CLR fixed our toilet!!! We have a 5 year old Toto toilet (worth around $800 CAD) that we inherited when we bought our house two years ago. It started to not flush well about six months ago but we couldn’t figure out why. Turns out there was calcium and lime build-up in the front of the toilet at the bottom, where it sends out water with force from the tank, but the build-up was inside the tunnel- thing (sorry, I don’t know the name for it!) where the water shoots out and not that evident from just having a look from above. A plumber helped us out virtually and asked us to take a picture and video from a certain angle and then explained how it works, and that he did not see water coming out from that opening. It should be coming out with a lot of force, but the limescale build-up was blocking the flow. He recommended emptying the tank and bowl as much as possible and then pouring in a litre of CLR. We let it sit for an hour, scrubbed the limescale with a bottle brush to loosen it, and then flushed. Works like a new toilet now! And to think we almost replaced it thinking it was just old (before we found out what year it was installed, from the serial number) and not working well!!!! CLR worked the same way on another toilet in our house that we gave the same treatment to, just for the heck of it, having some extra CLR left over. That toilet was working fine, so we thought....but once we did that same CLR treatment it flushed in half the time and much more efficiently. We had no idea it needed it but we noticed a huge difference afterwards!

My kitchen sink, showers and water hose sprayer attachment were all clogged with lime. I could not brush them out or use a pick to make them spray like new. I put the CLR in a small bucket along with all of my sprayers. I seen fizz immediately as the product began to eat through the lime. Half an hour later I check on everything. The water hose sprayer still had some fizz so I left it in longer. The others I reinstalled and tested them out. Just like new they had no problems spraying anymore. I had the same results with the water hose sprayer after it was done fizzing.

I've been drinking this stuff for weeks. It's not giving me the calcium like I thought it would. It also doesn't taste like limes at all. As far as the rust part, I guess that's the only truth to this stuff. About 20 mins after drinking a full glass, there's all this rust in the toilet bowl. Like they say, two outta three ain't bad...

The water in Glendale is crazy full of calcium.. ruins everything! I have an evap cooler I use on my patio that I have running from sun up to sun down all summer long.. the buildup of calcium ends up making it so the water barely runs along the coils in the back. With the bottom tank full of water, I dump about 1/2 a bottle of CLR and let it run on high for about 20 minutes.. then open up the bottom drain and keep running water until the foam is gone. I also use a 50/50 solution in a watering can to soak the coils in the back (even though the pump runs the water over them).I'm guessing this has added years to my unit being able to keep working. Been doing this for the past 5 years and so far, so good.
Product works well…..that’s why I bought it. Deals with rust and calcium stains well in my opinion. Have to mention great customer service. The flooding closed the pickup store but I was contacted by phone and text of an alternative solution that suited me. Well done!
I was so disgusted with one of our toilets, no matter what I used in it to clean it, there was this hard build-up in the bottom. The toilet is a newer style and not old enough to be replaced.Cleaning the past week, I decided to see what some CLR would be able to do to it. So I poured, probably 2 cups of CLR into the bowl and closed the lid.About 3 hours later, I went back and flushed the toilet. I can't tell you how happy I was from that flush and the CLR!! There was just a tiny spot left in the bottom, which came right off with the toilet bowl brush!!It is pristine now!
I really liked this product. It really cleans out my shower head and swivel faucet. It also works really good on your drum style, or waffer style humidifiers. Cleans out the bowl and cleans off the foam, waffers and floats. Just soak them in pale overnight. Fill accordingly. Rinse off everything and put back together. Keep your CLR. It's good for a lot more uses still !
I bought the CLR to remove the calcium buildup inside my cordless kettle. I followed the instructions exactly as written and it didn't work.Yes, I had a thick buildup, but I thought multiple applications would do the job. Well, they didn't. By multiple applications I mean I used the whole CLR bottle on the one kettle.Out of frustration, I decided to try a suggestion I found on the internet. I put vinegar inside the kettle and left it overnight. Guess what, next morning there was no calcium left.
i have a porcelain sink with a rust ring around the base as a result of the metal from the stopper piece touching the sink (there should be a rubber part that prevents these two from touching---and has since been repaired). i got this cleaner to try to remove the rust ring. i tried the 50/50 dilution at first with no avail, despite scrubbing away at the rust with a toothbrush after letting the cleaner sit on it for like 15 minutes. i then let the cleaner undiluted sit on the rust for 1 hour and still did not get all of it up with scrubbing. fairly convinced that this cleaner is not doing what i bought it for. maybe i'm doing it wrong? i even tried the cleaner soaked paper towel on top of the area. luckily it doesn't seem to be damaged the sink or metal pieces. also- ... Morei have a porcelain sink with a rust ring around the base as a result of the metal from the stopper piece touching the sink (there should be a rubber part that prevents these two from touching---and has since been repaired). i got this cleaner to try to remove the rust ring. i tried the 50/50 dilution at first with no avail, despite scrubbing away at the rust with a toothbrush after letting the cleaner sit on it for like 15 minutes. i then let the cleaner undiluted sit on the rust for 1 hour and still did not get all of it up with scrubbing. fairly convinced that this cleaner is not doing what i bought it for. maybe i'm doing it wrong? i even tried the cleaner soaked paper towel on top of the area. luckily it doesn't seem to be damaged the sink or metal pieces. also- compared to other cleaners, this one seems less economical.
Okay, I know what the instructions tell and that you are not supposed to use it on copper, aluminum, etc. But I was getting tired of my heater not working in our brutal Saskatchewan winter. I flushed the system many times during the last 2 years and tried many different solutions, all in vain. My radiator (heater core) was always clogged and was blowing icy cold air. So I decided to try this CLR stuff. Again, I was aware of all the risks, the last thing I wanted was to do any damage to my heater core. I disconnected the hoses from the heater, drained the antifreeze, then diluted this product with water 50%, then filled the heater and let it sit literally for 3-5 minutes. I was afraid that it could do some damage and could cause a leak, but I was willing to take the ... MoreOkay, I know what the instructions tell and that you are not supposed to use it on copper, aluminum, etc. But I was getting tired of my heater not working in our brutal Saskatchewan winter. I was afraid that it could do some damage and could cause a leak, but I was willing to take the risk, this was my last hope, as I said I tried many solutions and different products, which are assumable designed specially to clean radiators, etc. None of them worked, except this one. After few minutes I drained this solution, flushed the radiator (heater) with water. Lots or dirt and rust came out. Oh, btw, I flushed it with pressurized air, by using my cheap CT compressor. Then flushed again and again, with water and by using the compressor, and it was always foam coming out. After flushing the heater with water for about 5 times (it doesn't take much liquid, really, maybe 500 grams) I connected back all hoses and added antifreeze and since then my heater is working like a charm. Really happy. I know this is not how you are supposed to use this product, I know it was stupid and risky, but it worked for me. Please don't use to clean your clogged radiators, but if you decide to do so - it might indeed work ;) I would be very careful to make sure this stuff doesn't get into your engine and doesn't touch any hoses, thermostats, seals, etc.
