Very important information. Read me first. I have used Johnson Johnson dental floss, (the green floss shown in the photo) for about 50 years! I have been frustrated that it FRAYS. But you must floss, so 50 years go by, then my dentist gave me the perfunctory new Colgate toothbrush, a itsy bitsy teeny weeny Colgate toothpaste tube and Colgate floss. Of course, you throw this in some corner or drawer and then forget about it. Well, this time, I tried the Colgate floss. HOLY SMOKES! It doesn't fray! It doesn't fray! Can you believe it, no matter what I do, it doesn't fray into tiny fibers that gets stuck between my one or two close fitting teeth. Oh my gosh, if you are looking for THE BEST dental floss in the entire world, then look no further: Colgate Floss is the one ... MoreVery important information. Read me first. I never thought I would be one of those people that would complain yet here I am. When I read the other reviews I was happy to see that I am not alone in my feelings and others have experienced the same as me. This floss is the worst!! I have been a long-time user of Colgate products and found their floss to be the best. Saw the cool new packaging, great. Used the floss, awful! It is so much thicker, is hard to fit between my teeth, gets stuck between certain teeth then takes mega effort to pull out, the wax comes off on my hands, and I didn't even think about the white flakes that I probably have between my teeth now because of it, and if it gets too wet it's so slippery that it's unusable and I have to get a new piece of floss just to finish the job. It just sucks! To be honest I don't even know why I am still using it, most likely because I didn't know what else to get but someone suggested the Coles brand so I'll give that a try. Honestly, change the packaging all you want, but if there was nothing wrong with the original formula, why change it? Surely before this change was approved it would've been tested for efficacy? I don't know what made the think this was a good idea, but I truly hope Colgate is taking all these reviews on board, listens to their customers, and goes back to the original formula. Please, we are all begging you. And as they say, if it ain't broke, why fix it?... Show more

Hi Colgate- how can you continue to sell this product given all the negative feedback you are getting on the change in the product? You say you are taking on board the feedback yet nothing has changed. I am a long time user of this floss and the product is terrible now- why did you change something that wasn't broken as it was a very good product. Did your quality team even try this product themselves before releasing into the market? The tape is thicker which you can tell instantly by the packaging size change given the 100m pack has doubled in size, it now splits apart when using and you cant actually get it in between your teeth anymore due to the thickness and it is very firm instead of soft and silky like it used to be. Have used the old style Colgate floss for years. It was great. Now Colgate have completely changed the product and it is terrible. It’s too thick and doesn’t have the nice flat ribbon profile of the old one, shreds instantly, you can’t get it between your teeth, then it gets stuck and you can’t get the broken shreds out and you feel like you’re almost pulling your teeth out. And with all the manhandling you end up with sore injured gums! And while the outer plastic blister pack has been replaced by cardboard (good), the actual plastic floss dispenser is twice as big as the old one, so more plastic rather than less (bad). I’m literally shaking my head wondering how on earth Colgate can have thought this change was a good idea. Really, did no one think to actually ... Disingenuous response to concerns raised
Thanks Colgate but I was reviewing the 'flavour-free' floss - given this is its product page. The mint flavour's ingredients being unchanged is completely irrelevant. Totally disrespectful of your customers to post something this transparently disingenuous. Sort out your moderation policies. The 'flavour-free' floss has 100% changed - both in ingredients, product and packaging presentation. It is no longer saleable. It has been reported to remove fillings due to its thickness and its new additives actually bring the 'flavour-free' packaging into question. For people that are allergic to these additives, the current packaging is very dangerous.Buy at your own risk. And Colgate - please read reviews in full and respond appropriately to this one.... The best floss out there has now arguably become the worst!
I have been an avid user of the Colgate floss (the old floss) for more than a decade and have used every day. Then the formula changed; what was arguably the best floss on the market, has now become the worst! The old floss would easily slip between my teeth and was a pleasure to use. This new floss formula, with the catch phrase of "multifilament floss", is unusable, with some of those "multifilaments" shearing off between my molars and leaving strands behind between my teeth of which I had to almost go to the dentist to remove. I threw the remaining 99M away, as well as another new 100M box. Absolutely atrocious garbage. Why did you have to go and change a winning formula? The floss is very difficult to use and no longer fits between some of my teeth. Very ... This new version of your Total Mint Waxed floss is utterly dreadful!
My whole family have been using Total Mint Waxed Dental floss since you introduced it years ago. It was by far the best product of its type on the market.I'm an international traveller for my work and loved the compact and efficient container for the 100M version. I saw the new pack recently at the supermarket and thought it must be 500M considering the bloated size of the new packaging. It needs to be, considering how much you have to wrap around your fingers to get it to stop slipping. It's slimy, difficult to use, harder to get between your teeth and shreds. The only positive is that it tastes good. I cannot believe your product development people could have let such a user unfriendly product through your system. I generally love and trust Colgate products, but sadly, this new version is a dismal fail. My only thinking was that the marketing department thought a bigger package would create the perception you're getting more in the pack, and finance thought lubricating the floss would require you to use 3 times as much.Obviously the qualitative research done by the attendees of your focus groups was slanted in some way in this case.. Sadly this new version of the product is a fail.... Show more
