I bought this tape in September 2021, and Craftright must have listened to the complaints as my tape's hook starts at zero, so no mythical offset.I needed the tape to measure my garden and it did its job well. Sometimes the recoil handle wants to do its own thing, but a thumb on it keeps it in check.Sturdy rubber case and perfect for the odd job of an amateur gardener.

what a pain to work with has some random amount of area between hook and where tape actually starts measuring from. I don't reccomend this pain of a tape to anyone

Please be aware that the tape does not start at 0 but this is actually an advantage for a number of applications. What it means is that you can position it very accurately at the start of the measurement.Honestly, if you are tradesman and do measurements over 8m long every day then by all means go ahead and buy yourself a professional tool but if you like me and need to measure something over 8m long once a year, this tape is hard to beat for the money.Construction quality is pretty good, when you buy it the winder handle does not align with a hole, to adjust, take the holding screws out pull the top, readjust the handle and then assemble it all back again.I agree that it make sense to make the hook offset to be a round number, something like 100mm but at the ... MorePlease be aware that the tape does not start at 0 but this is actually an advantage for a number of applications. The measurement increments start about 17mm from end of tape. So your expected to make the measurement then subtract 17mm. Thought mine was a manufacture mistake but obviously not. Into the bin before I do a mismeasurement and cost myself a lot of money. Shame on you Bunnings...your customers expect better and younsay you are experts.
For the price it seems to be well made fast retrieval rate And strong steel tape Worked well for measuring retaining wall project. Very happy with purchase.
Good for the first few times then useless as it won’t wrap back up. The unit is too tight and a small amount of dirt will have it stopping the tape from retracting. Waste of money.
This tape has an off set of 122mm from the hook to the dimensions! This is not even the length of the housing. Almost useless for any accurate measuring.
