Citi Card off | Gaggia Naviglio Milk Automatic Coffee Machine
With over 80 years’ experience honing the craft of espresso, Gaggia is committed to facilitating barista moments in everyday households. Their Naviglio machine allows you to tweak the variables of each cup so you can enjoy espresso just the way you like it. The 100% ceramic grinders provide consistent performance, while giving you the versatility of five coarseness settings. Gaggia has chosen to use ceramic because it prevents overheating of coffee beans, and is great for durability and quiet brewing. The Memo function allows you to adjust your coffee’s length and strength and save these settings for later. Thanks to quick heat boiler technology, you can pump out espresso for everyone in the room without waiting between cups. The automatic milk frother features a cyclonic chamber to produce a velvety milk foam; it will draw milk from your jug and dispense it directly into your cup. Every time you switch the machine on or off, an automatic cleaning cycle will commence, rinsing out the coffee circuit to ensure your next cup tastes fresh. The brewing group is the heart and soul of this machine, and it can be removed for cleaning under a steady flow of water. Enjoy Italian cafeteria-style coffee each and every day with the Gaggia Naviglio espresso machine.

So far I love the investment I made. I still don't make a latte in the mornings because I don't give myself the time to clean the spout after, but I have made the espresso so I could make an Americano or red eye once I got to work. I've tried 2 different beans and 2 grind settings and I can definitely tell the difference when the setting may be a little too course or too fine. It's not an espresso shot that is comparable to most coffee shops commercial machines, but so much better than your little espresso machines for under $200. Super easy to use. The cleaning every 2-3 months is some work, but not terrible at all. And cleaning the brew group weekly(fish) is easy enough. I'm super happy with it. I do think it's a little difficult to find the right beans for the machine if you want to explore different beans due to having to ensure the beans aren't oily due to it being a super automatic. So, if you don't want that trouble, do not get a super automatic.

I spent a couple of days comparing similar machines on the Whole Latte Love and Amazon websites and decided to buy this machine from Whole Latte Love. It was a difficult decision but this machine appeared to (1) have everything I wanted for a good price, (2) I liked my previous Gaggia machine very much, and (3) was happy with Whole Latte Love's sale of the previous machine. After using this machine for a couple of days, I considered returning it for a few reasons but ultimately decided to keep it. Here are some pros and cons that should clarify the compromise.Pros: It's a Gaggia, it is compact and nice looking, it is relatively quiet, and the build quality seems good (though there is often a slight metallic squeak as it pumps water--not the coffee mechanism--which is a bit concerning to me). Once I made some adjustments to the coffee type, grind, amount, and gave the machine time to make its own adjustments, the coffee taste/quality seems great. The cappuccinatore that makes the froth and slides it over to the cup works very well and makes a fine even froth that I like very much. I also like the option to use the Panarello wand instead of the automatic frother. The machine is relatively easy to operate and maintain. The instructions were good. I like the bean hopper that requires less help pushing beans into the grinder than my Synchrony machine. Coffee and milk temperatures are near optimal. Ability to program shot size and milk additions to a latte and other drinks is very nice and enables the one touch latte experience, which I appreciate. (note. I have to first catch or run off the steamed water that comes out of the cappuccinatore and then put my mug in place when the steamed milk begins to flow before the one-touch process is fully automatic).Cons: My biggest surprise and disappointment is that the machine lacks the ability to bypass the bean grinder in order to use pre-ground coffee. Thus, I am unable to switch from regular to decaf coffee when I want to avoid the caffeine. As a result of this limitation, I needed to purchase a decaf brewing alternative, which is quite frustrating and inadequate. The Naviglio appears to show a bypass in the bean hopper but it is inoperative. Though less of a problem, the power switch on the front of the machine left flashes red when the machine is off (never stops and cannot be controlled without unplugging). This is quite irritating and I decided to cover it with black electrician tape to mute the annoying effect. Also annoying is the pre-set timing of the automatic shut down routine. I think it is 30 minutes. So before I am ready for a second latte, the machine shuts down, dumps a shot of water, and must be started up again (dumping more water through the coffee dispenser to get ready). All-in-all, I use a lot of water, must empty the catch tray often, and am probably using up the water filter life pretty quickly. Unlike Gaggia’s slightly more expensive machines, the shutdown time is not adjustable. The Naviglio has a lot of high quality and important features for the money and it's size worked well for my under-cabinet placement, but given what I know now and the opportunity to start over, I would probably purchase a different machine owing primarily to the "no bypass" option. With regard to Whole Latte Love, the price was good, the delivery fast, and everything arrived in great shape. I wish they had highlighted to lacking bypass option in their review. Set up was pretty fast and easy, though I was already familiar with a related Gaggia machine.

I replaced recently failed Gaggia Brera espresso machine with Naviglio Milk. Being a newer model, Naviglio has some improvements over older Brera: noticeably larger water tank, better designed coffee bean container, more automated descaling process. But like most people that select Naviglio Milk, I chose it for that “beautiful, silky cappuccino with a single push of a button”. Unfortunately, Naviglio cannot produce a decent cup of cappuccino in that highly advertised automatic mode. It starts the cappuccino brewing cycle by dispensing water into the cup. Then it produces low quality milk foam mixed with more water. Then it adds expresso into the mix. What a joke! I can produce much better milk foam by using included classic pannarello wand. But then why pay more for Naviglio, when you can get Brera for $100 less. And unlike Naviglio, Brera offers espresso and lungo, so if true Italian espresso is too strong for you, you can brew a less strong beverage with the push of a button. For some reason my Naviglio Milk is also missing lubricating grease, which was always included in every Gaggia or Saeco espresso machine. I don't know if that is something that Gaggia changed or Whole Latte Love excluded. Machine manual sure does mention lubricating grease as included.Pros and cons of Gaggia Naviglio Milk.Pros:- Brews stronger coffee. Naviglio uses 10 grams of coffee per brew vs 8 grams used by Brera.- Large water tank. About 50% bigger than in Brera.- Transparent coffee bean container with improved dispenser to the grinder section.- Coffee residue drawer. Mounted under coffee brewing group and helps to keep the bottom section clean.Cons:- One espresso mode. Cannot brew lungo.- Indicator lights instead of a display on other machines. With small icons next to indicator lights it is not always easy to see what is happening with the machine or choose the right option.- One touch cappuccino cycle is a fail.Keep in mind that Whole Latte Love is no Amazon or Best Buy. There are no free returns here. Unless you exchange your purchase with something more expensive, you will be charged 10% restocking fee. Add shipping cost to the equation, and you will pay $100+ to try one of their espresso machines. So slightly more expensive offering at Amazon may not be more expensive after all.

It is simple to use, makes the perfect latte every time. And the noise is much less than u expected, i read on the comments thats it was really loud, but its not as I imagined. Of course its going to make some noise since you are getting freshly ground cup of coffee. But its nothing to complain about. I am very happy with my purchase, and highly recommend. Plus it doesnt look bulky, it blends with the kitchen.
For the most part, I am very impressed with my new machine. It certainly beats what I owned years ago, however I would probably go up a machine or two after owning the Naviglio for a few weeks. I am not as impressed with the Capp in Cup, preferring to steam my milk with the Panarello wand for my coffee. I have to say, compared to my last machine, the froth made from the wand doesn't even compare to what we had before....it's just amazing! For the price point, it's a great machine, however speaking for myself, I would now probably go up 2 or 3 machines. It's easy to clean as well.
Paid good money for this and was so happy with the awesome drinks we can make. The problem is if the beans in the hopper get low it errors out and putting more in doesn't clear the error. You can't even steam milk to finish off the drink you were making when you do a double and it errors out before the second shot. The only way I found to clear the error is to take out everything including the barista inside, turn it upside down and shake vigorously. Needless to say it pretty much ruins your relaxing cup of coffee.
This is a fantastic espresso machine for cappuccino lovers!!If you are like me and want a cup of cappuccino without too much hassle, then this machine is for you.Although it is not really one touch, (there is cleanup actions you need to do take care of it) the machine is very easy to put together and maintain. The instructions are complete and concise. Finally, it pulls a great shot of espresso and the capp in cup system adds in perfectly frothed milk.Other machines that do this cost upwards of $700
I used to own a gaggia classic for many years, then bought a breville bambino plus and it was a game changer, even using pressurized basket, i can get very good espressos and capucinos with the automatic frother. it was a great deal because of the size and features. so i had high expectations for an automatic gaggia, but sadly the flavour and frothing consistency cannot be compared with the bambino that has pre-infussion and PID. you can only make so so coffees.
I have owned this machine for less than two years and it is already has a major problem. The frother does not shut off the steam supply so it prevents the whole machine from working. It has done about 1600 brew cycles so that is very SAD. (I also have an old Syncrony, 8 years old and still works) some other people have also mentioned these cons, so here are some of the big cons:-Irritating red light when off-no bypass doser-if you are lucky you have to empty the puck drawer after 10 pucks, often even less.-the drip tray needs to be emptied after 6 brews because it will be almost full of water-the bean hopper sometimes does not feed properly and it will stop grinding when almost done then show a red light and will dump the grinds in the spent puck bin-automatic ... (About 6 double shot cappuccino’s thats it.)-frother lip is not long enough for smaller cups, so you have to move the cup. Which negates the one touch machine function.Do yourself a big favor and spend a little more (150 bucks or so) and get a better machine. I love Gaggia but this machine is expensive and a bad bad design.
If all you're looking for is quick and easy espresso or cappuccino without spending too much, this is the best option. No complicated settings or screens to worry about, just simple tactile buttons. The design is minimal so it doesn't stand out too much in the room and it's very easy to wipe down but it does look nice as an addition to your counter. For the price it's definitely good at what it does and the shots are tasty as long as you get the right beans and dial in the right grind and dose setting. That can take some work but if your beans have any oil at all you will reduce the quality of your shots. The machine also has a break in period and it automatically adjusts itself, which means the first few dozen shots might not be all that great. For me this was a ... The machine also has a break in period and it automatically adjusts itself, which means the first few dozen shots might not be all that great. For me this was a little frustrating as it took a few weeks before I started getting the flavors I expected. There are a lot of positives and negatives but the negatives are little annoyances more than they are actually negatives. They're just things to be aware of. Previous to this I owned a machine that was more than double this price and performed only slightly better. You really can't get a better machine at this price and really all I need is something to quickly brew me a shot or two.Positives:One button press is simple and quick to get any drink. Very easy to clean and everything easily comes apart and out for a full cleaning. Water tank would be enough to last a week but all of the cleaning cycles drain it really fast. Out of the box it produces true single shots, that is 1oz pours. You can customize this to get a longer proper shot and I suggest measuring it out to an accurate 1oz or 2oz based on the shot size you prefer. It's very affordable and the brew group looks the same quality as Gaggia's higher end super automatics. The automatic frothing does a great job but see the negatives for a caveat. The manual steam option does produce a lot more power than I expected for this price point and does a quick job of frothing milk manually. It self cleans through rinse cycles but this can be a negative as it fills up the drip tray quickly. I leave a cup under the spout for when it auto shuts off.Negatives:You have to adjust the grind size while the unit is grinding. You might miss that detail in the manual but it's important. Initial setup can take some time and you will probably waste a lot of beans, so use some cheap beans. The included wand overdid my frothing so I'd get big loose foam that overflowed the container. I got a Pannarello wand and that solved the problem. The red light blinks constantly while it's on standby and there's no way to change this. If you want it to stop you have to remove power from the machine. The energy saving cannot be turned off as far as I can tell and puts the machine into standby after 30 minutes of inactivity, this means if you want another drink an hour later you need to turn it on and wait for the warm up and cleaning. It makes the drink warming tray a bit worthless. The automatic frother is a great idea and does a good job but it's incredibly loud. You will wake everyone up if you use it so I have to use the manual frothing. It's also a bit of a pain to clean.
