Excellent boots

These boots fit well and provide excellent traction. I wore them on a 24 mile, 3-day hike having only a couple days to break them in, and besides some manageable toe wear, they fit excellently. There were steps where I was certain I would slip and lose footing, but the boots held their own and performed excellently. No complaints. I wear a 10.5 in just about everything, however I felt there was a bit too much room in the toe. Consider trying them on in person or ordering a half size down.

I just got back from a hiking trip in Joshua Tree National Park and these boots held up well. They didn't need to be worn in which was a pleasant surprise (i.e. no blisters!). They are quite comfortable and true to size. I ordered the wide version and didn't have any issues with my baby toe rubbing on the side which is a problem I have had with a lot of other hiking boots. The weather conditions were dry so I can't comment on how they hold up in wet conditions. I'm interested to see how they hold up in rougher trail conditions. Overall, I think they are good value for money.

In terms of fabric, these seem to have a bit of everything thrown into them. You have got the comfort and protection of PU leather, mixed in with the lightness – and style -of suede. The material definitely feels man made and I am a bit doubtful that they will withstand hard use.Waterproofing seems good for the outside of the shoe.To combat sweat, the boot has a highly breathable mesh tongue. This ensures that you don’t end up with the dreaded humid sock at the end of your trip. The laces tie securely and should not move around once done correctly. The soles feel super grippy. You can actually bent the lugs with you fingers. They definitely will help you in wet conditions. However, this feature may shorten their life span.

Great all round boot - needs waterproofing
8 June 2022

So far thesae boots have been great. Good fit, good traction and comfortable overall. I wear custom orthotics and they accept them very well which is big deal for me. I will, however, complain about the water proofing. It seems to have a minimum amount on the leather uppers and I will need to use some after market application. Walking in grass on a rainy day was a soaker. The seams at the tread all seem good though.

Great boots for the price
1 August 2021

So this is the third pair of these boots I have purchased. My first pair I've had for years, and have used as for hiking, camping, light duty work boots, and any other activities that will cause them to get dirty. My second pair became my everyday boot, because these are incredibly comfortable and lightweight, making them ideal for all day use. I purchased this third pair to become my new everyday use boot, and move my current pair to use for hiking, etc.The great part about these boots would have to be the weight and comfort. I also love the style, as they are not super loud, but not bland either. Waterproofing isn't the best, but you're not paying goretex prices either. Improved design
21 December 2021

I bought a pair of these a few years ago as an inexpensive pair of hiking boots. They only lasted a few hikes the stitching on the leather upper seam split. I returned them. The join was where the foot bends and I thought was a design flaw. Last year I bought a pair on sale and noticed the seam had been moved further back from where the toes bend. I have been very happy with this pair and they have lasted well. They are a lightweight hiking boot. I have used them daily throughout the autumn spring and summer. They have kept their waterproofing. The sole’s are aggressive enough and lasting well. I think the fit is true but I did opt for the wide fit to give me the option of wearing a thicker sock. Overall happy with the improved design and ordered another pair.

Men’s Newton Ridge™ Plus II Waterproof Hiking Boot
5 December 2021

I'm a UPS driver, so there are certain shoes which are part of the uniform look. I've been wearing the Timberlands that are very similar to these for well over 10years, but they are getting harder to find. I saw these, and actually had worn Columbia shoes before in the past and liked them. What caught my eye on these was the trim which is done in gold colors, matching our uniforms. I'm currently on my 2nd pair now. What I do like is that unlike the Timberlands when you "scuff" these, it doesn't take the dye off, so the uppers are always looking nice. The negative in my opinion is that the soles wear faster than the other brand. Granted, I do walk about 8 miles a day, but the Vibram soles do seem to hold up better. They work me
19 December 2022

Ok, so I'm picky when it comes to boots. I broke my back and was partially paralyzed. I had 3 surgeries and I am able to walk with again. So, I cannot have a heavy boot and I need waterproof because I live in a mountainous/rocky area. I can't break in boots because it will quickly cause me pain for days. I guess what I'm getting at I'm very picky and need the perfect boot. This fits the bill.I'm about to purchase my 5+ pair of these boots. There is no break in time, they are comfortable! I can walk and wear these much longer than any other boot that I have worn since I got hurt. I will most likely continue to buy these, I wear them daily, all day. I get about 9 months to a year out of these. These are the only boots I wear.

Very good replacement boots
29 November 2022

Great smooth leather boots (so far). Bought them (Nov 2022) to replace a pair of Columbia "Newton Ridge" boots in suede leather (2021). The suede tore on the the left boot (outer side). Thankfully, they were still under warranty. Mailed them back to Columbia, & I got refunded because they couldn't be repaired. Note, on the Columbia website the diagonal strip at the heel of these boots has a smokey blue-gray tint. But when I received them the diagonal strip is actually smokey black. I realize this is a minor issue & doesn't impact the boot's quality. Lastly, I purposely bought a 1/2 size larger (11.5 D vs 11 D) because I find that Columbia boots & shoes tend to run a little small.

nice set of boots, I like them/ hope they stand up to our 104 hot pavement around the RGV summers (thin soles do not),
20 April 2023

nice pair of boots, fit nicely. Seem well constructed, ready for my simple walking around (rather than hiking many trails), but I suspect many of us use our boots like that anyway. Comfortable light boot format, so, I am not sure you would want to do 100lb packs but if you are doing light or mid-weight I think these would be fine. **break them in anyway first/ Columbia sent break in instructions (so, that's always a good idea anyway to form the creases where they should go for your walking style and keep your feet happy).
