This is a great product that tides me over between dyes. The powder binds to the surface of hair to blend away grays. Because I have such dark hair the grays are difficult to cover. This product is not full coverage but I am pleased that it effectively provides sufficient coverage that the grays are covered enough to blend nicely into my existing color. I have tried the spray-on root touch up and I do not like it because it transfers onto my fingers when I run them through my hair throughout the day. This product lasts me at least 1 year so it is very cost effective as well. This product washes out with shampoo. Though I have to reapply daily between washes. I have yet to use this to fill in my eyebrows but it’s nice that this product is versatile. I highly recommend and will continue to purchase. #clairolroottouchup

I've tried both spray on root cover up and one with a sponge, in terms of effectiveness, this sits right in the middle. It's not as good as the sponge, but is much better than the spray.One of the things it has going for it over both is that the effects are more subtle. You have to build up the powder to get a decent coverup, but when the light hits it, the hair looks more natural than other products that do this. Another plus is that this looks pretty decent as an eyebrow powder, though the brush is pretty thick for that so I would use your own.It is a bit weird because this looks just like an eyebrow palette (mirror and all), but they are recommending it for hair. Would I get the same results if I put eyeshadow on my hair, who knows? Far stiffer than the sponge on stuff. I'd liken this to wearing a medium or firm hold hairspray. So definitely not something to wear if you want to be touched. While it does transfer from hair to skin (if you use it around the hair near your face), it's actually pretty good about not transferring to pillows and unlike the sponge-on I tried, it doesn't flake either.I would recommend it as an eyebrow powder, but for a hair cover up, I prefer a different format. However, this certainly isn't the worst one I've tried by a long shot.

Best of all the powder root touch ups I've tried

I've spent way too much money on root touch ups, trying to find the best match for my hair. My hair is wavy and fine, but I have a lot of it! I color it darkest brown, from a natural black to cover grays. The dark brown touch ups are still too light, and they give me a halo effect around my face. Because it's mostly around my face where I need the touch up, the spray ons are almost impossible for me to get right. Then there are some that are liquidity that tend to stain my hands and forehead. The powders have been the best for me. I've tried the expensive powders but this is the best one I have found and it comes in black too! Best thing is it does not rub off or leave my hair feeling greasy!

Exactly what I needed!

I was in between root touch ups at my salon and had to attend a funeral. I had a lot of pure white showing around my hairline and I hate the root touch up sprays. I was excited to see this powder touch up. This worked great for me as a temporary solution. My hair also looked fuller after applying it around my hairline. It only lasts one day and washes out. I didn't wash my hair the following day, but it needed touched up again as it was faded already. I also applied it to my eyebrows to cover a few little grays. If you need a temporary solution to get you by this is great. If you have a lot of gray to touch up I'd probably go with a different product, but if there is just minimal showing you won't be disappointed.

Fantastic product

I don't understand the negative reviews. My guess is they purchased the wrong color or don't know how to apply it properly. I tried out the powder during the pandemic like many people did. I started with another well known brand but as soon as the demand increased, so did the price to the point of ridiculous. I switched to Clairol and couldn't be happier. My first purchase was light brown because I wasn't sure. Light brown was too light so I know if you are having problems with coverage, you need a different color. If you can see a dark line, then you have gone too dark. You have to find the right color. I style my hair and where ever the part falls, that is the area I color. Get the part you want!

This is incredibly effective for covering grays on dark hair AND for covering a light scalp when you have thin hair. The only drawback is it is a powder, so it will come off on say, a light colored hat, headband, pillowcase, etc. Even after I have my roots freshly dyed I like to use this to cover my scalp and get a sharp part line. My hair is very thin so I don’t naturally have a narrow, sharp-edged part line. This stuff is a lifesaver and works SO well. It does not look fake and it is very easy to apply. In my photo I have the touch up on one half and nothing on the other. You can see how natural it looks…and how effective it is. My roots are grown out at least half an inch in this photo.

So Happy With Product

I dyed my hair to get rid of this particular patch of grey hair that to me, looks like a bald spot. Granted my hair is thinning bt this patch of grey really makes it stand out. To my dismay, the greys did not dye. Cannot redye my hair for over a month so this left me distressed. Bought this Clairol Root Touch-Up Temporary Hair Color Powder to cover up that particular patch of grey. SO HAPPY WITH PRODUCT! It's easy to apply (kinda like applying eye shadow to your head) and it stays until you wash your hair! It blends on my scalp. I even was sweating a bit at my hair line taking the dog for a walk and it didn't come off. It does require some effort to work onto your greys. Just not one single brush to the hair and it's covered but STILL SO HAPPY WITH PRODUCT!

I tried a more expensive brand first and it got way too dark. I ordered light brown in this and it's great. If your roots are white, I think it tends to grab more. So this looks perfect. Very easy to apply. I tried every spray and disliked all of them. This does stay on until I shampoo again. At last something that does what's it's supposed at a very cheap price compared to the other brands.
