This core-warming jacket combines recycled polyester insulation and repurposed taffeta for reversible and convenient color-blocked protection. Wear it fall through spring-around town or far from it. The Calido brings the heat, but it also stows and deploys at a moment's notice: Pack it into its own chest pocket and whip it out when the temperature drops. Elastic binding on hood, hem, and cuffs keeps the warmth in, and two pockets on both sides of the jacket keep your hands toasty. Repurposed taffeta. Reversible jacket. Two secure zip hand pockets on main side. Two-way drop-in patch and hand pockets on reverse side. Elastic binding on hood, hem, and cuffs. Packs into chest pocket. Somewhere between a down jacket and a traditional Teca layer, the Calido performs well in a variety of temperatures, making it an all-around great adventure jacket.

A great jacket

Almost five star, but not quite

I love how versatile this jacket is, and have found myself wearing it most days from the 20s to the low 50s. Mostly I wear it hiking, and almost always it is more than warm enough. This winter we have had oddly cold weather in Georgia, but I’ve not needed anything heavier even when windchill was down to single digits. I usually wear it over a thin base layer and a polyester shirt. In temps from mid 20s to high 30s I unzip it after 5 miles or so. In higher temps I remove it. I really would love to give it a 5-star rating, but there are two problems that keep me from giving it that. Maybe three.First, and the biggest flaw, is the hood. It has no adjustment, yet it seems sized for a helmet (I haven’t tried wearing it over a helmet). In any event there would be no way to see the trail. So the only way I can wear it is to wear a ball cap. Not my favorite.Second, the zipper is not adequate quality. It hangs in any position and is difficult to pull. Once it gets started it is fine, and it doesn’t appear that it will fail, but it is just inconvenient to use. I want a zipper to respond immediately when I pull it, every time. This one doesn’t.Third, it would be nice if the jacket could pack into a pocket. This is a much smaller issue, but it would be nice.

I've been eyeing up this jacket for a while and when it went on sale I bought it. I like the flexibility of the reversible colors and thought the combination of a lightly insulated jacket with a hood would make for a good option. It might; but not for me. First off I think the jacket is more insulated than I thought, I was looking for something with around the same insulation properties of a P*t**ni* Nanopuff however this jacket feels a little thicker and not as packable as I had hoped. This feels more like a late fall, early winter, jacket to me; again, this isn't a criticism, just an observation. The reason why it only gets three stars however is the fit. I'm 6'2" and 175lbs, I'm lean/thin and wear a size medium in Patagonia Nanopuff and NorthFace Denali. Not for me. The jacket fits nicely in the arm length and shoulders however the torso is all wrong, its surprisingly small, it doesn't work. I'm thin so I can't imagine anyone with a waist larger than mine (33") being able to wear this comfortably. I tried a Large at REI and its too big; bottom line is this - if the sizing works for you then I'm happy for you but it didn't for me. I think the sizing is finicky.

Great jacket but runs small
19 August 2024

Gorgeous colors and very comfy to wear, even on a summer day. Love the fact that this jacket is reversible. However, I ordered the medium for myself since I own a medium-sized Fuego down jacket and I realized that the Teca runs smaller. I had to swap it out for a Large. Note that this jacket doesn't have a cinch around the waist, unlike the fuego. So you may not be able to tighten it unless you wear enough layers. Not a problem for me but some people prefer to have the cinch.

Needs reworking

Got the night drive color in L. Fits true to size. Well constructed from what I saw, sleeves correct length, no loose threads etc. Unfortunately, this is a fashion first jacket that merely looks like outdoor gear. They design has two major flaws. 1. No cinch on the hood. This hood is freaking massive. Its like they expect you to wear a bike helmet under it. Since its a smooth nylon material, theres no way to keep it from sliding halfway down your face when you move your head. A hooded jacket where you cant use the hood is pointless, especially for this price point. No cinch at the waist. Less of an issue imo. I dont use it very often, but it would greatly increase the utility of the jacket.Otherwise, a very cool color scheme, hope they continue to use it for their ... MoreGot the night drive color in L. Nice with two contras
27 February 2023

I find the jacket very chic, quite light and the pack size super. The colors (my version) are great. Also, the jacket is very well made. That it is a reversible jacket, makes it super on trips, if you want to look different at times or just sometimes sportier, sometimes better dressed.I have two contras to the jacket, which I noticed quickly:1) The material of the jacket is that of a tarp. That also means it's practically waterproof (I've used the jacket to fetch drinking water from the river for washing - I'm not kidding! It was just dripping from the seams). Rather a pro some would say - a puffy jacket that is waterproof. "Unfortunately" it is a reversible jacket and both sides have this tarp-like material. Try before you buy.

The jacket itself is awesome. I would give it a higher rating if I could. But the low rating is due to the fact that it is definitely not accurately sized. I’m a big dude. I purchased a xxl. And it fits like an xl maybe even a large. It also has a weird taper down to the waist so when it gets zipped up it is uncomfortably tight on the waist. But that’s ok because it looks great unzipped. The perks are the fact that it’s reversible. It’s extremely lightweight yet perfectly warm for spring or early fall days. Definitely try it on before you buy.

Very impressed

I knew very little about Cotopaxi. I bought the Teca Calido Hooded Jacket on a whim when it was on sale. My first order was lost in mail via DHL (received text it was delivered by USPS in mailbox but none found). I called customer service after 48 hours and they sent me a replacement this time via Fedex ground without a hitch.Upon opening and trying it on, I was very impressed with the color, build quality, and fit. I ordered an XS (5'6" 135 lb) and it fit like a glove. Particularly, I loved the length of sleeves. It is a tight fit so layering will be challenging but that's okay for me.I was double impressed with the reversible feature.I owned many brands of jackets like Arc'teryx, Rab, Patagonia, Outdoor Vitals, Moncler, Hugo Boss, Lamboghini, Northface, ... MoreI knew very little about Cotopaxi. Warm, not a performance piece but good style
29 December 2023

Love the style of the jacket, the fact that it's reversible is nice. The 'plain' side with zippered hand pockets feels more natural. The reverse has two outer pockets, but the 'normal' hand pockets are those awkward not deep enough style, not sure why that happens.Biggest beef is that the jacket felt very clammy! I put it on over a t-shirt in 40 degree temps and felt warm but then began to sweat on my arms, like I was wearing a cheap rain jacket. I guess this wouldn't be a problem in a windy & dry place but I'm in Ohio - just felt like I would get overheated easily. Strangely, it didn't really keep wind out either.

Weird fit, but great insulation
14 March 2024

I've had this jacket for 2 years, and I've wanted to love it the whole time. It's still in fantastic condition despite pretty heavy use and a lot of travel shoved inside or strapped onto packs, so if you're looking for durability this jacket is excellent. The bad: the fit of this jacket is super weird. I've got an athletic build with a small waist relative to my shoulders & lower body. Even as someone who's short, this jacket is way longer on me than other size S jackets, and the sleeves reach my knuckles. The seam at the bottom and cuffs results in this jacket folding weirdly in the arms and riding up in the back instead of just sitting a little long. The hood is colossal, which is great if you have a helmet on, but expect it to fold down past your eyes when you ... MoreI've had this jacket for 2 years, and I've wanted to love it the whole time. The hood is colossal, which is great if you have a helmet on, but expect it to fold down past your eyes when you don't. The hood also doesn't sit well and falls off easily if the jacket isn't fully zipped at the top, but this jacket doesn't have any vents and can get really sweaty fully zipped, even in the cold. The weather resistance is limited--it's pretty good as an outdoor layer against wind, but gets saturated with snow and rain pretty quickly. The good: the color is super cool and gets a lot of compliments, and you can rely on the jacket being distinct. The pockets are roomy and stay dry in wet weather. This jacket is super insulating, meaning it'll get sweaty if you're being active even in chilly weather, but will keep you toasty in the miserable cold. I used this jacket as my outer layer on an out-and-back 8-mile glacier hike and didn't reach for my down layer on the descent at all. Even with the weird fit, I grab this jacket every time I'm going out into the cold.
