The CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum is a super gentle retinol, perfect for someone who hasn't used any retinol products before, or someone who doesn't like anything too harsh. I currently use a prescribed high strength retinol so my skin is very used to it BUT I found this to be surprisingly good. It's definitely a lot more gentle but as an every night retinol, it was very nice to use. The pump is great. It dispenses just the right amount and doesn't splurt the product out. It absorbed quickly into the skin and didn’t leave any stickiness or residue. I found that the serum did not at all irritate my skin or give me any reactions. I usually don’t have sensitive skin though; however I would say this serum would be good for sensitive skin compared to other retinols as they can be notoriously irritating. I did trial a small amount of the product on my hand to ensure I got no reaction. I liked it because it also didn’t have any fragrances (at least that I could smell) or any strong colouring – it was just an off yellow colour and I think it just lets the ingredients speak for themselves. The tube itself consists of simple packaging with a little pump top. It allows you to easily control the amount of product to use. It probably is too soon to tell if it has had any anti-aging or anti-wrinkle effects (I would say four weeks is too soon to tell) but I will keep using this serum as part of my daily routine regardless in hopes of getting the long term benefits that come with using retinol products. I will continue using this product and would be happy to recommend it to friends and family!

I have an existing retinol serum that I love, and others that I have tried haven't really compared, so I was really interested to try this one, especially as it contains ceramides as well, which my skin loves. I've got dehydrated, oily-combo skin with texture and hyperpigmentation that is blemish-prone, and can be quite reactive, and was so glad that this product didn't dry me out or irritate my skin. I have sensitive skin however usually like something with a scent as I am lucky the scent doesn’t normally irritate my skin. This product doesn’t have a scent though which would suit most people it’s just a preference for me that I like. It certainly didn’t take away how well this product is performing. I used this product for a block of two weeks each evening after a hot shower and a face free of any other products. My face definitely is showing an even tone now and my skin is smooth and silky. Some of my fine lines around my lip area have reduced. I took photos for this one and could see a slight difference which was amazing. Although I received this product as a trial with the Beauty Crew I definitely feel that the price point for this serum matches what the product delivers. I feel CeraVe have put a great amount of effort and research into this product to ensure it backs up what it says it’s doing. I will continue to use this serum in the evenings and hope to see even better results as the nights go on. I would highly recommend this product for women of my age and skin type. I have definitely noticed a vast improvement in the texture and appearance of my skin. My skin has a firmer appearance and feels smoother and more plump. My wrinkles and fine lines also appear faded. I find an enormous difference when I use the retinol at night and wake in the morning to my skin that appears renewed, stronger and more youthful looking. My skin loves this product and the way it feels. The packaging is another big plus for me. It’s compact and convenient for travel and I love that it has an eco friendly pump. The pump bottle makes it super easy to control the dosage. I would 100% recommend the CeraVe Skin Renewing Retinol Serum for my age group and skin type.

I have no issues with absorption, stickiness, greasiness or pilling. If I have any of those issues with my skin care I'll generally not use them up. I'll be happy to use this product up though! The little mini pump bottle is very cute too. I like the packaging. This product layers well with the other ceraVe products as well as my other skin care. I have no problem there. This serum has helped smooth out my skin, unblock pores and congestion and help slightly with those fine lines. I find retinol doesn't make a huge difference when you first use it, it generally takes a long time to start working on those fine lines but you'll see pores reduce and smoothness increase pretty quickly. I do tend to get teething issues with retinol, because it unclogs skin, it might raise one of the black heads for example. It unclogs though and that really is the point of it including all the other benefits I've mentioned. This is a great addition to any skin care routine for ageing skin. I do find it's personally not my favourite anti ageing ingredient of all time though. I tend to go for others over this as they make more of a difference and suit my skin type more but the product itself is well made. The ingredients are tops! So if choosing a retinol you are definitely safe with ceraVe.

Since using the retinol I have noticed with consistent use, general overall brighter skin, even skin tone and fading of spots (I have also used the vit c in the mornings from this range) and have noticed great results with the two products. So impressed with this range and am glad to have found two key anti ageing products that are affordable and effective.
I decided to pick up Cerave's Skin Renewing Retinol serum back in November when I ran out of my previous retinol product (similar price point, also uses encapsulated retinol, seemed to be similar in terms of strength). I thought this serum would be better for my skin barrier during the winter given the ceramides, and I'd seen the brand's other retinol serum recommended. Final verdict after using 2-3 nights a week from November through April, though, is that it's a HARD pass and I can't recommend it. The texture is very watery, which did not feel pleasant to apply, and left behind a kind of tacky a dry feeling afterwards. I can't find any official info on the strength/percentage of this retinol dose, but I suspect it's much stronger than I thought, so the Cerave Skin Renewing retinol (blue) is probably a better one to try out first. So it's not something I'd buy again for those reasons - but also because using it has been an AWFUL experience for me personally. It wasn't ever painful upon application or anything, but it did still make my face feel somewhat more sensitized for a day or so sometimes. And despite sticking it out for so long to try and adjust to whatever exact dose this is, my skin simply didn't tolerate it or react well with it at all. For me, it's too harsh and drying (despite not actively feeling like it is?) or something, because the breakouts of persistent redness and whitehead clusters was REAL, and I could not keep under control while using this product. thankfully, within about a week of chucking it out, my face is finally returning to normal.
