I love using non-stick pans, but I am not good at maintaining them. Usually they are perfect when new, but after a year or so, the non-stick coating layer has been destroyed by poor cleaning or using the wrong utensils.Circulon pans claim to be different, they have concentric circular grooves on the pan base and are designed to handle metal utensils and can even be washed in the dishwasher. Of course using wooden/silicone utensils, and hand washing is still best, but having the option to use metal and shove it in the dishwasher is amazing. As I cook daily, I am always looking for a pan which cooks food easily and saves time on the washing up! The packaging on this product was extremely detailed, claiming to have multiple layers of metal/product ensuring for longevity and non damage caused during cleaning. After using this product a number of times, I can sincerely recommend highly to others. It cooks food evenly and extremely well and practically wipes clean during washing, meaning that there is no need to scrub no matter how much debris is on the pan. After washing a number of times now it is still like brand new with no deterioration to the surface of the pan or the handle, even when cleaning with a scourer, time will tell if this prevails. Was excited to get my scratch defense cookware with no problems in shipping. Set looks beautiful! Especially like that metal utensils can be used with it. However, I was not pleased to read in the instructions that if cookware is exposed to high heat or if in cooking the pans are allowed to go dry, severe damage like in the cookware coming totally apart on the bottom will happen! I recently left the gas burner on after frying a sandwich using my T-Fal frying pan. Didn’t notice flame was still on for over 15 minutes! Pan was super hot but showed no signs of any damage. Evidently if this had happened with the scratch defense cookware, I would have to throw the pan away. I don’t want to be cooking and have the pan come apart right on the stove with food in it. I had one of these skillets for years, it had no model name or number just said Circulon on the bottom. I couldn’t even remember where I had bought it, possibly Kohls or TJMaxx. It finally needed replaced and I started researching and I saw prices and they all seemed high, after doing much research, I purchased a granite skillet and I hated it! It doesn’t sear or cook evenly and the bottom never seemed clean. So I ordered another. Circulon, a Scratch Defense and I love it. Although it’s lighter weight than my previous model, it made a perfect grilled cheese, blackened chicken breast and pan seared butter basted filet with fantastic crust just like the one I owned previously. I’m so happy it has the grooves on the bottom. That was my favorite feature. I highly recommend.
There’s nothing bad to say about this pan. Does exactly what it supposed to do. It almost cleans up itself. Don’t wash it in the dishwasher, wash it by hand. Dishwashing strips off any functioning oils that help the pan remain nonstick. The spout and straining lid are so useful! Something which was very disappointing though, I had three sauce pans and one skillet which comprised my order. It came in two separate boxes. Very large boxes absolutely loaded with Styrofoam packing peanuts. That really upset me and I think that is very disappointing too many other people. There is no need for Styrofoam. There are many other recyclable materials which can be used for packing/shipping. Shame on Circulon.
Well I ordered my first 8&10 inch skillets from Macy's. The 8&10 arrived in a pieced together box with no protective packaging. Inside were bent skillets. The 12 inch skillet arrived packaged properly and in pristine condition. I sent the 8&10 inch skillets back to Macy's for a refund. Ordered from Amazon TWICE and both times they arrived improperly packaging (too big of a box with no protective packaging) and they were bent/dented also. Sent those back for a refund. So I ordered directly from Circulon thinking surely they would package their products properly. When my skillets arrived they were in a plastic bag. No box just a plastic bag. Guess what? However, as of the past 6 months (~1.5 years), all pieces excluding the smallest pot, are peeling the non-stick surface. I feel the surfaces are not what is advertised. We would routinely find the rubbery coating in our food.We cook in a manner that every typical household would cook like. This is my third Circulon purchase and I'm extremely pleased with this pot as well as my two previous purchases. The weight of the pot is fantastic, very sturdy. The handles are amazing, very comfortable and heat resistant. Everything is very well done as far as construction and the non-stick is a delight!! Every other non-Circulon pot/pan in my cupboards is slowly being replaced with Circulon. I'm so glad I took the plunge to purchase my first piece. Even though the pots and pans are a bit pricey, it's WELL worth the money spent. My first pot looks and performs just as well as it did when it was brand new. I have no doubt they will last me for years and still make me smile when I used them.
