The case has a clip where you can attach it to your backpack which make it very easy to take it with you anywhere. The second part is that the The Freestyle Projector comes with a remote, and Samsung Tizen OS which makes our lifes easier. I love the design as its similar to a medium size speaker, the white colour matches a remote also and makes it stand out of the ordinary! The best thing about this projector is that from unboxing to watch a film it only takes under 10 mins! The screen projection goes up 100 inch (~2.54m), also easy to determine the screen size by following the distance instructions from the booklet. If that isn't enough you can link a 2nd projector as one!!The picture quality is 1080p and the sound is quite good for a small piece of kit. The Freestyle has auto focus and picture levelling, so no mater if you use it on an uneven surface your screen remains the same!Additionally, you can connect your Bluetooth speaker for a better experience, but also supports dual Bluetooth earbuds connection, that means you can watch a film with the loved ones without disturbing your baby! The remote is solar powered and can charge from normal daylight or sunny days! What I don't like about this projector is the connectivity features. It only has a micro HDMI which is quite limited, as you cannot use the USB C port for data sharing etc. On the other hand you can watch films on the go if you own a Netflix/DisneyPlus/Prime subscription and by using a power brick (able to power delivery). The other things I am not happy about is that the accessories (power brick, cable and remote) have no place in the case! It would be nice to at least come with a microfiber pouch to avoid forgetting it home or misplace it etc.Overall, this is a good projector with great features, I do recommend it to anyone who is travelling a lot, or looking for a perfect summer night in the garden, or kids room etc.

New in the Freestyle 2 is the game centre - giving native access to most of the main gaming subscriptions. So by logging in to my Gamepass subscription and adding a Bluetooth controller, I now have immersive home console level gaming available to me pretty much anywhere I can find Wi-Fi.The sound is great and good enough to fill a room, wireless connectivity is best in class, and a full array of both leisure and professional use cases are catered for.I own the first Freestyle and this is a worthy upgrade - it is faster, seems to last longer when used with the battery base and the gaming hub brings a whole new level to what I use the projector for.Only areas that could be improved are the port array (still only one USB-C and a micro HDMI - use of a USB-C hub overcomes this - and that because it is so flexible I would love a little more brightness. The icing on the cake is the extra functionality when used with a recent Samsung phone, the smart colour correction just works, as does the personal keystoning feature. Ph and the solar charging remote is genius - why don't all remotes do this?I have not had chance to try the new stitching feature where you can combine two Freestyles, but with Samsung releasing it for the original Freestyle in the coming months I hope to try this soon.

It takes you into the Samsung User Interface which is very familiar if you have ever used a smart TV or streaming stick. Clearly listing a range of available apps you can log into such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney and Samsung’s own free TV service. The Freestlye 2nd Gen is very clever and recognises the surface it is aimed towards and it’s undisturbed space and offers a picture sized to fit that space. I tried it on several walls and each time it auto focused to fit the area. At times there is a very small amount of adjusting which can be done with through the simple interface. At full size it really does fill walls with around 8 ft horizontally covered, if not slightly more.We have watched a range of films and streaming on it and for the most part it has been really impressive. It is always much better in a totally dark room as light is it’s biggest problem. If you do watch in a dark room it really stands out, the colours are great and it also offers several picture modes including dynamic which punches the colours up and increases contrast. It also have Movie which is a flatter profile but generally better for most films otherwise they can look a bit over-processed on the dynamic setting. The sound from such a small device is really a standout feature, even on low volumes it can clearly be heard. Push the volume up and it fills the room. This is not to compare to a dedicated speaker but it is comparable for most modern TV’s and considering it’s compact form it is really impressive. For anyone who has friends or family over, or simply enjoys watching immersive content, it really is a great way to do it, plus it offers the portability.

Amazing Projector

This projector absolutely exceeded my expectations! The best way to describe it is it’s literally a portable TV! It’s super easy to set up, has all the usual tv apps built in like Disney+, Netflix, Now TV etc so it’s so simple to get straight into watching stuff once you sign up / sign in.I absolutely love the design as its so simple and not overdone that it blends in really nicely wherever you put it to project. One of my favourite features that it has built in is that its no faff when you move it to another wall whether its closer or further it automatically resizes and refocuses the screen itself saving you time and energy doing anything yourself. The quality of the picture and sound are excellent as I’d expect from samsung having always shopped with them for ... MoreThis projector absolutely exceeded my expectations! The Freestyle 2nd Gen is an amazing compact projector. it comes with a USB C power cable as well as a remote with the standard power, volume and navigation buttons. It is packed with smart tech and has access to a myriad of apps. The remote allows you to quickly jump into Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and of course Samsung's own tv offering. For its size its able to project a bright image that can compete with bright sunny days, though i havent tested to see how it fairs outside in direct sunlight but even with curtains open you can clearly see what it is projecting. Of course darkened rooms is where it shines and its speaker, located on the bottom of the device, is able to provide excellent sound. You can of course connect bluetooth headphones for solo viewing sessions or when you are looking to get better audio ques when you are gaming.Speaking of gaming, the freestyle offers access to various game streaming services and I used my Xbox Game Pass to test it out. I cant tell you how much the portability and streaming quality has changed my life. Now, whilst getting in some steps on my walking map, i can continue my gaming sessions by projecting onto the wall in front of me and playing with my bluetooth enabled controller of choice. The Freestyle treats your controller like a remote as well so you can hop from your gaming session, to a video streaming service of your choice or access any other setting. The auto keystone and focus settings are surprisingly quick and allow you to move the projector around without having to manually adjust settings to level and ensure the picture is square on the surface you are projecting onto. This of course is something that will be even better when using the freestyle using an external battery (which i havent done) but when going from projecting onto my wall onto my ceiling it would take not more than 3 seconds to correct itself and choose the best settings. I can of course manually set the size of the screen and move the actual projection area to better suit the surface im projecting onto. e.g to miss out weird outcroppings or ensure its not projecting onto my chest of drawers.Overall i enjoy the freestyle and the only thing i would change is the mini hdmi port. A USB C port would have opened up a lot more options now and into the future, though with access to so many apps the limited connection options can be forgiven in my opinion.

Excellent design and usability

Well, first of all I must start saying I don't understand the lowest stars reviews. I am not a projector veteran, but without innovations like this Samsung The Freestyle be sure I would never be. Projectors are quite demanding beings, they've always been. They require proper cabling, proper energy supply, dedicated input and output, dedicated heathsink, dedicated light conditions. Really, projectors are among the most impractical things out there. And well, we all know this since the beginning! So, stop yelling of being disappointed about this product. I've got before only one projector, purchased specifically for one single, simple, basic task, which was to project ebooks in the evening. And well, we all know this since the beginning! So, stop yelling of being disappointed about this product. I've got before only one projector, purchased specifically for one single, simple, basic task, which was to project ebooks in the evening. I would not have purchased a projector for other, more demanding uses, like replacing a TV display, for the impracticalities mentioned above. I ensure you I've made some research around the world of projectors, before realising that projectors were not quite for me. And previous to this The Freestyle entered the market, I was sure I was right. Besides the projectors whose prices are thirty times above the budget, all the other consumer projectors in the market have something (intentionally?) missing... one is excellent but too large, one is excellent but too heavy, one is excellent but hasn't the lastest wireless, one is excellent but cannot be charged with powerbanks, one is excellent but is too small, one is excellent but has no auto tilt function, one is excellent but cannot be attached to the wall, one is... well, you got it, it goes on and on like this. It looks like a trap for money. Better even not to start at all. Yet, finally this Samsung The Freestyle came out, and finally I've seen something not wanting to compromise at all costs. Okay, it was expensive when it came out at £999, but if it were cheaper, it might have been confused with the tons of crap things that is still out there, and simply this is not. It is a very well designed and realized piece of kit, capable of being effortlessly set up, packed with the most recent technologies, put together to be enjoyable to use in seconds, anywhere you feel it is movie time. I think it must have been fruit of some brilliant marketing insight. I would have never been happy in putting my money in one of the many other projectors which are always missing some feature unless you are ready to buy the most expensive of them, and still be ready to remain unsatisfied when a new tech will come out in three months. With this The Freestyle I feel honestly served well. I've got a package truth to its design, minimalistic and of quality, easy to use and to enjoy, which is above my expectations on all the important things: excellent image, robust sound, seamless connection, silent, quality charger and cable, handy remote, well in general better performance than expected. I don't know if I would have purchased this without discount, but I was certainly putting this above all the many "kind of affordable, overachieving in something and underperforming in something else" other projectors in the market, even when it was at 999.

Good Projectors but with a few niggles

Apologies for the block of text I can't seem to put breaks in ------ As with other reviews due to stock issues, I've only had this for a couple of days.Upon opening the projector I was genuinely surprised at how small and compact it really was. Having been used to giant "budget" projectors to get everything in such a small package was pretty impressive. Love that the remote has a solar cell in it to top us the battery BUT as you can't use this projector in sunlight bright enough to charge it, and as this has to spend most of its life inside (due to a lack of battery) don't think I'm going to get much use out of it.Once out of the box I just pointed it at a random wall and the image automatically adjusted which was magic to watch. Being honest I then spent about 5 mins just aiming it at different walls and seeing if it would adjust (spoiler it did). The interface is super easy to navigate if you've ever had a Samsung TV, and as I've got a Galaxy fold 4 the pairing to the Samsung's Smart things app was super slick as well. I've tried a few apps and all seems pretty slick. The 360 sound was impressive for such a small set of speakers, and the gaming mode through the dedicated Xbox app was great when you could pair an Bluetooth controller directly to the projector. So onto the slight niggles: Whilst I get this is "Portable" the fact that you dont get a battery in the box, means yes you can move it around easily but you still need a power socket. Not exactly the freedom that is promised from the marketing. (I can see that there is a freestyle battery pack but this is another £159!! ouch)Whilst I can pair to my phone and the default apps are good, the lack of an HDMI adapter is super disappointing, especially when it uses a Micro HDMI so none of your existing cables will work. All it would have taken is a micro to full size and it'd be greatThen theres the case, firstly with its carabiner and rugged design this again sells the projector as "portable" when without a battery its def not. Secondly it only holds the projector and nothing else, not the charger, remote or any cables, so you still have to carry all these around with you.All in all I do think this is a great little projector and better than others that I've had previously. The Image is good quality, the adjustments to various surfaces is quick and the range of inbuilt apps is solid. Just stop marketing it as "Portable" and maybe just Space-Saving

Living a few weeks with the Samsung Freestyle 2
16 October 2023

I've been using the Samsung Freestyle 2 projector for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with it. It's lightweight and portable, so I can easily move it from room to room. The picture quality is excellent, with sharp images and vibrant colours. I've watched a variety of content on it, including movies, TV shows, video games, and sports, and everything looks great. One of the things I love most about the Freestyle 2 is its smart TV platform. It has all the major streaming apps, so I can watch my favourite shows and movies without having to connect an external device. I can also use the projector to mirror my smartphone or tablet screen, which is great for gaming or watching presentations.Another great feature is the Freestyle 2's automatic levelling, ... MoreI've been using the Samsung Freestyle 2 projector for a few weeks now, and I'm really impressed with it. This makes it really easy to set up the projector, even if it's not on a level surface.Overall, I'm very happy with the Samsung Freestyle 2 projector. It's a great all-around projector that's perfect for home use.So far I've used the Freestyle 2 in my home as follows:I set it up in my living room to watch movies with my family on the weekends.I use it in my bedroom to project a TV show on the ceiling while I'm falling asleep.I use it in my office to give presentations to clients.Although I haven't yet, I I plan to take it outside in the garden for movie nights with my friends. An improvement would be to have more external connectivity by way of USB as the mini HDMI does limit what I was trying to connect, i.e. SD cards and drones so I could project video footage to it.It would also be great if it could be able to install android apps instead of just the Samsung store apps. Also as it needs to be connected to an external power supply, it does seem somewhat limited as an outdoor device, although if you're using it in the garden it should be fine.Overall, I highly recommend the Samsung Freestyle 2 projector to anyone looking for a convenient and easy-to-use way to watch movies and TV shows on the big screen.

Powerful and Portable
9 October 2023

I admit to being very excited about the arrival of the new Freestyle Gen 2. The projector arrived a couple of weeks after the original date as this is obviously a popular piece of kit! It came with a great carry case that the project slots into perfectly. The power cable was included and to be honest that is pretty much all you need out of the box.Set up was extremely easy (just don’t forget to remove the lens cap!). I was immediately impressed with how quickly the projector auto-adjusted to focus the picture on my bedroom wall. I pointed it up at the ceiling and it pretty much instantly auto adjusted again. It's very impressive and all without me having to do a single thing! The setup steps probably took me about 10 minutes or so and that included the download ... MoreI admit to being very excited about the arrival of the new Freestyle Gen 2. It's very impressive and all without me having to do a single thing! The setup steps probably took me about 10 minutes or so and that included the download of a software update. Once that was done and Wi-Fi connected I was immediately onto the Media home screen, and live tv already playing. As these things go this was one of the simplest tech setups I've had to get things up and running and usable from the start. The Freestyle interface is easy to use and work with. Lots of the key apps are already downloaded, so setting up things like my Amazon Prime and iPlayer accounts was easy. And I also experimented with the Xbox Gaming Pass as I have that as well, and that was very quick to enable. Connecting Bluetooth speakers, headsets and a game controller were also very simple. All in all, it is a simple interface to use and if you need to fine tune anything it is easy to work with and to get into the detail. The gaming experience was a bit laggy, but it does work and I’m going to try a few more options there.Picture quality is fantastic. Even when like me you are projecting onto a white wall with a couple of doors on it! I am just awaiting arrival of a proper screen but even without it I was able to watch films in fantastic quality within very short time after setting things up. There is no noticeable lag, the brightness is great (even in a room not completely dark) and it's even better than I expected.Expanding the usage of the projector is also simple. With a HDMI Micro cable, and a HDMI micro to normal adapter, I have been able to connect my laptop and my Firestick to give me complete flexibility.Overall this is a great projector and I can’t wait to take it on holidays and trips as well as use it much more at home!

Really cool toy for the kids!
10 October 2023

I've bought a few projectors over the years and as I didn't want one fixed to the wall, or a dedicated cinema room set up, they've all been a pain to set up each time I want to watch a film or set up a movie night for the kids. The Samsung Freestyle 2nd Gen is a game changer for someone like me. So simple to set up in a couple of minutes. FIrst time opening the box, I plugged it in, it registered on my Smartthings app, and I was watching trailers on the built in apps on my kitchen ceiling! The real game changer is the auto picture set up. Swivelling the base of the projector, it now pointed to the wall, the image suddenly snapped square and auto-focused. Swivelling the base of the projector, it now pointed to the wall, the image suddenly snapped square and auto-focused. What an amazing bit of kit!I decided to do a movie night for the kids, last time I tried this, I spent about an 20 minutes getting my projector set up on a table, plugging in my amazon tv stick, trying to get the picture square and nicely focused etc. This time around, I simply plugged it in, turned it on and pointed it at the wall. Job done, kids happy.Since then, I left it on the shelf and the kids have been watching Netflix, Prime Video and BBC iPlayer on the built in apps. I think it might just be their new best toy!Looking forward to using it over Halloween and Christmas to cast pumpkins and snowflakes/santa on the wall to add that extra spooky/festive effect to the house.Overall a really cool piece of technology. When I compare to my other projector, the only real negative I can find is that the image does not have the best black contrast and the image is not very bright (my other projector is a beast that kicks out what must be the brightness of the sun, whilst sounding like an airraft taking off). Apart from that, I can't really fault it. The software is super responsive, the image is sharp and the motion on moving images is smooth. Really happy with the projector, I think it might be time to sell my other one!A few extra bits to note:"Tap to view" is amazing! I can tap my Samsung Galaxy S23 to the projector and it mirrors my screen - makes it great to view photos and videos with the family.I connected the projector via HDMI to my Samsung Q990B soundbar and Nvidia Shield and had a full blown cinema experience with Dolby Atmos over arc
