I am a regular user of DIY hair colour kits. I was attracted to this product because it was marketed as strengthening and repairing hair. The kit comes with disposable gloves, mixing tube and two formulas to mix before application, as well as a generous tube of treatment conditioner. I have thick, coarse, naturally dark long black hair that has been dyed dark brown with quite a bit of grey showing through regrowth. I found that one packet of this was only enough to cover all roots generously. To colour my whole head of hair would definitely require 2 packs. The application was easy, the formula wasn't drippy and easy to use with a hair colouring brush (my own). It does have ammonia but the smell wasn't too bad. The included tube of treatment conditioner was very creamy and immediately coated the dry hair with moisture and smoothness. The tube is quite large and will last weeks used once a week. The results were dark brown on me, rather than medium brown. The grey coverage was excellent, 100% as promised. The contents are enough for me to do a decent root retouch between full colouring - which I will 2 packs for. Overall I was happy with it and will repurchase, possibly trying other lighter colours for a change.

My hair is naturally a chocolate brown and I’ve had my hair tinted black twice professionally. Last time was back in April. My roots were coming and my hair had faded through, so I decided to buy this hair dye and try box dying myself to get a few shades lighter. I read lots of reviews on different dyes and this one came the highest reviewed. I also was told to choose a colour two shades lighter as box dye always comes out dark upon the first wash. What a mistake that was. My roots are now a gingery lightish brown and the rest of my hair is still black!!!!! I don’t recommend anyone with professionally tinted hair to use this. Not only have I ruined my hair and wasted money, I now have to go back to the salon to correct this which will cost even more money and ... MoreMy hair is naturally a chocolate brown and I’ve had my hair tinted black twice professionally. Where to begin... I have (or had) natural ginger hair. I hadn't dyed it for over 20 years as I actually began to like my natural colour. It had recently felt a little dull and the tone I chose was almost exactly my hair colour so I though it might add a little brightness to my natural colour. What it did was shocking.I don't know how it managed it but it lightened my hair making it almost bright orange! It looked so unnatural that I cried.I let it sit for a few days hoping that it might tone down a little but it didn't so I had to purchase more dye. The only darker tone being reddy brown so, now my once beautiful hair is unnaturally copper brownish and I have to live with that.I followed all instructions carefully and left the dye on for the time described. The ... MoreWhere to begin... It had a pleasant ending scent was kind to my hair leaving it soft and shiny.I have also learned a lesson to love what I already had.
I used Nice n easy 8A medium ash blonde on my naturally dark ash blonde hair. When it first dried it looked like I dyed it 6.5. It seems to be getting a little lighter with each wash, I think it’s a 7 now. So hopefully it’ll eventually get to the color it’s supposed to be. I usually use L’Oréal preference 8A and my hair ends up exactly the color on the box. However, my hair looks and feels healthy after the nice n easy, which it definitely doesn’t after I use the L’Oréal preference hair color. And the nice n easy smells so much better and didn’t bother my scalp at all. So despite the problem with the color, I’d try nice n easy again. My hair is very fine, curly, and high porosity. So maybe that’s why the dye took too well. Maybe I need to try a lighter color or not ... MoreI used Nice n easy 8A medium ash blonde on my naturally dark ash blonde hair. Used this product as my greying hair coming through mostly at the roots. Mixture very easy to mix full instructions enclosed along with gloves and a conditioner for when completed. I put the product mainly on my roots but near the end combed it right through my hair so to blend. Overall quite a good coverage although some grey hairs didn't colour properly and not sure why as there was plenty product and head was completely wet with solution.I left on for the recommended 25 mins rinsed etc in shower and then used the conditioner and left in for 2 mins then rinsed off . My hair looks good on the whole but grey hairs at the side did not take colour well. But overall I'm pretty happy for it being a home kit and result was about 90% overall coverage. They've messed with the colour and formula. I have fine dark brown hair with natural red undertones. I purchased Medium Ash Brown 5A to lighten my hair a couple of shades and cancel out the natural red in my hair. Firstly, the blue bottle is gone and it's a tube you have to squeeze into the bottle, so more fuss. As it was developing the foam looked reddish which was odd, then the end result was light - medium orange/red hair, exactly what I don't want! There are no cool tones or ash colour just warm orange/red especially at the roots. This was applied to natural hair. I've been using this shade for years and they've changed the formula, colours and packaging, it's all worse. I checked online and others are saying the same, that this is a warm shade. My scalp has been sore all day. How could they go so wrong? The best was the original formula when it was owned by P&G. I'm so upset and disappointed with this hair shade, it will need correcting and more time wasted and damage to my hair. This is not an ash brown but an irange/red brown, so misleading of Clairol, read other reviews before purchase.
I was very worried as I'd let my gray roots grow out about 2 inches. I was expecting "hot roots" which is when the roots, because they are SO MUCH LIGHTER than the rest of the hair, turn out a few shades lighter than the rest of hair. NOT SO! I have rich, lush EVEN color coverage by following the directions on the box to the letter. I've tried many leading, more expensive brands but Clairol Nice & Easy 'Dark Auburn, 4R' , is the absolute WINNER, HANDS DOWN, for beautiful, rich color that looks natural. Not too brassy red and looks natural. I am 62 years old and have been dying my hair for over 20 years . You won't be disappointed with this product. This review is for both products. Clairol is my tried & true go-to for excellent coverage & lovely 4R Dark Auburn color!
Have been using 10b for a couple of years on chin length hair, but got bored with the colour & wanted to go back to my natural colour. So I purchased the 7cb, did a strand test (I STRONGLY RECOMMEND YOU DO THIS) from the strand test I worked out that after applying all over hair including darker roots (4 mins) I only needed the 7cb on for a further 20 minutes to reach the exact same colour as on the front of the box(matching my natural colour). My root regrowth of 1cm now exactly matches the rest of my hair perfectly! I have used 7CB in the past & I have noticed that the longer you leave it on the more it turns Auburn colour (I used to leave it on for 45 minutes & it turned quite dark Auburn. I have learned something new today!!!
I received this product complimentary from Clairol in exchange for my honest review. My hair color was red brown, but I was looking to tone the red down a bit. I was apprehensive if this color would have as much cover as I wanted. Personally,I prefer applying my color from a bowl & brush. I like to be sure that the strands are fully and evenly saturated. It was easy to mix ,however the consistency is a bit thin for brush application. I did get some on my clothes and immediately cleaned it off.No discoloration or stains were left behind thankfully. Just be mindful of your application if handling by brush & bowl instead of the bottle method.Being sensitive to scents and suffering with allergies I did not find this to be bothersome in any way.The scent is subtle and ... MoreI received this product complimentary from Clairol in exchange for my honest review. I followed the processing instructions and applied the conditioner after the coloring was finished. The Nice N Easy did not leave my hair, feeling dry or damaged afterward. I like that you are given extra conditioner to protect and keep your color fresh. I colored my hair on Dec 21, 2022 and five weeks later it is still looking good. A great match to my natural hair color.Hard for me to detect where my haircolor begins and where the Nice N Easy ends. The haircolor adds dimension, highlights and shine. I would certainly use this product again and happily recommend it. Thank you Clairol.
