I have been a long time Columbia shoe buyer - winter boots, hiking, trail runners, and casual sneakers. I was ready for a new pair of waterproof hiking boots and purchased these in an 8W. For a wide they are really not roomy as others have commented, but I only have a slightly wide foot so they are doable (but not great). My biggest complaint is, I don't know what environment these were tested in for waterproofing, but it was not one that contained water. Walk for 2 minutes through dewy grass and your feet will be soaked. I even waterproofed them in an attempt to make these work - I think they lasted about 5 minutes. Not the quality I would expect from Columbia, now I just suffer on shorter walks with soaking wet shoes (think: you hear the water squishing each step) ... MoreI have been a long time Columbia shoe buyer - winter boots, hiking, trail runners, and casual sneakers. These are the first hiking boots I have bought. I was nervous to get a pair since I normally hike in tennis shoes, but decided I need more grip and ankle support to do tougher trails. These are the perfect hiking shoes for me because they are comfortable like tennis shoes. I hiked Seneca Rocks in WV (up 1,000 feet) and they were great. It rained the last 15 minutes and I stayed completely dry. I ordered .5 size up and they fit well.

Bought these boots on 12/13/22. They were comfortable but not after the seams came apart (were they not sealed properly?). Water came in shoe which I thought was from the top (some of it was); mostly seams came unglued! I superglued them back together, but my feet are still getting wet. They get wet from the dew on the grass. Also after the seams on each side of the front of the foot came unglued, the toe box became more uncomfortable. Do not buy!

I am so disappointed - I thought I found the perfect shoe: lightweight, waterproof, wide-width. Unfortunately 1. These shoes are not waterproof - my foot/sock got soaked on a shallow creek crossing which resulted in a terrible blister. 2. These shoes are not durable - the thread from the bottom is worn off and falling off after a first rugged hike (after 6mo of occasional short hikes on flat trail)
These hikers are very comfortable and even warm in the winter with a good sock! However, they are not waterproof as described!! I just returned from a walk during our Spring thaw that has begun and was so disappointed to return with wet toes!! If you’re looking for waterproof hikers these are not the ones to buy!!
Not at all waterproof, despite being advertised as so in product name. Unfortunately didn't realise this until I wore them on damp grass - not even in the rain. Very frustrating as having worn them I am not able to return them. Have since tested numerous times and truly not as advertised. Such a shame as I have previously trusted the brand for walking boots and now I have no confidence or trust to make another purchase.
With the rainy season coming up in the pnw, I decided to start looking for a new waterproof walking shoe. As a dog walker and amateur hiker, quality is key. I like the high tops, I searched for that feature specifically to help keep water out, and it does! They are truly waterproof, as tested through fields with dewy grass and steady rain. High quality and durable materials, excellent grip on the bottom as well. The only thing that's poorly designed is the foot bed. Shoe making 101 tells you that a good shoe is supposed to propel you forward, but this foot bed is so flat that it actually makes you sit back on your heels, which is terrible for your feet, your knees, your hips, and your back. Thank goodness this shoe has removable insoles and I was able to put in my own. The insoles help a little bit, but the design of the foot bed is so poor that I'm still having trouble walking with a good tread. I'll hang onto them because they're so rugged, but the search still continues for the perfect waterproof walking shoe. One last thing: I normally wear a size 7, but based on the sizing chart and the actual measurement of my foot, I ordered a 7.5. glad that I did.
They are light but high enough to protect the ankle. I initially ordered a size up based on other reviews and it was definitely too big. My usual size worked for me best. They seemed fine and comfortable enough.I didn’t end up keeping them just because I found Salomon boots on sale that I also really liked and I know I can trust Salomon quality and I don’t know enough about Columbia boots. But nothing wrong about the boots themselves, they were close contender
It’s a bit smaller and narrower then my other Columbia wide hiking boots. It’s a little tight with my orthotics too. There is no arch support, the footbed is very flat, so absolutely need my orthotics for this model. I haven’t tried the waterproofing part yet. I’m keeping them though because with my orthotics and thin alpaca socks they are comfortable.
These are my new favorite shoes!! I love that my feet stay warm and dry whether it’s rain or snow! I also love the ankle support it gives. It’s not as bulky as a hiking boot but more support than your average sneaker. This is especially helpful for me since I broke my ankle a few years back so I prefer support for rocky trails! On top of all that, these shoes are extremely comfortable! Runs true to size as well!
