Ready for modern standby Modern Standby is a upcoming feature for Windows 10 that vastly improves your PC's sleep and wake functionality. The technology allows your system to wake from sleep more than twice as fast, as well as maintain a network connection during sleep to continue downloading updates and receive emails and notifications - just like your phone. Best of all, it does this with less overall power consumption. 80 Plus Gold certified The RM Series delivers power at up to 90% efficiency, lowering energy consumption, noise, temperatures, and your power bill. 105°C-rated capacitors Using industrial-grade electrolytic capacitors, RM Series power supplies offer the unwavering power and long-term reliability you demand from a CORSAIR power supply. Zero RPM fan mode The RM Series' cooling fan doesn't spin until you need it, for near-silent operation at low and medium loads. Tuned for low noise operation A 135mm rifle bearing fan with a specially calculated fan curve ensures that fan noise is kept to a minimum, even at full load. When at low and medium loads, the fan stops spinning entirely until it's needed, resulting in virtually silent operation. Compact size A 160mm-long casing ensures an easy fit in almost all modern enthusiast PC cases, providing more space for cable management and airflow in your chassis. Multiple-GPU ready PCI-E connectors to power dual or triple (RM850 only) GPUs for your most ambitious PC gaming builds. Fully modular cables Use only the cables you need for quick and easy installation, simplifying routing and cable management. Store your unused cables in the included cable bag.

Modular cables are a godsend, especially for someone like me who dislikes clutter in my build. • High-quality capacitors – If you’ve ever had one explode/burst, you realize how important this is. • Low noise – simply cannot hear it above case fans, which are all very quiet as it is. • Ten-year warranty – are they insane? No, just confident. • Fast wake from sleep – I tested a few times, but, because it is not a good practice to sleep a system with an SSD, I don’t do this full-time. • Optionally, and not included, one could purchase Corsair premium individually sleeved cables which is a nice option to have. • If you need to add legacy components, you can easily buy an adaptor. • My build: Intel i5-9400F, MSI MAG Z390 TOMAHAWK (MS-7B18), 1 x SSD, 3 x HDD, NVIDIA ... MoreModular cables are a godsend, especially for someone like me who dislikes clutter in my build. • High-quality capacitors – If you’ve ever had one explode/burst, you realize how important this is. • Low noise – simply cannot hear it above case fans, which are all very quiet as it is. • Ten-year warranty – are they insane? This one does not fail to impress. Would purchase again and highly recommend.

The RM850 provides more than enough power for your standard rigs, with extra juice for SLI setups. It's fully modular, which allows for optimization of cable usage and provide more room for coolers, fins, lighting, or empty space to make your rig look its best. It seems to be shaped to better fit smaller and other modern-shaped rigs. It runs very quiet. The components are new from the previous model, providing support for very high efficiency under light loads. And finally, the 10-year warranty pretty much guarantees the purchase thru the next time or so that you upgrade. If you were on the fence since the old model, this new model is a large improvement.

I replaced my 8 year old (and now out of warranty) Corsair AX1200 with this guy. Worked like a charm, and is a perfect replacement now that I no longer run 2 or 3 way GPU setups. I think 850W is a sweet spot for high end rigs that are doing single CPU/GPU, and highly recommend this to anyone building a gaming PC with an OC'd CPU and a 250W+ GPU. My rig is a 5930k @ 4.5 GHz and an overclocked 2080 Ti.

RM 850 Series. I have used this for a few months now and so far this has been a solid power supply. This one is modular, so it makes cabling easier if you don't need all of the power ports, just use what you need. Comes with all the cables you need, some zip ties, screws to mount it. This has a pretty sleek design, the edges are a bit rounded and not sharp. Cables connect in the ports pretty easily, they fit well, but can be a little hard to get out sometimes, but not really an issue.. you do't want the cables falling out of their ports! Runs multiple drives, an SSD, 8 Core processor, with a single gaming graphics card etc.. I would purchase again, no doubt.
Definitely recommend this psu. Very nice looking and was definitely made with a long lifespan in mind. The fully modular aspect definitely makes a clean looking computer and so does the flat style cables that come with it. All this with a 10 year warranty makes for the best psu i have ever had the pleasure of owning.
So, I have upgraded everything onto a x570 mobo that requires/recommends an additional 4 pin power connector that I was going to use the 2nd 8x(4+4) cable for. So, I ordered this power supply as it clearly indicated both online and on the box itself that 2 8x(4+4) cables were supposed to be included. However, it shipped with only 1 of 2. I would really like to get all the cables I paid for so any help from the manufacturer would be appreciated.
PSUs are not usually the problem when it comes to building a PC, unless you go too small, but having a quality PSU and with the addition of the modular cabling, only my second with that feature, you cannot go wrong with Corsair for powering up you PC. I probably only need a 450w, and usually have purchased around 550-650w, but I have found that not taxing the PSU allows it to run a bit cooler. Buying good case fans helps a lot too.
Have yet to truly test this product; however, under standard strain, no noise. Plenty of connections; however, some of the ports are easily pulled on if put under even slight strain. Be careful when disconnecting cables. Bought this for my gaming rig, which under heavy load should only take 500ww. Went with a larger psu for potential upgrade in the future and know that running a higher output psu can be safer than matching the exact numbers required. All in all, good psu. Would recommend and buy again if needed.
This is a revamped and updated addition to Corsair's long standing line of "RM" series power supplies. Sporting a sleek and simple black design, an 80 Plus Gold rating, and a 10 year warranty. The most notable changes with is version are no Link support, more connectivity (12, up from 9), and a mix of Taiwanese and Japanese industrial-grade 105°C rated capacitors. It also includes 2 4+4 connections for higher end motherboards, that was nice to see. Lastly, it has support for Modern Standby mode in Windows 10. The cable lengths are good, easily accommodating the CM HAF 932 case I dropped this PSU in. Right now, it's being tested in a recently rebuilt/upgraded AMD Ryzen 5 2600 system running an XFX RX 590 Fatboy. So far, so good. We have not had a single issue with the system since swapping out with this PSU. I can't speak to longevity just yet, but if there are any changes, I will post a followup review. All in all this is a great addition to Corsair's RM line of power supplies!
Bought this power supply after reading other reviews for my new build. Modular connections made a breeze to install. This was on back-order but was worth the wait. A 10-year warranty made it a super buy.
