CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum

I am unsure how I feel about this product TBH - This product has a lot of claims to it: 10% Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, 3 Ceramides, Biomimetic Peptides, Niacinamide, and Retinol. I do not have sensitive skin, nor do I struggle with acne, aside from a random pimple here or there. I do struggle with visible pores on and around my nose. I always look like I have black heads or rather brown freckles on my nose. They’re not terrible, easily covered with makeup, but it’s something that’s developed more over the years. I have been using this religiously for a few weeks, along with CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream, Estée Lauder ANR, and facial lotion. This combination, along with my facial cleansers, seem to perform well for my skin. This combination, along with my facial cleansers, seem to perform well for my skin. I think it has slightly evened my skin tone and helped with some hyperpigmentation. My skin has felt soft, taunt, and the texture seems visibly more even around some developing fine lines. Unfortunately, I do vape, so my effects may be partially diminished due to this habit. One thing that really irritated me about this product, after the first time opening it, the product continued to leak around the seal (shown in the second photo) for a few days. As I would squeeze the tube to get some out, more would ooze out from the seal. However, once I noticed it happening, it was nearly impossible for me to unscrew the tip to reseal it due to it hardening. Eventually, the product hardened and turned brown around the seal and stopped oozing out. Everyone knows that Vitamin C is sensitive to oxygen and light and will oxidize in those conditions, and it’s effects are decreased because of it. So, I wonder if the product has truly been working the way it is supposed to, or if it was basically ruined the first day I opened the package and it started to oxidize from oxygen getting into it… May try it again or may try a different product, not sure yet.

I usually love Cerave products for what ingredients are included in them as much as the ingredients left out. But this serum just has too much dimethicone in it for my preferences and pills under my SPF. I’ll use up the tube but will not repurchase. In my ongoing search to replace my preferred (and very expensive) vitamin c serums (Sunday Riley CEO, Drunk Elephant C-Firma), I picked this up from HEB. It has no scent and spreads nicely on the skin, not leaving any sticky residue or shine on the face. This is probably due to the fact that dimethicone is high on the ingredient list. Unfortunately, the large amount of dimethicone just doesn’t sit well on my skin, especially under SPF and makeup. It causes rolling/pilling on my face that looks like I rolled around in a lint trap. Not cute! I gave three stars for quality vit c/ceramide ingredients and effective and smart packaging. But it is a no-go for me and my skincare routine.

Great Product, Weird Packaging

My review of the Cerave skin renewing vitamin C serum: I have some conflicted feelings on this product. The serum itself yielded really good results; I felt my naturally uneven skintone with small, faint areas of skin discoloration physically looks better after consistent use. After applying for two weeks after washing my face, I felt my skin's uneveness had been largely resolved! I also had some dry patches and inflamed skin on the side of my mouth, as well as some scarring from recent hormonal pimples, and this cleared everything up. What I did not love is the rather small amount of product you receive and the not very aesthetically pleasing packaging, compared to my skinceuticals or glossier serums at least. It was difficult to figure out how to get the product out of the tube, as there's an oddly pointed cap covering a skinny tip of the tube that I ASSUME needed to be cut. I had to cut the tip off the tube to get the product to be released but would really have appreciated if the packaging could have mentioned ANYWHERE that you'll need to cut the tube. Like I said, packaging and presentation is a little bit off but a very good product.

Great product for my skin

This product worked well for my skin type. I have fair, sensitive and dry skin in spots. I am also in my early fourties and have some decent wrinkle and sun spots which cause uneven tones along my face and neck area. Some products I have used in the past I have been able to see a difference in my skin straight away, however, I have used this product for around a month now and it has only been in the last week that I have seen a difference. My skin tone now has some natural colour to it, no doubt from the vitamin c and the appearance of my skin feels much smoother and free from lumps and bumps. I feel that the longer I use this product the better it will be for my skin. This would be very dependent on the type of skin you have. I decided to use this product every morning after washing my face with just some cold water and then applying this product straight after. The tube the product is in is quite small and for the price I would have wanted more even though I was able to trial this product through beauty crew I was definitely left with feeling it was quite a small amount. The product itself is quite thin in texture which I think is great as I don’t want to put layers of thick serum on my face in the morning and with my other layers and make up it would cause further skin issues for me so being this thin enables me to not actually use much of the product with each application. I would say I use daily around a 10c coin size would cover my face and neck dependent on how dry my face was. It’s really easy to squeeze the product out and once it’s on my face it spreads very easily across the surface and nice and evenly through the wrinkles on my face too. The product doesn’t have any scent to it which for me I would have liked a nice smell which is just my preference and some products with scents can irritate the skin. After rubbing this product in I would let it soak into my skin for a couple of minutes. Then after use of this product I would then add my daily moisturizer and suncream. I found that this product didn’t interfere with any of those products and seemed to work well with them as it definitely soaked into my skin quickly and when absorbed it wasn’t greasy at all like many products can be. I would recommend this product as a daily use product to achieve results. There are many other Cerave products out that you can use with this product to enhance your skins many features. I will continue to use this product in my daily morning routine and hoping the results get even better with time.

My best multitasker for looking younger

I was so lucky to be in this trial. I have good knowledge of active ingredients such as Vitamin C and know they make a big difference to the look of my skin. It's a multi tasker and needs to be in everyone's routine. I'm a skin care connoisseur at this age, I literally have a cabinet of skin care so I have a lot to compare it with! I am 39 with fair skin prone to pigmentation, freckles and general dullness. I also have some old acne scarring. This product has 10% Vitamin C which is the perfect amount to not cause irritation to the skin but add glow and fade pigmentation and freckles over time, but also get rid of that dull look of the skin for someone of my age. Ongoing use will definitely brighten the skin and make you look younger because it smooths the skin, boosts collagen (something that slows as we age and causes that dull saggy look), fades pigmentation, scarring and freckles and even reduces redness. Yes this definitely works, try it for yourself but give it a fair go. It will work straight away though so you don't need to wait for the young glow, however longer term use fades that pigmentation/scarring etc. I find my dull skin looks brighter 2 days after application. I've been asked for ID actually on a no makeup day very recently (no joke!). This product works really well layered up with the other ceraVe products and my other skin care and makeup. I have no issues with lack of absorption or greasiness, definitely no pilling, no break outs and no annoying sticky feeling. It's the perfect consistency and just feels great to apply. It is also nourishing and hydrating at the same time. Vitamin C does help with hydration. Cerave really got this recipe right and with 30ml and a wonderfully easy protective tube (protectives the active C) I will definitely be purchasing this in future. I have used a few other brands in different concentrations and this one is by far my favourite as the concentration is not too high to cause irritation and the texture is just right unlike the others I've tried. I'm very fussy with my skin care so if it's sticky or greasy or smells odd etc I just won't use it up. This one has none of those issues. It's well worth investing in this product for your skin if you care about your looks as it really is a great multi tasker and actually contains proven actives unlike some of those rip off mumbo jumbo products that aren't well researched. This is my favourite out of the 3 I received to trial but the others are great too. CeraVe is generally a really good brand to buy. They put a lot of ceramides in their products. I'm so glad they came out with this new line!!

Really enjoyed this vitamin c serum!

I like my skin products to let me skin breathe and to not be sticky during the day. This serum was very light (in terms of weight) and extremely smooth on the skin. Unlike with other brands I have previously used, this CeraVe product did not cause any skin discomfort (tingling, stinging) or skin reactions. I do not usually have sensitive skin, however, so it may be a different scenario for those with more delicate skin. I did trial a small amount of the product on my hand to ensure I got no reaction, but otherwise using less frequently may help e.g. every second or third day. I have been using the vitamin c serum for four weeks and have incorporated it into my daily skincare routine. I use it in the morning only, after I have cleansed my face. I use a small amount and apply it evenly over my entire face and let it dry before using my moisturiser and SPF. Other vitamin C products I have used have had more of a powdery or gritty finish, which then makes my moisturised pill and didn’t feel nice at all to use. This CeraVe product is so smooth, exactly as a serum should be, and the remainder of my skincare can be applied with no problems. It didn’t make my skin oily or dry The tube itself is easy to use, it is a metal tube with a fine end to control the amount of product you get every day. The metal tube is to protect the components of the serum to ensure they don’t oxidise. Each morning the very first amount of serum will be a little bit more yellow than the rest, I assume to this oxidation process, however this is reported as still effective product. Using such a small amount daily, I would imagine this product would last a while, meaning great value for money. This product is far more cost effective than other brands on the market which is great as good skincare should be affordable and accessible. I have been using other CeraVe products in combination with this serum (therefore could be a combination of the three) but have definitely noticed smoother skin with a more even, brighter skin tone. A lot of the dark sun spots that used to bother me are much less noticeable. It probably is too soon to tell if it has had any anti-aging or anti-wrinkle effects (I would say four weeks is too soon to tell) but I will keep using this serum as part of my daily routine regardless in hopes of getting the long term benefits that come with protecting the skin against free radicals. The hyaluronic acid in the serum leaves my skin feeling hydrated and plump with a nice dewy finish. I will continue using this product and would be happy to recommend it to friends and family.

Overall, I am extremely happy with this serum and would highly recommend!

Vitamin C Amazing Product for Laugh Lines

If you're semi lazy like me and don't have an extensive skincare ritual then this product is perfect! I used to just use a washable makeup remover pad and a supermarket brand moisturiser but did not see any improvement but kept on up because it was ingrained in me as something that you 'had to do' I am so pleased I got to trial the 3 piece CeraVe skincare set and I tell you what my skin has never looked better! I'm 47 but often get mistaken for a 30ish year old which is great. But since Covid my skin hasn't been the best with lack of care on my part The CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum is absolutely gorgeous. No wierd smell. And you don't even need to use much at all so the container will last ages I was concerned by a bit of oxidisation on the lip of the tube but apparently that is normal and nothing to worry about My 'other' moisturiser used to pill my skin shortly after application but this totally did not do that I can visibly see some of my smaller laugh line wrinkles being improved! Whilst I did have a few small breakouts as always with new products they cleared up quickly and revealed a beautifully soft even and dare I day it...glowing face! Go get it! 100000% totally worth it!

Vitamin C For Me

I am in my 50s and have a combination skin type with an oily t zone and dry cheeks. I am also very sensitive to highly fragranced skin care products. I also have an uneven skin tone with pigmentation. I have been using the CeraVe Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum for almost one month now and I am very impressed with results. I use this product every morning and evening. The serum is lightweight and absorbs beautifully into my skin without irritation or reaction. If I am allergic to a product I react almost immediately. This is a very positive sign!! I have noticed a visible difference in the overall brightness and texture of my skin. It left my skin feeling hydrated. plump and smoother in appearance. My forehead is also smoother and the wrinkles and fine lines appear visibly reduced. My pigmentation has brightened and they appear to be less apparent and lighter which I am very excited about! My face feels fresh and re vitalised upon application of this product. I can honestly say that this serum has really improved the texture of my skin and is well suited to my skin type. My skin absorbs it really well and does make it look refreshed! I love that it has very little fragrance and is lightweight. The packaging is in a metal squeeze tube which is easy to use and dispense. This packaging also protects the serum really well. The Vitamin C Serum is a great alternative to the more expensive Vitamin C serums at a fraction of the price. I have tried other more expensive Vitamin C serums but have reacted to most of them. This is one of the only ones I am able to use so I will be adding this product into my daily skin care regime. I’m so thankful I was able to test run this amazing serum. I would not hesitate to recommend this product, which I have already done, to my family and friends. It’s a thumbs up from me!
