The coat is great. It is my second Columbia coat of this style. My other one is several years old and still in good shape but was a bit tight in the hips (size M, I’m about 5’3” and weigh about 140). I typically wear a size 8-10 pants comfortably! So I thought I’d get a L so bulky sweaters would fit more comfortably! Unfortunately the L fits almost exactly the same way across the hips just longer sleeves and bigger on top. Neither of which I needed. Oh well. I like it and I like the color!

I would recommend this coat for someone with mild winters. Won't be great much below 40 degrees. That said, it would be perfect for that need. My needs were different though. I miss the thumb holes and the fleece on the neck area to avoid chaffing your face. It is also VERY small. I am a person with a tiny upper body and thicker legs and bottom. It's way too tight in my thinnest part of my waist, which is extremely rare for me. Yet, it fits my booty. I just think the style is best for a very slim person with no curves.

I had a similar style coat from Columbia that was about 6 years old and needed replaced; this is a good comparison. My previous was lighter weight (no puff) with the silver lining, which I've always liked and was an XL. I sized up on this coat and found it to fit well - I have very broad shoulders and the shoulders/body fit well, with the arms the slightest bit big but will allow for layering. I appreciate that the edge of the hood has an elastic edge, which keeps it on your head as my previous coat was lacking this and made the hood pointless. It's currently about 45 degrees in Ohio, with a good wind, and I walked the dog wearing the new coat. I was plenty warm with just a long sleeve tee underneath. Warm meaning not hot, but not uncomfortably cool either. The main ... MoreI had a similar style coat from Columbia that was about 6 years old and needed replaced; this is a good comparison. The pockets are a bit small (my phone might fall out if not zipped) and I think the pocket zippers are a little flimsy. When walking, the lining did make the coat ride up slightly so I was consciously smoothing it down, but it was not riding up enough to require you to do so. Overall, a good lightweight coat for early winter/late spring, but if you're looking for something to use below 20 degrees or so, I'd say keep looking.

I am 5 ft tall and 101 pounds. So, I really appreciate that Colombia has sizes for Petites because I always struggle to find clothes that fit me. The jacket is very comfortable and light. The color is exactly as advertised (in this case, navy blue). In terms of warmth it is quite good down to -5C but any colder and I would have doubts. However, keep in mind that because the jacket is snug if you want to put on a vest underneath you need to go up one size. The only thing keeping this from being a perfect jacket is that the hood does not have a drawstring so sometimes it blows off in the wind.
I love this jacket so much that I’ve bought it again after outgrowing it (twice!). It’s a perfect lightweight jacket but is still warm enough for 30 degree temps and you’re not ready to bust out the heavy parka. I would definitely say you should size up at least one size, maybe two, especially if you want to wear a thicker sweater underneath and have a larger bust. I wore a small last year but sized up to the large this year so that I could comfortably zip it with a sweater underneath. I did also try the medium, and it was just snug enough across the bust that I wouldn’t have been able to wear something thick comfortably. The fitted shape of the coat allows it to still look trim instead of baggy even when sizing up. I currrbtly own a packable lightweight down 3/4 length jacket that I absolutely love, however, I don't love the feathers coming 9ut and going everywhere, so my search began. Sooooooo many choices, however, as Columbia products are known for protecting you in the elements, that is where I started and ended my search. The Powder light is a littke heavier than I am used to however, I have been wearing it with no prblem. The absolute only complaint I have is the sizing seems to be way off. I currently wear a womans extra large with plenty of room to layer if I want. However, after reading other customer reviews, I went with the 2xl. So glad I did and 8t is still snug on me. Just to be aware. Doesn't take away from this being an awesome jacket priced right! Thank You ... MoreI currrbtly own a packable lightweight down 3/4 length jacket that I absolutely love, however, I don't love the feathers coming 9ut and going everywhere, so my search began. Believe what the others have said—this coat is cut much smaller/narrower than it should be. I wear a medium in everything— including my Columbia jacket. I saw the other reviews but thought “maybe it’s just a few weird experiences” since not every review was consistent about the sizing issues so I ordered a medium and hoped for the best. Turns out the best was being able repackage the coat in the same packaging it came in! I tried the coat on and it was so small I couldn’t even get the zipper to touch, much less try to zip it. I understand that there could be some variation in styles from the same brand but this was ridiculous! The sleeves were the perfect length so I knew a large would too long in the arms so I am out $6 for the cost of returning the coat but have ... MoreBelieve what the others have said—this coat is cut much smaller/narrower than it should be. Learn from my mistake.
This has been puffermania to find the right mid-length puffer coat. The Peak Lite runs one size too small and has a nice waist cut but is not warm enough. I could barely feel any warmth with the Omni Heat lining. The Peak mid weight, on the other hand, is one size too large and has the shinier material. There is also mid-weight mid-length puffer jacket without a hood which seems to be sized correctly. I wish they would make a down feather lite version with accentuated waist. I may keep this one for the 50-60 degree weather. Definitely size up for the Peak Lite puffer mid jacket unless you are leaning more toward petite build.
I agree about sizing up, as others have recommended, though for me going up by just one size was enough. For context, I’m 5’3, 108lbs, and a DD. Going up to a small gives me enough room for a sweater underneath, since I always need a sweater at work. Interestingly, a XS in the Slope Edge was far too big. I just wish it came in a petite! I was looking for a coat that went to my thighs for days when a shorter jacket isn’t enough, but lightweight, since I have an excellent longer winter coat for days in the 20s and below, with a hood, since in a city you never know when the weather is going to change while you’re out and about, and that had some style to it that was at least somewhat flattering on. The Powder Lite checked all those boxes and I’m very happy with the ... MoreI agree about sizing up, as others have recommended, though for me going up by just one size was enough. The Powder Lite checked all those boxes and I’m very happy with the grey color. A few additional notes: it’s warm enough for days when the windchill is in the low 30s or maybe upper 20s, but if you’re looking for a truly warm coat, this isn’t it. I also wish that Columbia provided more information on specifications on the website and indicated whether there was anything sustainable about the coat (recycled polyester, anyone?). But overall I’m happy with my purchase and with Columbia’s customer service!
After ordering two other products from you, I finally landed on a jacket that fits the bill. The coat runs very small so I had to go back and forth to get the right size. I wore the coat outside for the first time today (about 20 degrees this a.m.) and it was plenty warm with just a cotton sweater underneath. When it gets colder, there is ample room to wear a packable jacket or wool sweater underneath. I like the omni heat effect and it was the deciding factor among this and other jackets in its class. Two things, though: There really should be a way to tighten the hood; the wind blows right through. And, the jacket is long enough to deserve some kind of waist adjustment. I have accessories that solve those problems, but I'm glad I did not pay the full price.
