CeraVe Facial Moisturising Lotion 52ml

I recently have started my journey into the world of skincare. I've been having a wonderful time trying out all kinds of cleansers, moisturizers, masks, etc. Today I tried out a sample of the CeraVe AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen that I had received complements of their website. This product was a heavier face cream, and you can definitely smell the sunscreen in it. The scent did not bother my sensitive skin though. I have combination/oily skin and this moisturizer made my skin kind of shiny, and a little bit oily. It absorbed quickly and evenly into my skin and wasn't sticky or tacky feeling in any way. It left my skin feeling very soft and smooth, and very very hydrated. I'm kind of left feeling torn on this product because while it did do a great job at hydrating my skin and making it soft, it also almost left it with a layer of oil on top of it. What it is, is a micro-fine zinc oxide sunscreen for UVA/UVB protection. This moisturizer with SPF is a hydrating facial lotion that spreads easily, is absorbed quickly, and leaves a non-greasy finish. All-day hydration with broad spectrum sun protection. 3 essential ceramides to help restore skin's natural barrier. Developed with dermatologists, this hydrating face lotion- featuring 3 essential ceramides moisturizes throughout the day and provides broad spectrum protection with SPF 30. For $9 on Amazon I don't really think that I would purchase this product. I'm not really sure if I would recommend this product for oily skin, but for dry or normal skin, I definitely would.

I was drawn to this product because its a 2-in-one moisturizer and sunscreen which allowed me to minimize the amount of products I would need to layer on my face. The pros of this product are that it is a reasonable price, is moisturizing on my dry skin, has a reasonable SPF level (SPF 30).It also works very well under makeup. The con however, is that this product is a bit tricky to layer. I apply a vitamin C serum to my face before applying this product. When it comes time to apply this product if I don’t act quickly it begins to clump up as I rub it on my face. Overall this product gets a 4/5 because the pros outweigh the cons but that clumping effect is a bit annoying.

Does What Wanted It To Do

Being photosensitive, essentially allergic to the sun, I have to wear sunscreen all of the time. I'm always looking for a good facial sunscreen that doesn't leave me looking like Data from Star Trek. My preference is a lightweight product that has some degree of physical sunblock, isn't greasy and doesn't cause me to break out. For whatever reason I started getting a really serious case of blackhead on my nose and chin and gaping pores. (I go though cycles of this occasionally, so I'm guessing it's likely a combo of environmental conditions and hormone fluctuations.) My products and routine hadn't changed and the problem was getting worse, so after doing some research I decided to try out the this product, along with CeraVe's SA cleanser. It's been 2-3 months now. My skin went through a purge stage where I was getting pimples allover my face, although not a whole lot. Then I saw the improvement. The blackheads cleared up, pores are smaller, skin tone is more even, and my skin is soft and smooth. I use the same toning and moisturizing products I used before. I find the CeraVe's SA SPF moisturized makes a decent primer too, bearing in mind I only use and SPF mineral veil over it during the day. For the folks having issues with the product pilling or staying white, first & foremost let your skin dry before apply this product. Second, spread the product across your skin instead of rubbing it in, if need be do it in a couple of light layers. For any white patches that may remain, pat them as they dry.

Great Dupe for A More Expensive SPF

To me, this is a great, and cost-effective dupe for a well-known dermatologist-recommended spf for acne-prone skin (this other product happens to be spf 46 and rhymes with "delta"). True, this only has spf 30, but aside from that the products look and feel the same. They are both hybrid zinc oxide/chemical sunscreens and they both heavily feature niacinamide as a star ingredient. The more expensive spf has lactic acid and instead this Cerave AM moisturizer has ceramides. Honestly, I'll take the ceramides over the lactic acid because I don't need my moisturizer/sunscreen to exfoliate - I'd rather it protect my skin which the ceramides will contribute to. So again, I think the only thing better about the more expensive product is the spf level 46. If you are looking for more of a light moisturizer, I'd suggest the Ultra-Light Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30. That one feels more like a moisturizer and less like an spf. But the downside to that one is that it doesn't have niacinamide, which I find helps with balancing oil production. All in all, this AM moisturizing lotion is a good solid choice, is non-irritating, doesn't break me out, and is a much, much cheaper alternative to the above-described more expensive product. It's not my favourite sunscreen overall, but I will keep it in rotation and would recommend it.

HIGHLY RECCOMEND

I don’t know why everyone is saying it gets clumpy. I use a serum after washing my face and then put this moisturizer on about 5 minutes later once my serum has soaked into my skin. I am in LOVE with this moisturizer. Not only does it give you sun protection, but it moisturizes your face wonderfully!! It does take a little bit of effort to completely rub it into your skin so that there aren’t any white streaks, but any sunscreen lotion you have is the same way. It doesn’t leave white marks on your clothing or on your face. It smells great, and it definitely gets the job done. I have severe dry skin, and the area around my nose will often crack because it’s so dry. Peels, white cast, dries matte and uneven, stings

This sunscreen is NOT hydrating. It peels and stings very badly. It also leaves a white cast/film. I use Cerave daily moisturizer lotion, which is gentle, hydrating, fast absorbing, and does not cause breakouts. So, you would think that this sunscreen would pair well with their products. I cannot truly express my disappointment. This sunscreen dries matte. So you literally have to act fast and rub it in, which further irritates the skin. It leaves you skin dry, uneven from the sunscreen peeling, and white. I do not wear makeup and my skincare routine is quite simple (cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen). Also, I have a very light complexion-person of color. This stuff really works

Right, I’ll try to give an objective review of this product, as I have been using this product for 3+ months now. Does this product work? Short and long answer is yes. I have noticed LOTS of baby hair (curlier than the rest of my hair, lol) and otherwise hair grow faster. I have been using this twice a week on average, usually after washing my hair. It will take a while before one sees a result, but result visible after one month of use. You need to realize that this doesn’t make hair appear magically, so you have to be patient for these hair to grow.
