Cooper s Cola

This used to be a great genuinely refreshing Australian sparkling ale but the old recipe has unfortunately changed, it is no longer tastes refreshing and just tastes of an average overly sweet crystal malt sugary beer more like cheap cola. Please Cooper's use your old non cola tasting recipe.

Distinctive and interesting

Im reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. This is interesting beer that is bottle conditioned and therefore contains a natural sediment that may put off some but is actually fine and can either be left in the bottle with careful pouring or mixed for a slightly cloudy beer. This is by no means your average tasteless Aussie lager - its a proper ale, amber in colour with a strong and distinctive bitter flavour that packs a punch. Not my preferred beer style so hence only three stars but for fans of stronger-hopped bitter and IPA this may well hit the spot and could be worth a try.

Great taste

I?m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. Used at Christmas and brother was impressed with the taste - a good smooth ale. Glad I read about the natural sediment & to swirl first, as it is slightly off putting if not

Happy husband
17 December 2021

I was offered a bottle of this by Ocado, in exchange for a review. Not being a beer or ale drinker myself (!), I gave it to my husband. He was delighted.....cracked it open and swigged it down! He told me it was tasty and refreshing and has asked me to add a couple to the next shop! I will think about it, because of the price and hence only 4 stars!

Pleasantly refreshing
3 January 2022

I am leaving this review as I was sent this beer for free by Ocado. Although it is an ale rather than a lager, it has a gentle fizz which makes it lighter and more refreshing than a standard real ale. I found it tasty, wasnt bothered by the sediment others have reported, but it is strong so wouldnt drink more than one or two at a time.

Refreshing
13 December 2021

I received this free to review. It was enjoyed by the beer drinker in the family, who found it easy to drink. Pouring it carefully meant there?s was no sediment. It?s just a bit pricey hence 3 stars - but the taste was good.

Refreshing and Light
18 December 2021

Im reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. Really refreshing, different from other ales so a nice alternative. Bubbles were soft and delicate - went down very nicely! Slightly more expensive than our regular brand, however will look to purchase as an alternative moving forwards.

Something a bit different
12 January 2022

I?m reviewing this product because I got a free sample from Ocado. My husband and I shared the bottle but we'd both quite happily have drunk the whole thing. It wasn't as fizzy as lager which suited me and it had a lovely taste.

Sparkling Alternative
18 December 2021

I was sent this buy Ocado to review, a nice sparkling alternative to my usual ale. Fans of an IPA will probably enjoy this, it has a nice strong taste, I mixed in the sediment for a cloudy drink - do not be put off by the sediment it is meant to be there and labelled as such. I should have paired it with a richer dish instead of a Thai curry but I was expecting it to be a bit lighter due to it being sparkling - now I know for next time!

Very pleasant
31 December 2021

I?m reviewing this product because it was a substitute for a free sample from Ocado. I prefer to leave the sediment in the bottle which is easy as you can see it even through the brown glass. The beer was bright and malty and I enjoyed it more than I expected. At 5.8% it's stronger than a session beer so you can't have too many.

Coopers Sparkling Ale 375ml

(72 reviews)

With its famous cloudy sediment and its distinctive balance of malt, hops and fruity characters, the old ‘Red Label’ is a tasty slice of Coopers history. Little has changed since Thomas Cooper produced his first batch of Coopers Sparkling Ale in 1862. It is still brewed naturally using the century old top fermentation method. At 5.8% for the discerning palate, it has a robust flavor of malt, hops and fruity character and a pronounced bitterness. In 1862, the brewery’s founder Thomas Cooper, a Yorkshire emigrate, brewed a restorative beverage for his ailing wife. This brew quickly became popular so he opened a small brewery close to Adelaide in South Australia. The beer’s reputation spread and Coopers ales are now known the world over. Today, Coopers produce a wide range of beers and have a leading DIY brew kit range, but it is the Sparkling Ale and Pale Ale that they are best known for. They remain a fiercely independent family brewer, currently in their 5th & 6th generations and are the only major Australian brewery still owned by Australians, with their quality roots maintained to this day. It is particularly noted for food matches, such as BBQ red meats, stews, curries and cheese.
