As a huge fan of Frank Herbert and science fiction in general this is perhaps the best of the Dune series written by the late Herbert. Many millenium after Paul Altreides ascension to Emperor, this follow up of "Dune Heretics" is a must read for anyone who enjoys the possible galactic futures that may engulf mankind. The intense novel that revolves around the Bene Gesserit witches and their unique outlook into the universe of man, as well as their defense of the old empire against a new, almost overwhelming threat, is completely enthralling. The characters are alive, and the descriptions of the Bene Gesserit sisterhood are simply not to be missed. I have personally spend many a contented and thought provoking hour re-reading this spectacular novel.

Item received was a library book. So with all the markings and cover damage item is less valuable for collection series. I was looking to complete this original series without any additional markings, however the contents are whats important. Just slightly disappointed.

The book might leave you hanging with unanswered questions, but it is still worth it to own! Alot of layers are worth digging into.
Frank Herbert's Dune series is fantastic read this many years ago and am now reading all of his books again along with the more recent books by his son. Great read
The mind-bending to Frank Herbert's original six part series. I can't wait to start reading the sequels following his further drafts...
Typical awesome writing from Frank Herbert. Have read it before. Wanted to read it again.
This book is more about the Bene Gesserit and their fight to take control of the known universe. I recommend reading it. No sense in stopping on the 5th book. The fifth book about a giant worm which may be the basis for Jabba The Hutt, except this worm had a human face. It was pontificating and hard to keep reading.
Only gave a 2 rating , I guess I thought it was going to be more interesting for me. Only my opinion.
Chapterhouse is the culmination of almost fifty years of literary expertise. This, the last in the "Dune" franchise, details the time and events 1500 years after the God-Emperor Leto II returns to the sand. It is a time of desperation and intrigue, at time when even the oldest and most insidious of all, the Bene Gesserit are collapsing. In this novel those of the scattering return. The Honored Matres are striking at the door and the universe once again faces a total redistribution of power. Can this be stopped or are the old establishments too corrupt and stagnate to stand up to the plight...

The desert planet Arrakis, called Dune, has been destroyed. The remnants of the Old Empire have been consumed by the violent matriarchal cult known as the Honored Matres. Only one faction remains a viable threat to their total conquest—the Bene Gesserit, heirs to Dune’s power. Under the leadership of Mother Superior Darwi Odrade, the Bene Gesserit have colonized a green world on the planet Chapterhouse and are turning it into a desert, mile by scorched mile. And once they’ve mastered breeding sandworms, the Sisterhood will control the production of the greatest commodity in the known galaxy—the spice melange. But their true weapon remains a man who has lived countless lifetimes—a man who served under the God Emperor Paul Muad’Dib.
