I recently got the CorningWare French Colors 10-pc Set, Cabernet to replace my older all white set. First off, I love the color! Depending on the lighting sometimes it looks brown, sometimes purple & sometimes burgundy. I also love the off-white inside. This color combo gives it a soft look. As usual the CorningWare itself is very durable & has many uses. I use the smaller oval dishes for cooking single chicken breasts & the casserole dishes I've used both in the oven & microwave for cooking macaroni, pulled pork, vegetables, etc., & the cups I've used for melting butter or to hold small servings of things like nuts. I remember my mom having some corningware casserole dishes growing up. I always remembered them being thick, heavy and hot. I've had some in the last 10 years (other brands) that felt light, cheap and that the slightest heat change would shatter it. This set from CorningWare reminds me EXACTLY of how my moms were! Granted the food I make with it isnt quite the same as hers but I'm off to a start! These cook the food evenly, keep it warm while on the table and with the plastic covers you can store them in the fridge for leftovers. Simple, yet perfect. And the color. I've seen the white set but this navy blue is just stunning! Such a beautiful color to have this set in!

I was a little surprised that the items were smaller than I expected, but the description of course is accurate. I simply had larger items before. The large one in the set is great for cooking several servings of a main dish or making a nice salad. The next size down is good for veggies. The cereal bowl item is actually fairly small but was fine for a thick bowl of soup for me. The two ramekins are so small that they probably would be good for creme brule or another small dessert or you could use them for dip for veggies or whatever. Wish there were plastic lids for the smaller dishes, not the ramekins. Hate to use plastic wrap each time we need to put something away in the fridge in the smaller dishes. We have a feeling that our college going kid will likely take the whole set with her along with the plastic lids and leave us just the two glass lids!Without hesitation and as always, highly recommend the CorningWare products and quality and the same goes for this set.
I have always been a fan of Corningware, their designs have always been cute and vintage. In fact I have my grandmother's set that she bought way back when, and I use them often. I was so excited when I saw the French color set available. My whole kitchen theme is navy and these go perfectly with everything. The color is a dark navy with a matte finish, very classy. I love that this set came with 2 small dishes, as well as 2 ramekins, on top of the 2 larger dishes. I also love that they came with both glass, and plastic lids, so that once you're done cooking you can take it to go, or save leftovers in the same dish. These are oven, and dishwasher proof, which is always a plus with cooking dishes. Love this set and would definitely recommend!
At 43 years old, this is my first set of classic Corningware and I am in love! I now understand why everyone loves these so much. The French colors are a step up from the classic white and bring a level of elegance to these dishes. I have the Cabernet color and it is a rich deep burgundy. I love that the glazing on the outside is not glossy but more of a satin or matte finish – it just makes them look that much classier! This set is so versatile, and I love that the larger casseroles come not only with glass lids for use while cooking, but plastic lids to store directly in the fridge for leftovers. I know my holiday tables are going to look so great with these indestructible and beautiful casseroles.

I can’t come close to recalling how often we use that set for baking (zitis, mac and cheese, lasagnas, etc.), serving, chilling, reheating, serving again, etc. And, despite how hard this set has been used and for how long, it looks as amazing today as it did when we first took the set from the box.CorningWare is simple to clean, doesn’t retain food scents, and is just ridiculously sturdy (as long as you treat it with care – i.e., don’t drop it.) We’ve never had a CorningWare piece chip or crack. But, we’re also fairly careful with it. Treat it with respect, and it will treat you well.The only thing left to say about this set, other than knowing that (at least from a construction perspective) it’ll stand the test of time and will likely be passed down to one of our kids, is how nice the color and finish is. This set is a matte navy blue. The surface is much less slick than our other set, which can be both a pro and a potential con. First, it’s easier to hold than our other set. The potential con… it’ll be interesting to see how well the finish holds up to scrubbing and washing. When you bake in CorningWare, there are instances where the food gets baked onto the surface… and you really have to scrub to get the food off (of course, overnight soaking goes a long way). The glaze on our other set seems like it protects the bakeware’s surface. Hopefully the matte finish can hold up to such scrubbing use/abuse. The definite pro… your hands/fingers aren’t likely to slide on the matte finish… especially when washing in soapy water. There have been times, admittedly, with our other set, that I came close to chipping/breaking the bakeware when washing it as the soapy water makes the glazed surface very slippery.So, with the above in mind, is the CorningWare French colors 10-pc oval set, in Navy, worth purchasing? One word – absolutely. CorningWare is one of those names that you associate with quality and versatility. When you get your first set (usually from friends/family as part of a major life event), assuming you treat it well, it’s one of those things that you know will last you a lifetime and then some. With the overall contemporary look and finish that this set offers, I have zero reservations offering it up as a five-star purchase… assuming the finish holds up as well as our 21-year old CorningWare set, which shows no signs of age… or slowing down.
I have a brand new set of Corningware’s French White Casserole dishes and lids. Firstly, they are very handsome. The outside is a dark mat blue. Nice, classic look. Tonight I used a smaller casserole dish and baked scalloped potatoes and ham. As usual, I used a cooking spray on the dish to help with sticking. They baked up beautifully. It doesn’t appear that there will be much scrubbing to get the dish sparkling clean, either. My dishes are not very deep, and most are oval, with a couple small round ones. I also have a variety of glass and rubber tops for the collection. I am really pleased with the appearance of this cookware, and I think I will like baking in them as much.
