Clairol Root Touch Up No Ammonia 4 Dark Brown 1 Pack

I received this Clairol root touch-up by Natural Instincts Permanent Hair Color in dark auburn to try in exchange for my honest review and this could not have come at a better time. I always keep my hair auburn and when this came in the mail I was already rocking some roots that needed done. I’m no spring chicken and I do have some gray hairs that need to be covered up also. This kit came with everything that I needed to do my hair and had clear and easy directions to follow. It was easy to mix up, went on easy and did a nice job covering my roots and blending with the rest of my hair. I would not hesitate to reach for this product again to do my roots especially if I was short on time and needed something quick and easy to get my hair back to looking great.

This Root Touch up from Clairol worked great on my gray hairs peeking through! Product was the right consistency and was easy to mix and apply with the brush and bowl that were included. The instructions were very easy to follow. I loved that it was a cream texture, unlike others which are messy. It covered all my greys and it only took not more than 5 minutes to apply. I waited 10 minutes and it was done. What I really like about the product was there was no toxic or chemical smell that you get with other products. I will now be using this product regularly as it is gentle and not damaging to my hair.

I received the Root Touch-Up by Natural Instincts product for free from Influenster and Clairol in exchange for my honest review. It was very convenient to use because it came with a nice angled brush and a disposable mixing bowl (and gloves of course). All I had to do was mix the color developer and apply. It washed out easily and I didn’t notice a lot of hair loss like I sometimes do when I dye my hair with other products. The color actually turned out pretty well; it wasn’t too light and it looks natural. It covered most of my grays, but I can see some copper-colored hairs here and there, which isn’t noticeable and doesn’t look bad. I’d say the gray coverage isn’t exactly 100% but it’s close. It may have been even less if I had left it on for only 20-25 min as suggested by the box though. A slightly darker color may have worked better for me too. I usually buy a full container of dye and use 1/3rd of it each time I color my roots. This package, while very convenient and easy to use, is not cheaper than a box for full coverage. I’m going to keep the brush and re-use it but will probably continue to purchase the full sized product because it ends up being 1/3rd the price. I would recommend this product if it’s your first time dyeing your roots, or if you’re traveling as it is super convenient to use if you don’t already have a brush and mixing bowl. Plus you don’t have to measure out how much dye and developer to use each time (I eyeball it and it tends to work fine) and clean up is very easy.

I actually went ahead and saved that brush after getting it all cleaned up. It was made so nice, it certainly would be a nice thing to have on hand for future hair treatments etc. The one thing that did disappoint me about the package contents is that there was no after-care conditioner included like all hair dye products have included in the package along with the actual dye. I and not exactly sure why this was not included in this root touch- up product. I will say, this is my first time ever using a root touch-up product as I normally use a hair dye product for all over coverage, so there must be some type of reasoning behind not including the conditioner. Nonetheless, wasn't happy about the no conditioner issue. That all being said, I did only notice a difference in the color of my roots after properly using this. However, I'd likely have to adjust the timing if I ever planned to use this again because I kept it on my roots the desired length of time as per the instructions included within the box and it did appear to me to be a slightly different color than the rest of my hair. This is a common occurrence for me any time I go to the salon for root touch-ups and it is quite frustrating to say the least . All in all, I personally don't think I will purchase this product in the future for use on my own hair as I am simply not a big fan of root touch-up products in general. This does not exactly speak to the quality of this product necessarily. I just prefer to dye my entire head of hair as opposed to just the roots. However, I would probably still recommend this product specifically for someone who happened to be looking for a decent root touch-up dye for themselves as I honestly believe this is a pretty good product.

Let me tell you she was not a willing participant it took a lot of convincing as she is comfortable with her gray and I currently have braids in my hair and recently had my hair dyed so I need to use my mom’s hair as she has never in her life dyed her hair, Ever! Well the change was so subtle that you really couldn’t tell that this application was ever used. She was impressed that it didn’t make her look like she was going through a mid life crisis and that it just tinted her hair. I on the other hand was looking for full coverage of the gray… so she was satisfied but not enough to do her entire hair…. She would t let me take a picture either cause she was a bit uncomfortable. After 4 years of letting my hair heal and be healthy it's finally to the top of hip bone (was a chin length bob), while also dying my roots dark brown over the last few years, then gradually dying them a lighter shade each time, I got over my fear of causing damage to my hair I worked hard on growing out. It didn't have that overwhelming harsh smell which made the process more plesent. I had no burning or itching while Iwaited the alloted time after rinsing it out and waiting for my hair to dry my roots aren't noticeably grown out anymore and pretty much covered, only complaint is us who have thick hair could use a little more product in the bottle to where it doesnt feel like you have to make it stretch and hope you have enough to cover all your roots. thankfully there was just barely enough to cover my whole root area but it was cutting it close. also I could have use a shade darker but that's totally my fault. i also didnt notice any dryness or icky feeling in my hair so thats a relief. all in all it's a pretty good product. The color is a bit of from my natural hair color, however,I love this color, and I love that my hair was left soft and shiny. The only thing I can say that I didn't like was that is was just for the roots but only because I prefer a full all over hair color. So that’s how I ended up going to a Salon and letting the professionals do it there. But with this product, I found the process to be simple and easy, from start to finish. I did get the end result of color that was on the box and all my grays were colored in the process too, just like the box said it would and it didn’t stink like some of the other brands I had used in the past. I will definitely be using this again. I have received a lot of compliments on my hair color and have even been asked what Salon do I use. So I told them it’s a new one in town called Clairol 6.5!!

I was skeptical to try this because my roots were SO light! I was afraid that the color would not mix well. I was so wrong! This is very easy to do yourself and very quick. I parted my hair as usual, used the brush to brush out the color, also a couple more sections and the area around the hairline. It had WAY more than enough color. Having naturally blonde hair and the fact that blonde color is very difficult to keep bright and pigmented, this helps tremendously between salon visits. I am so happy I stumbled across this...and that my husband convinced me to try it! I will definitely use this between hair appointments. and I will also share my extremely positive experience with my friends and family.
