As soon as you take it out of the box, you think; "Oh, that's really nice" First impressions count, but these can fade based on day to day use. I'm glad to say that it has, so far, retained it's charm - replacing my electric ceramic burr grinder for my daily brew. The grinder comes with 3 main ° A heavy steel with wood veneer grinding cylinder. ° The grinding handle with a large wooden bulb. ° A glass grounds collection cup that screws into the grinding cylinder. You get some other bits in the pack too; a dark glass bean storage jar, a branded rubber band thing?, a certificate, instruction manual and some nice stickers. All of the pieces feel high quality - and you'd be right in thinking that for the price, they bloody well ought to. All of the pieces feel high quality - and you'd be right in thinking that for the price, they bloody well ought to. You don't feel hard done by, however, as the quality is excellent. You paid a lot for something really nice and you have something really nice. Three things 1. The satisfying click as the grinding handle pops into place with a magnetic grip 2. The ease of grinding, every turn feels good and you get tactile feedback of the beans passing through the burrs. 3. The clever grind size dial that you push in slightly then click a desired number of turns to get the grind size you want. No unscrewing anything or dismantling anything. Two (minor) things could be better 1. The lid on the extra bean storage jar feels cheap and a bit flimsy 2. The see through plate that prevents beans popping out while grinding can be pushed off vertical slightly, but it self aligns again, it just feels a bit weird considering the quality of everything else. Overall, I'm really happy with this grinder.

Yes, this grinder is pricey. I wanted one as I realized my cheaper hand grinder was grinding unevenly when I tried to figure out the size of the grind. My pour over coffee tastes so much better now with the Comandante C40 MK4. The silicon grip is very helpful as I have smaller hands. It takes me longer to grind the same amount of coffee, which I don't mind, it's a reflection of how well the Comandante C40 MK4 performs. I also like that many coffee recipes give the recommended Comandante C40 grind setting. The Comandante C40 MK4 is an amazing grinder and well worth the investment.

The mornings are a time to chill before the rush of the commute, the people and work encases you. Grinding fresh beans in order to get the perfect filtered coffee is a ritual that matches meditation and eases you into the day.The Comandante’s design is simplistic beauty, tactile and easy to use. It has low grinding noise levels and doesn’t require much elbow power. The grind settings are easily adjusted, helping the novice coffee maker create bitter sweet blends.Rounton turned my order around quickly and it was delivered in 2 days with a batch of complimentary aromatic beans.

Build quality feels rock-solid, and it has a good weight in the hand. The glass jar balances the weight of the grinder slightly better, but I quite like the polymer one as well and have found myself using it more.I have ground some light roasts as fine as 4 clicks and have not struggled to hold on. I haven't needed the little rubber band either. I primarily use it for single origin espresso and reserve my electric grinder for blends. I've had no trouble dialling in (with red clix) and haven't found it particularly difficult to grind either. It's a perfect balance between speed and throughput. It normally takes a minute to a minute and a half to grind for espresso (medium-light roast).I regularly enjoy Aeropress, Moka pot, Chemex, and larger batch brews as well. ... MoreBuild quality feels rock-solid, and it has a good weight in the hand. It's easy to swap between these and of course, these coarser grind settings are much faster than espresso. I was able to get through a 250g bag of coffee at 24 clicks in about 5 minutes, including the weighing and dosing (I did 6 rounds of 40g each and then one of 10g).I bought the "Grün" one, and on that note, It is challenging to tell its colour if you're not looking at it in person. If you like the green as displayed above, you'll likely enjoy the actual colour, which is slightly lighter but looks like the picture in shade as it has a matte finish. It's been well-worth the expense.
I decided to make the jump and purchase one of these grinders in Racing Green. Product packaging and unboxing experience was excellent, and the build quality is phenomenal. After a quick glance at the quick start guide for setting recommendations, I got straight to making coffee. I was a bit skeptical going into this purchase that I'd be able to notice a difference in my brews compared to my prior grinder, but I couldn't have been more wrong. Resulting cups from this grinder have been nothing short of exceptional. Sweet and well balanced, and best of all, consistent. While its not ideal to have to remove the catch cup to adjust grind sizes, over time its become a non-issue as I don't find myself changing it all that often. While its not ideal to have to remove the catch cup to adjust grind sizes, over time its become a non-issue as I don't find myself changing it all that often. An upside to its grind size adjustment is the fact that most videos and roasters can make "click" recommendations for specific methods or roasts. In my testing I find it to be slower than most other hand grinders, but I feel like the additional 20-30 seconds of grinding has been worth it in the cup.
I bought this Comandante C40 MK4 Grinder in Burgundy colour almost over a year. The build quality is great. Just a little bit big and heavy. The grind is so consistent not like my old hario skerton. I have using on my pour over at my v60 or sometime use it on my espresso receipt at my espresso machine . Honestly the C40 could not give a good flow rate in espresso. one click bigger is make the flow rate too fast or one click smaller is will make the flow rate is to slow. If someone looking for espresso grinder, you may need to choose another stepless grinder or buy their separate burr otherwise the espresso will come out to fast or too slow in 25 to 30 second range . I have using Tetsu Kasuya receipt on my pour over. it gives the cup a sweet, clarity and fruity coffee . If anyone look for pour over grinder, i highly recommend using this one but not for espresso. On Cafune, their customer service is top notch. shipment packing is excellent and secure on every items in the package. price is very lower than other website. can't complain
I recently invested in the Comandante C40 MK4 grinder, and it's a game-changer. The sleek black design is not just eye-catching; it's a testament to top-notch craftsmanship. The grind consistency is unmatched, whether I'm brewing espresso or French press. While manual, the process is intuitive, and the versatility in grind settings caters to various brewing methods. The C40 is a portable powerhouse, perfect for both home and travel. If you're serious about your coffee and value precision, this grinder is worth every penny.
The Comandante might be the best coffee grinder on the market. Its engineering is superb, the build quality excellent and the resulting coffee delicious. The only contender for the C40 might be the C60 if you are looking for an even more substantial investment, but for me personally the C40 is at the sweet spot of price and quality. Finally, it is obvious that the product is a work of passion - it was not designed to be "a" coffee grinder, but I'm convinced the creators asked themselves how to make the optimal grinder which shows in all details. Very good product which enhances my coffee experience significantly.
I have this grinder along with the Kinu m47 simplicity, the 1zpresso jmax (my newest grinder), the porlex mini and hario slim (my first two hand grinders). As for electric, I have a fellow ode, baratza sette 270, the baratza encore, and a mazzer mini. I've also used the Weber workshops eg-1 and key grinders quite extensively, since my job involves coffee and tea. This is still the grinder I end up using for most things aside from my morning espresso! Especially at work or on the go. It's just got that magic to it. Yes it's high quality, and will take your coffee game to the next level, but it's also a standard in the coffee world, which is great when you want to share recipes for brewing methods. Yes it's high quality, and will take your coffee game to the next level, but it's also a standard in the coffee world, which is great when you want to share recipes for brewing methods. The engineering tolerance is very tight, and I've ground Turkish style coffee and Tea powder before with ease. Check out my photo and video of the burrs at 1 click. The only thing I would change is to make the clicks easier to identify, like on the Jmax, but this still makes a better cup and you get used to finding your setting quickly. It's also way better to travel with (and easier to take apart) compared to the Kinu m47, and it actually feels higher quality (because the simplicity has a plastic cup and handle). If you're a coffee (-making) fanatic like me, I highly suggest adding this to your collection, and if you are new to coffee and want the best grind for your money, this is probably it. (Unless you solely want it for espresso, then The Kinu is a little faster, and the best option to completely replace an electric espresso grinder.) Save the money by not buying a motor, haha. I have not tried the red clix mod yet, but I'm excited to get one. It might give it a closer edge on the Kinu. If you're thinking about it, just buy one and start brewing, you won't be disappointed!! Oh, and I've been using it almost every day for 5 months!
The Comandante isn’t really a grinder as many grinders are but rather a surgical slicer that cuts with precision for the rich clean cup your precious little bean is capable of,period! If you’re not getting that result the burrs you’re using aren’t up to it. Think of them as fine knives. I’ve worn out other popular grinders that made all different sizes of pieces and dust from the time they were new. Start sharp and stay sharp are my thoughts. This is a quality, fun machine, without toxic materials like aluminum in it. If you try one you will appreciate it. Thanks for thinking this through and making it available for us who understand what it is
