Put up a wall with natural stone tiles which were too expensive to drill. The wall looked bare and needed something contracting to make it look more interesting. I bought a copper clock whose colour was perfect for the wall but there was no way I was going to dill the wall. Furthermore, I needed a way to hang it so I can remove it for battery replacement. Enter the 3M strips. My wife assured me it will not work and many friends and family took her side. I said to my self that if the strips did not hold, the clock will be ruined. Took the chance anyway and I am pleased to say that there was no movement whatsoever and the clock is still there. The product surpassed my expectations especially since the wall is not flat. I recommend these strips for used everywhere ... MorePut up a wall with natural stone tiles which were too expensive to drill. I bought Command strips as I have arthritis so it seemed a good choice as they are easy to use. However, there are obviously only very few surfaces that these Command strips will adhere too. I have used them on wood panelling and smooth wallpaper surfaces so far. Unfortunately I have had four of my medium sized pictures fall off the surfaces and break three of the glass panes inside the pictures. It is not only inconvenient to replace them but very expensive , plus, clearing up shattered pieces of glass is dangerous and I have cut my fingers on all occasions. So unfortunately I cannot recommend this product plus it is expensive to buy if it causes breakages afterwards that have to be replaced!

I bought these at Walmart, not online, but I felt i needed to tell you how horrible it worked. I got the 12lb hanging strips. The picture wasn't even near 10 lbs and it fell off the wall several times and busted up. The Velcro strips are strong, I think it's the glue problem that the Velcro sticks to the product is too weak to hold anything over a lb. Maybe this batch was a dud, but I would never buy these things for pictures over 2 lbs. The picture disconnects from the Velcro because of the cheap glue.
While I have had success hanging small pictures with these Narrow strips, it has not been perfectly clear sailing. One 14"x14" framed photo fell off the wall and broke the glass the first time I mounted it. I re-mounted it and it has been OK since then. I think one has to be very thorough in prepping the surfaces, cleaning them with alcohol diligently, before attaching the strips. Also, applying pressure when freshly mounted may help. No doubt, however, that this is the premium way to hang pictures compared to hooks and wires. On the other hand, I am finding uses other than framed pictures. For instance, I used three narrow Command strips to mount an electrical 4-plug power strip on the wall without hardware. It worked. For instance, I used three narrow Command strips to mount an electrical 4-plug power strip on the wall without hardware. It worked. Also, I wanted to mount a mobile phone cradle on the dashboard of my car and that seems to be working, too, even though I had to shorten the strips a bit to match the back of the cradle.I have found that the adhesive of the strips does not bond with all materials, however. In one case where the Command strip just would not stick to an object I was trying to mount, I removed the adhesive strip and glued the hooky part of the Command strip to the resistant item and then carried on with the mounting. Seems fine. One question: The instructions always illustrate attaching the Command strips to the vertical rails of the frame. Why not the horizontals? That way, I believe the Command strips would be much less visible. Is there some physics reason why this would not work? Also, I have some long (wide) items that I want to mount and having just four strips on the vertical rails probably are not enough. Thoughts??
Reviewing for my sweepstakes entry, but these things have never failed me since I've figured out the correct way to apply them. You really do need to wait the extra time and let them set before actually hanging the item. Since I often use two sets (either one on each side or one at the top and one at the bottom) to obtain the correct spacing, I start by connecting both sides loosely, peel the sticky side and apply firmly to the back of the picture frame, then peel the other sticky side and press against the wall. Gently separate them so as not to pull any of the glued sides off then again press each one firmly for good measure then let them sit and "cure". I usually let them sit over night if possible. Since I've started waiting the extra time instead of just sticking them and hanging them I haven't had a picture fall off the wall yet. And they'll still remove easily. Just an all around great product.
Based on the commercials, I bought several packages of these when I moved into a new apartment. The walls had been painted 2 weeks prior to my using the product. I put 2 strips on a framed print (2'x3') and 2 strips on a wooden wall decoration (1'x1'). Each weigh less than 5lbs. Both were on the floor with damage within 24 hours. On one item, the strips just didn't stick to the wall at all. On the other item the strips separated leaving one on the wall and its mate on the object. My friend suggested to make sure the walls was super clean with no dust and to try again. I mounted them this morning with twice the amount of strips and have my fingers crossed that they hold this time. Otherwise, I will never buy another product like this again.
I needed to hang several pictures in a house that is over 100 years old. The walls have lath and plaster which can be impossible to nail into, not to mention nails can really damage the walls. I purchased these command strips to hang both small and large pictures and they worked great. You just need to add enough strips for the weight of the picture. They are really easy to use and the big plus is they do not damage the wall and if I need to take the picture down they do not leave any marks or mars on the wall. I have purchased several more sets to hang more pictures. Great product!!
Bought 2 packs of Command 3M picture hanging strips from Officeworks, followed the instructions including cleaning the walls with rubbing alcohol. Used 2 strips per picture frame as they weighed just under a kilo. One frame fell off the wall within a minute, reattached it and it fell off again onto the floor and broke the frame and the glass. Another fell off shortly after thankfully it didn’t break. Took the other 2 frames off the wall. All came off really easily as there was no stickiness to the strips. Useless product which has cost me a frame that I’ll have to replace if I can still get the same one. I’ve been using Command hooks for years and generally found them to stay where they were put but not these
These work well in most situations, holding reasonable loads - I always use enough strips to allow for double the weight being suspended. I've only given 4 stars because (and beware) they don't appear to perform so well in hot conditions. Last year I put up some paper blinds in my conservatory. The velcro pads were ok but the sticky sides lost their strength in the heat, causing the blinds to fall to the floor. I'm giving them another go this year. If they fail I'll have think of having proper (expensive) blinds fitted.
