These shorts are fantastically thin and breathable. I wear them in the summer when I sweat all day. They run about 1" small in the waist (or maybe they just don't stretch like denim). They are decently durable but they eventually start ripping, after 4-6 months of constant wear (I am not nice to my clothes). The back pockets fail, probably because I bike. The only downside is they pick up a distinctive odor, but I've taken to rinsing them in the shower with me several times a week and that's not a problem anymore.

Shorts run a little small. I've worn 36 jeans with plenty of room for almost 15 years. These shorts in a 36, I barely fit them. I really wanted to like these shorts however I don't see myself wearing them or even bothering with a return. All of the pockets are mesh (think swim trunks) and I'm sure it aids in the fast dry capabilities, however it's not the most 'secure' feeling. The zippered pockets were the selling point but i was unaware I would be trusting my valuables to mesh on the opposing side. They would be good boat shorts or even beach shorts where you're most likely to get wet and not have pockets full of valuable items. Not my idea of great amusement park shorts. 12 inch inseam also seems a little short. I am over 6 ft and they just barely come to the ... MoreShorts run a little small. If you can visit a store that sells them I suggest trying them on first. The cost of shipping is very prohibitive here. More so considering almost all the reviews mentioned they are sized perfect. I find that is not the case. Definitely smaller than expected. Now I have to pay to return something that doesn't fit.

Well made with a flattering fit. (OK, so I'm a little bit vain.) I ordered a very hard to find size 33 even though I can often get away with a 32. I'm glad I did because the shorts fit more like a 32.But the elasticity of the waistband compensates. Likely to hold up well. I love that the cargo pockets are flat but still functional for carrying keys, cellphone and whatnot. Lightweight and breathable and sure to be fast-trying. My go to standard short. Built for speed and comfort in hot and humid conditions. I wear these nearly year round in SW FL. I've owned Silver Ridge Cargo shorts at least 7 years. Most all of those original shorts are still in service. Over the years they have gotten better. The internal waistband is now more durable and softer. Most importantly the top left and right hand pockets have increased in size to fit some cellular phones. This is a major improvement. For those who have never worn these they drape nicely and are very lightweight. They dry quickly and move well with you as you move. In addition to the functional aspects they look sharp.
I bought several pairs three years and they were great. I recently bought new two pairs. The new version is made of recycled polyester which rubs against my skin. Also, the side zip down pocket is useless. I can't fit anything larger than a credit card.
Happy Holidays everyone! I'm a long time Columbia fan. I have hiking shorts, convertible pants, and shirts just to name a few. Columbia products fit perfect and their sizes are true to fit. I wear them for most occasions, hiking, daytime, and night and weekend gatherings with friends, dinners etc. I even wore them with a sport coat at a nice dinner when I forgot to pack my dress slacks. Equally if not better, Columbia's Customer Care Team are outstanding. They are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The Convertible pants and shorts are perfect. Thank you Columbia!
I really love these shorts. I have worn them a lot since gettin them a few weeks ago. I've worn them for everything from doing gardening work around my house, to hanging out, to bike rides with my kids. They are lightweight, comfy, and stay clean regardless of what I'm doing. However I have one major issue with them. The thread used for the seams on the pockets is incredibly thin. As such I have already had my back right pocket develop a hole in it where it has disconnected from the pants themselves. This is incredibly disappointing as now I'll need to restitch it myself. It is the pocket I keep my wallet in. I'm very surprised at this as these shorts definitely feel like something that should have more rugged stitching to hold up to the amount of use they can handle.
Want to maintain your modesty while feeling like you're not wearing pants at all? Colombia Silver Ridge Cargos (100% nylon ripstop material) feel, at worst, like fine Thai silk, and at best, like a cool breeze shimmering around your nether regions. Whether you're hiking, traveling, shopping, on dates, lounging at the beach, or just taking an afternoon nap, these are the best pants I've ever stepped into. If Colombia had provided the cast of Star Trek (TNG) with outfits made of this magical stuff, we'd never have heard of the 'Picard Maneuver.'Two deep cargo pockets on each side lay flat, so you don't need to google 'are cargos considered dad pants,' but expand when needed for camera lenses, gadgets, or small tools, along with regular side pockets that your keys ... MoreWant to maintain your modesty while feeling like you're not wearing pants at all? Everything is kept in place with an amazing belt quick-lock system that actually keeps your pants up while letting you slip through airport security with ease. If it's true that love is the reason we're here, and we should shun material things, I've got to admit I fail—because I love these shorts. They never feel tight and are very forgiving if you happen to be a little rotund. My very smart-looking and functional anti-cargo-cargos. Get them!
I purchased 2 pairs of these shorts in preparation for a week in the summer Florida sun at Disney, and I couldn't be happier with their performance. The are super lightweight, not heavy like "normal" cargo shorts from Levi or other department store brands. This came in hugely helpful because I didn't get fatigued just wearing them. The interior mesh lining feels like what you would find in a swimsuit, but it doesn't chafe the way you would expect a swimsuit to.I like the strong Velcro closures on the right leg and back pockets, and the zipper pocket on the left leg helped store items like sunglasses on the more violent rides. They are extremely water resistant. Splash Mountain lived up to its name, and I got wet, but, again, the material shed the water without soaking it up and causing exponential weight for me to walk around in.My only dislike is the belt. It's a nylon belt with a basic clip, but it doesn't stay tight. I find myself having to re-tighten it throughout the day.Beyond that, these are very nice shorts, well made, and I would recommend them.
I love the fabric, it's like wearing silk yet strong. I'm 6'2" and the 12" inseam is perfect length for me. They do run a full size smaller compared to other cotton or cotton blend brands. I'm 64 , and no pole vaulter from France but, they seem just a little snug in the privates when I sit down. These shorts are perfect for golf.
