I have over three decades of picking out my own clothes - so know something about what quality, durability, and even luxury are. Seriously, these are so lightweight you'll think you're walking around buck-naked, they have plenty of pockets, a great fit (not grabby, nor too loose or dumpy looking).Best - they pass my 'girlfriend test' - when she said she "loved the way I look in them" - I went back and bought 3 more pair. I left the other cargos in the hotel room.. Another BIG benefit I discovered is how tight they pack down. I can fit (more than) 6 pair of Silver Ridge in the same footprint I could the 4 pair of the old cargos. (I roll my clothes). They also got the sizing right, the length in regards to waist ratio means the back of the pant-legs don't drag on the ground,The rest of the trip was fantastic, be it almost falling down a cliff in Honduras (after my iPhone and camera lens), to going out to nightclubs in Havana or Rio or Monaco - they do everything, go everywhere, and stand up to anything.Only suggestion would be to make the inner pockets stronger. The 'net' is lightweight, and so far haven't had any issues, but wonder how well they will stand up to keys and other objects long term? I plan to wear these pants as long as I walk the earth.Other ideas? Some camouflage or other colors might be cool.It rare to fall in love in this life, but I LOVE these pants!

Years ago, I bought a pair like these with zip-on bottoms from Columbia to take on bicycle trips and have been very impressed with them. So, when I found these Silver Ridge cargo pants, I was eager to get them. They are identical to the quality material of the zip-ons and fit perfectly. Lightweight and rugged, they stand up to anything so they now replace my jeans as everyday pants. The pockets are very useful with strong mesh backing. The only thing I had to do was use an iron-on strip of fabric glue in one pocket to keep my phone from turning sideways in the pocket. Works great and lasts. I highly recommend these pants.

Good trekking pants
17 January 2023

Good fit. Lots of big pockets The inside leg has a strange double seam. I bought the men's pants due to better pockets and features that aren't available in women's so maybe it has the feature for extra room, but it still seems weird that the gusset goes all the way down the leg. It made the bottoms of the legs too baggy, so I sewed the 2 seams close together to about 3 quarters of the way up each leg. It needs some of the room to make sitting more comfortable. Since I am using for canoeing that is a good feature. The inside of the waist band is soft like flannel and very comfortable and has a small amount of elastic, but not too much. Overall I am pretty happy with the pants but the picture makes them look more tapered in the leg than they actually were. My husband ... MoreGood fit. Lightweight, good material; poor design
21 August 2021

I've worn these pants now on 3 separate hiking / camping trips and am just not impressed. The material is lightweight & maybe their design choices would work better for someone else but here are the specifics:The fitI am 6'-1" tall & weigh about 150lbs. my normal pants size (32) was too small to put my hands in the pockets, so I ordered the next size up (34) & now I am constantly cinching the built in belt (which doesn't stay tight). This is particularly problematic when backpacking as the hip belt of the pack is constantly pushing my pants down & every hundred paces I have to stop and pull them up again. The pockets are made of mesh.Pro: you wont get a lot of dirt or and in your pocket and they stay a tiny bit coolerCon: you cannot carry anything in the ... MoreI've worn these pants now on 3 separate hiking / camping trips and am just not impressed. For me, I'll keep looking.

Love these pants
11 September 2022

Surprisingly pleased with these pants. Based on low price, I was afraid the quality and fit of the pants would not be great, but the fears were misplaced. They are lightweight, as advertised, but will be great for all seasons but winter. And sometimes lighter weight pants look a bit sloppy and hang loose, but these pants fit great and look super nice. I wear a 36x32 and the fit was perfect. The two side pockets are very nice and large enough to be useful without making the pants look sloppy. One of the pockets even has a nice zipper for extra security. They really are very comfortable when sitting or hiking/walking. The pockets are all deep enough with a mesh type inside material that will breathe and also appears to be very sturdy for long wear. They also are ... MoreSurprisingly pleased with these pants. They also are wrinkle free after washing and I'm betting they will pack very well. In fact, I believe they will be the perfect travel pant and I'll find out in about a month. I got the Tusk color which is true to the color on the web site. I've had Columbia's Omni shade protection before on clothing and it seems to work very well. The only think I'm not wild about is the belt. Although it looks nice enough it's pretty light weight and I'll probably use a leather belt most of the time. The belt was a bonus is the way I look at it.I'm buying another pair in a grey color. I highly recommend these pants.

Mostly excellent

I have worn this line of pants for many years now. They have always been one of my top picks for hiking, kayaking and other outdoor activities here is at times hot and humid Southwest Florida. These pants are light and airy and move well. They do not really stretch but they do not encumber free movement so they don't need to stretch. What you should know. I believe these are most comfortable ordered 1 size up from your normal size. That is my experience, yours may be different. What I do not like in the latest version is the now extra shiny look which is likely for UPF 50. I would rather have the older look which I believe was rated 30 Ultraviolet Protection Factor. I also do not care for the OmniShade applique branding now prominent on the leg and not show in the ... MoreI have worn this line of pants for many years now. All in all these are great pants if you are outdoors and value lightweight, freedom of movement, and quick drying.

Have bought several silver ridge products, including cargo, utility, and convertible pants, and a 2.0 long sleeved shirt. I've liked them all. The website on my PC screen tends to show slightly darker than they are in person. The website descriptions are a little sparse on the differences.FYI cargo is regular fit with slightly wider leg openings at the ankle. It has large zipper pocket on left leg and large velco flap pocket on right. Both back pockets have velcro flaps. The convertible and utility are straight fit so leg openings at ankle are a little slimmer. The convertible side pockets are same setup as cargo, but are much higher due to placement of zip off legs at the knee. These are great!
13 September 2023

I've been trying for a while to get a second pair for hot, hot weather to have a backup for a discontinued style and with these I've finally found the right ones. They are very lightweight, breatheable, and a nice color. 100% nylon is the way to go! I tried a couple other pairs with a slight percentage of stretcy material and I was not happy with them - didn't breathe as well, fabric stuck to my skin in the heat, uncomfortable! But these are what I need to be out working in the middle of summer. Wish they weren't so expensive, but at least I got them on sale.

Wonderful pants

Sizing of Columbia pants is confusing. I have some 30x30 Columbia pants that are too big and some that are just right. I measured these and they are in fact 30" in the waist so I exchanged for 32 waist size and they are a perfect fit. Normally Columbia 32" is too big but these, even with the extra stretch in the waist, the 30" was too small. But that being said I love these lightweight pants for summer wear. Very comfortable. I wear them everyday. 5 stars except for the non uniform sizing of Columbia pants in general.
