I purchased this PSU specifically for its count of PCIe / CPU power connectors. I needed a minimum of 7 PCIe / CPU connections (5x 8-pin, 2x CPU). This guy has 8, which leaves me some headroom if needed in the future.In terms of what this PSU does differently than others; depending on your case, having the power connectors on the side of the PSU makes for cleaner cable runs & more space. Corsair doesn't sell a standalone 12vhpwr cable in their new Type 5 form factor. I had to use one of the 12vhpwr adapters included with my GPUs, which felt bad, but isn't a huge deal.

I will preface this review by saying this PSU is very particular and will likely not work in every case. That being said, I built mine into a Lian Li Lancool 2 and it was an absolute breeze. Any case that has proper real cable clearance behind the PSU mount, this is an absolute game changer. I am running it with a 3070 and 3900x and so far it’s been whisper quiet and had no issues. It’s everything that’s great about the regular RmX series plus the new ATX standard and a much better position for the cables to come out of. 10/10 recommend with the right case, just do research or keep the receipt.

It worked beautifully for a brand new 7900x and a 6800xt. Except in a game under load or running the Heaven benchmark. It would scream and since my computer was in the living room, this was a no go for my wife. It was beyond 30 days so I contacted Corsair. Can you send a video. A video of coil noise. They hemmed and hawed putting me off. My wife contacted Microcenter and the person at Microcenter extended the warranty for 30 days. We took it back to Microcenter and were given a full refund. I will definitely make all my major purchases at Microcenter now. They stand behind anything they sell. Great job, Microcenter.

Although I had more than enough power from my existing power supply, with the purchase of a Asus Strix 4090 graphics card, I moved to the ATX 3.0 standard with the cable connections on the side to increase the area behind the supply for SSD's. This worked out great in my use case. I have a Corsair 7000D case and there was more than enough room for the side cabling and now I have room behind the supply for the SSD's rather than jam them on top of the power supply. Have not had any issue with the power supply and find that the size for the watt rating is perfect.
This is a great power supply for when you have 12th or 13th gen Intel chips and an Nvidia RTX card. I'm using a water cooling AIO along with lots of fans and argb lighting. This power supply comes with a cable that plugs directly into the GPU without having to use an adapter for the 12 pin plug. The plugs for the cables are on the top also, so you'll have to make sure your case has space above the power supply instead. With the cable plugs being at the top, it's so much easier to manage cabling. I highly recommend if you're needing to plug your power cables in at the top.
It works! Ordered this to accommodate my power hungry 4090 and it's doing it's job just fine! I'm not sure why it took so long for a manufacturer to change the side of the ports but it makes cable management 100x easier and if I need to add or remove anything, it's just as easy! Genius design!That being said, I knocked off a star because the cable quality is pretty meh and unfortunately right now since these are the new Type-5 connectors, there aren't a whole lot of options that you can order for something nicer (braided, etc).Would recommend though!
Great power supply concept. Corsair RM series is always reliable and consistent on power. I bought this for the full modular side interface and It's definitely a huge plus for wiring and cable management. Because it's a side interface you'll want to check for cable clearance on the backside where all the wiring is hidden. The connections are also Type 5 so the connections going into the PSU are smaller and different that what most people have used in the past. Aside from that it was worth the extra $10 to have the side interface to me. It's also whisper quiet.

I like it, and it worked fine with a Fractal Torrent midATX case. But you MUST double check the layout of your case to make sure this will work to feed cables off the side. This new format will likely catch on, but current cases are not really built with this in mind. Do you homework on case layout or you will be frustrated when you get home.Second, it includes the new power connector cable for the 4090 that lets you skip using the adapter that comes with the GPU. I'm happy with the product and it's working great.

Had to return this one because it was a non-standard layout. I was dumb and didn't notice on the packaging that the modular power ports are on the side of the unit. This did not work in my 2U Rosewill Rackmount case. If I oriented this in the case, the ports for the modular cables would be facing down to the bottom of the case. Obviously this leaves no room to plug in the cables. Most PSUs have power in on one side and power out directly on other side. This configuration would probably work OK in most regular ATX cases. So pay attention to the layout of this one. I attached an image that helps show this point.
