A solid working dive watch

A great tool watch. I bought this to replace my Seiko 6309-7049 diver that I bought in Feb ‘85. This watch has similar looks but has the advantage of the Eco-Drive needing only light to charge it. So far, this watch seems robust enough for everything I’ve put it through. I’ve worn it fishing, swimming, shooting, and in daily yard work chores. It hasn’t lost time that I can tell - I don’t do anything precise enough to sync with a world clock. It looks and performs like a solid work watch, but is also nice enough to wear for casual outings.

Best watch I'll ever own.

I love that it's slightly smaller than my Casio Duro but still big enough to read when moving in the water, and how the crown is at the 4 o'clock position rather than the 3 o'clock so that it won't dig into the back of my hand while swimming and exercising. The time indicators and hands glow very brightly with just a bit of sun to charge them. The rubber watch band was built to be durable and so was thick, so I switched it out with a thin nylon NATO ballistic band that should last as long as the watch's 25-year solar-recharged battery. The 20 bars/200 meter water resistance means I can wear it swimming laps in the pool, snorkeling, and freediving without fear of water intrusion into the watch casing. This is the 2nd Eco-Drive Citizens Watch I have purchased directly from citizenwatch.com. Both were bought when they were on sale and in my opinion the Promaster Diver at full price would still be a great buy. I always like this style of dive watch and my only problem was deciding which color/combo to buy. I settle on black/black and love the way it looks on my wrist. The Eco-Drive system, after the initial charge, will keep ticking seemingly forever with any additional light source. I added a tempered glass crystal protector (SINO-SKY from Amazon) that is unnoticeable from a top view but is seen from the side (see photos). I am very happy with both purchases and glad I bought them directly from Citizens.

Every day use
7 December 2023

I actually bought both colors. The blue and black. I ended up keeping the blue one. But it is my favorite watch for everyday use. Super durable and classy. I work out in the watch, I swim in the watch, I go to the beach with it. It’s nice enough as well to wear on a fancy date with my wife. My only issue is how small the date is. That’s the only thing I would change.

Great Watch! Needs Minor Improvements
9 August 2023

This is my first Citizen watch which I purchased for my recent trip to Aruba. I’m not a diver but the watch works flawlessly as intended. Definitely waterproof as I was swimming with it daily. The watch is accurate and has held up well. My only minor gripe is after swimming in salt water daily the strap tends to fade. I washed it daily with mild soap and the color came back. Also the watch strap is very stiff. It does not conform to your arm as well. NATO strap or something softer would be more comfortable. Other than that I’m very satisfied with this watch. Also love that it’s solar powered.

Nice Return From Smartwatches
4 February 2024

Bought this watch as an alternative to a smartwatch which needs regular charging. I decided if wanted to know what time it was in an environment that may have limited access to power, then I needed a durable watch of quality. Though I would have liked it to be a bit larger, it suits my needs perfectly, with the water resistance, ability to read it at night and even being a bit of a eye-catching piece - especially in a world where smartwatches are rapidly becoming the norm.A nice touch was the packaging. As I ordered online, the plain packaging held a mini replica of a SCUBA tank, with the watch being mounted inside. This display reminds you that this is a watch meant to be used, not just admired.

Owned one for over 25 years
19 October 2024

Purchased one of the first Eco-Drive dive watches with rubber watch band. Loved it. Ran like a champ for over 20 years. Just had to buy a new one cuz the stem locking threads gave out and a bit of water got in it. Had it serviced once and the factory did it for free cuz they never saw one so old. My only issue is the rubber watch bands get brittle and crack after a few years and you have to replace them.

THIS IS NOT A WOMENS WATCH!
23 April 2023

1st let me say I LOVED this watch. Great quality, great price. No issues with the packaging, I could care less either way. The reason for the 3 stars, I have a size complaint. This comes up in a women's search. It is supposed to be unisex. There's another that I recently looked at, but in Navy. If you look through all the reviews, especially those with pics, they're ALL men. Why? Because the watch is too big for a woman. It was so large I couldn't make the band small enough, had a ridiculous amount of left over and had to use rubber bands to hold the excess down. I watched some YouTube videos on how to shorten the length, but with a watch that expensive (I didn't get it at the above price), was affraid to try any of them. I didn't want the hassle of looking up the ... More1st let me say I LOVED this watch. Great quality, great price. No issues with the packaging, I could care less either way. I didn't want the hassle of looking up the return policy, I'd worn it for a week..ish and didn't want the hassle of a return either. I ended up giving it to my 16yo son. He liked it, wore it a few times, and now it sits on his dresser. I have several citizen watches and I love the eco drive and their quality. However, I was really disappointed in this one. Why isn't there a smaller one available?!? More importantly, why list it as womens or unisex? It's not. It's a mens watch!

Terrible Strap
27 August 2023

Dear CitizenI have 5 EcoDrive Watches, my first about 20 years. I have liked the quality and their excellent time keeping ability. I also have Gucci and a Rolex Submariner. My newest purchase is a Promaster Dive in blue. EO2028-06LThe strap is the absolute worst strap I have ever owned for a watch. It’s hard, uncomfortable plastic with little give and will not stay tucked in the 2 keepers for holding the slack. These straps looked like silicone in your pictures. If you make a softer strap, that would fit this watch, I would be very interested, or send me the size I need to match one up. I actually pass up wearing it because of the comfort aspect.Thanks.

Tough watch!
2 April 2023

This watch is a Sherman tank. I'm not a diver of any sort. I wear this watch while I perform labor, gardening labor. I'm usually with a shovel or hose, and plants. I'm digging and then using a hose. I'm always being surrounded by water, typically 3 times a week, 12 months out of the year. This watch holds up very well and is very strong. I have had the same watch before. I use it until something falls apart with my daily hand-wringing. That may take +/-15 years with me. This watch has proven very reliable and I look forward to putting it on everyday. Not having to worry about a battery makes life even nicer. This watch is no-nonsense and has been worth the money.
