I know I will be enjoying this for awhile to come!

It's loud but not too loud with clean/clear audio and the wireless allows you to walk around with them. I was able to walk all around my house and upstairs without them cutting out.For me what I like most is how comfortable they are where they are light and the materials they are made of just make them comfortable to wear for extended periods. Battery life is excellent, and though they don't have RGB I think that it's fair to sacrifice that to get more battery life though I wish the mic had a red indicator on it to show when the mic is muted. Overall, they're simple, and yet really nice and I'd recommend them!

The surrounding sensation is on par with the best headset I’ve owned that cost much more. To better gauge the capabilities of this system without the distractions of playing a game, I listened to several sample 7.1 and 5.1 videos on YouTube, and I was impressed with the sound separation. To be honest, I was more impressed with the 5.1 tests.Bluetooth connection is easy to establish. I set it up with my phone and made a few calls to test the effectiveness of the microphone and the listeners had no complaints. I’m not much of a talker while playing online games but the few exchanges I had with other players were clear and problem free according to them. Music quality came out great as well with clear highs and solid lows.This headset is well designed. The oversized soft earpads make wearing those headphones comfortable for long hours. The pressure around the ears is minimal and tolerable for long periods of time. Clever use of the volume dial to change the equalizer settings by pressing it. With a short press of the power button, you can easily switch between the wireless usb receiver and Bluetooth depending on your set up. I was also impressed with the good battery performance. I used the headset for 3 days straight for at least 6 hours a day playing videogames, listening to music and podcasts and making phone calls and I still had power left. This model does not have a noise cancelling feature but the oversized earpads do a decent job at keeping the outside noise away and it’s good enough for me.To conclude, I will say that the quality build and performance of the Corsair HS55 make it a great buy for all kinds of gamers, from beginners to experts. The price is right, the options are plentiful, and it delivers where it counts.

I was going to give these a two star rating but I said Corsair wouldn't put out a budget headset that sounds like I have two cardboard boxes on the sides of my head... would they?I am happy to report that they did not do that (after some tweaking). Either my medication has my reading comprehension way down or they need to give more information that is clearer than what is in the provided instructions. Could not replicate the same sound quality across the board with all of the computers. Odd but not a deal breaker yet.My cellphones on the other hand was a experience. My LG V30 makes these headphones sound very, very good when playing music of a few genres (rock, rap, classical and basically anything pre 2005). The daily driver is a Samsung S21 Ultra and let's just say don't bother trying to listen to music via Bluetooth with these. You will be disappointed.I used the same app on both phones to listen to music on the phones and well, the gaming part holds up but don't try and jam with these on.If you buy these for gaming you won't be disappointed unless you have had a really good pair of headphones before than I'd spend some extra money and upgrade to a higher model by corsair.

The ear cups rotate to lay flat, so they sit well on your desk, but unfortunately do not come with any case for travelling. The right earpiece contains the power button and Bluetooth button, while the left hand side has a mute button (although raising the microphone arm mutes, as well), a volume slide wheel, and the USB-C charging port. The volume slide wheel has a nice click to it, helping prevent runaway volume. Clicking the volume slider changes the equalizer presets.While the HS55 can connect with Bluetooth, it comes with a USB dongle to enable a 2.4 GHz wireless connection. This the preferred connectivity method, as it’s the one that can connect with the software. Speaking of the software, the Corsair iCue software works great. After installation, it quickly detected the headset, prompting an initialization of a firmware update. Using the software allows you to view battery level (including adding it to the windows taskbar), as well as adjust equalizer options, and microphone levels. It should be noted, however, that the software comes in at just over 3GB. If you’ve got other Corsair products, you may already have the software, but in my case, 3GB is a lot only for one device without many options.As for sound quality, I’ve no complaints. I do not think these are the greatest sounding headphones out there, but certainly not bad. The sound is 7.1 and you can set up surround audio from both the iCue software or built into windows. I listened to music, played some games, and joined a group of five others on Discord and had no problem discerning sounds and hearing others. Speaking of Discord, these are specifically Discord Certified. I’m not entirely sure what that certification process entails, but my friends had no problem hearing me. They aren’t active noise cancelling, but the ear cups do a great job of blocking a lot of environmental noise.The battery life on these is more than sufficient, as is their charge time. The range is pretty far too – I was able to walk to my next room over and still stay connected.I’ve got two main issues. Firstly is with sidetone. That’s a feature that allows you to hear your own voice in your headset when speaking. Even turned up all the way, I never felt like I actually heard it. The second issue is the Bluetooth. If you’re connecting and using it as a Bluetooth connection it works great. Where it falters is the dual connection – connected to one device with the USB dongle AND to a Bluetooth device. In this mode you cannot hear audio from both devices at once. Rather, it allows you to hear and take calls from the Bluetooth connection. It’s only one connection at a time for actual device audio. I did not hear any quality difference between the USB dongle audio and the Bluetooth audio.It should be worth noting that the above issues do not detract from my overall feelings of this headset. Those are minor issues that I think aren't to be expected at this price point. Ultimately, if you are looking for an entry level headset that’s better than average, you’ve got it right here. You could go cheaper, and I think the quality would suffer. You could go more expensive, and I think you’d get some more bells and whistles. What we have here is a good sweet spot. If you want a solid set of gaming headphones that sound good, look good, and perform well, these are what you’re looking for.

First, the headphones are packaged with a USB-A to USB-C cable. While I can appreciate the need to accommodate legacy computers, the computer (laptop) on which I was planning to use these headphones only has USB-C ports. That means I need an adapter as one did not ship with the unit. When I did plug the headphones into another computer, the computer (Windows 11) did recognize the headphones, but there was no way to use them as the settings did not show them as an audio device. I installed the iCUE software as well, and it did not see the headphones either. The short story there is that they must be used in wireless mode, even if physically plugged in to the computer. This is where it gets even more confusing to me. There was a USB-A wireless receiver included in the box. (Not USB-C, but USB-A.) As soon as I plugged in the receiver, the headphones (and microphone) showed up in my Windows settings (after a few moments given an automatic driver installation). At that point, I was then able to use the headphones and microphone, and the device also showed up in Corsair's iCUE software. There was a firmware update available, but in order to install it, I had to physically plug the headphones into the computer (which was weird considering the headphones did not work through the same cable).Another thing that was confusing was that it is possible to sync the headphones to your computer by both the wireless receiver (that ships with the headphones) and bluetooth as well. This then creates two separate audio devices in your computer settings, which created some additional confusion for me as one of the devices (via bluetooth) would not allow me to control the volume of the speakers through the dial on the unit. I did not have that same problem, however, when using the wireless connection through the receiver. If I was using a desktop computer, this would probably not be much of a big deal. When using it with a laptop, however, the utility of some of the headphone's features is diminished because, to fully use all the features of the headphones (the volume dial in particular), I need to plug in this 1.5" (approx) USB-A wireless receiver that then hangs out the side of the laptop. (If I wanted to use with a newer laptop that only has USB-C ports, the protrusion would be even longer given the need for a USB-C to USB-A adapter.The short story is that I am used to the simplicity associated with using iPods with my Apple devices (including my computers) where they connect easily and have all necessary functionality without having to plug any wireless receivers into my computer. I understand that Windows-based PCs function differently, but the setup and use simply is not as seamless as I am used to and would like. With that being said, though, this headset is significantly less expensive than those Apple devices (especially the over-the-ear AirPod Max), so some concessions are not only reasonable but necessary. For the money, this is a pretty solid headset that I will continue to use for work meetings and other related activities. While I realize these are marketed for gaming, they definitely fit the bill for my work needs. Given their comfort and quality of speakers, however, I can clearly see how these would work very well for gaming as well and will probably be giving that a try soon. Four stars seems a little low given the quality and value for the money, but I also would not feel comfortable giving a five star rating with the issues I noted. Maybe, realistically, 4.25 or 4.5 stars would be reasonable to me. If you are looking for a relatively reasonably-priced headset that is comfortable to wear with good sound and a good microphone, this unit is a pretty good option!

I personally did not like the sound much straight out of the box, but after using the EQ in the iCue software, I was able to tweak it to my liking and update the firmware. The microphone itself isn't the best, but no headset microphone really is. I would have liked to see the microphone be detachable as I've seen a few headsets that offer that, but in the end it's not that big of a deal.Overall though, I did like this headset and could easily see myself using it as a daily option. I think that for most people, it fits practically every need and comes in at a good price point. I would probably pair it with a dedicated microphone, but for those that can't, the included microphone will get the job done.
