I would give it a five stars if I had been using it in a tent or eg. in wet conditions to really prove its worth and function, but I haven't yet. What I can say is that the lamp is really tiny, lightweight, seems well-made and quite robust, and it shines brightly. As I have a small tent, it is just what I was looking for, and for that price, you can't go wrong. The little keychain is robust as well. It's a really cute lamp :)

This is a great little lantern. I found that it would fit inside a repurposed small amber plastic prescription pill bottle along with two extra batteries and an 18-inch piece of floral wire folded. It keeps everything together. Floral wire can be used to tie lantern to a tree limb. Bottle can be used with lantern turned on inside to flash an amber light for fifty hours as an alert or warning. You can buy two spare CR2032 batteries for a dollar at Dollartree.

The flashlights are cute but smaller than I imagined. The 5 year old is able to crank it. The 3 year old is working on it! Photo is in the hand of the 5 year old.

My grandson, (age 6), loved the mini hand-crank flashlight that he received for Christmas. When on the computer recently, attending a "virtual" cub scout meeting, his activity was to get all the items he would need for a camping trip. He remembered the mini flashlight that he received and was so glad to have it for his "virtual" camping trip! A happy Grandma who made a good selection.
Purchased the light 3 months ago, initially the product operated as expected, 1 minute of cranking time one would receive about 20 minutes of light, however as time wore on, the charge would not hold. One could crank for 1 minute and one would receive only 5 minutes of light. The light was disassembled and a 3.6 volt button cell battery was found to hold the charge. Measuring 10 mm by 10 mm, the button battery cannot be locally sourced. A replacement battery can be found online, however the battery cost more than the light It is a novelty but nothing I would depend on. Most of my purchases from MEC typically pass the test of time, this light failed badly.
The Coghlan's Dynamo Flashlight LED Wind-Up Torch Hand Crank Emergency Light w/Clip has a very bright light and appears to hold a charge for a long time. I found that the clip makes it possible to attach the light to the zipper on my winter coats which could be useful at times. It is not hard to crank up the battery charge. It amazed me that I could get such a good light in such a small flashlight. I bought just one initially to see if I liked it and I did like it. So, I bought more which I have not yet received. I think these lights would make great stocking stuffers for Christmas.

Love this little dynamo light. Although the gears are plastic, they feel and sound tight while cranking. I expect to get years of off and on use out of this little light. Love the idea of not having to replace batteries. And reliable on call service with zero maintenance. Have a number of them stashed in various places: Car glove boxes, emergency supply packs, kitchen misc tool drawer, etc.
