I had two legs of the same orientation, so I had to dissasemble one leg and reorientate the hinges for it to work. Also the pre drilled screw holes in the worktop were not lined up to recieve the metal screw pieces correctly. I eventually assembled it but it was way to hard. Spend a few extra dollars and get something of better quality.

This took me four goes to assemble because the instructions aren't clear. The image in the instructions doesn't indicate which pair of legs belongs on which side. Add to this, the Bunnings image has the top vice reversed. Also, this vice does not fold flat like the old-school Black & Decker bench. And FYI the Bunnings product image is incorrectly assembled. The handles should be in the side the cross-braces form the "A".

It's cheaply built but they have cut costs in all the right places. Instructions are pretty vague but it's not hard to work out what goes where. It's light weight which makes it easy to carry around but perhaps a little too light weight for some jobs (e.g. sawing) as it can have a tendency to jump around. Will last you years if not abused - don't expect it to hold the weight of a person. At this price you can afford to own two!

This workbench is a great example of getting what you pay for. Putting it together was far harder than I expected, and I honestly found the product shot above more helpful than the instructions.If you need something sturdy or actually level, spend the extra dollars, but if you’re not fussy, it’ll do the job.
I was looking at the Ryobi bench and vice. Not very good reviews. I loved my old Black and Decker bench. As other say the instruction are as clear as mud. I mostly went of the Bunnings picture (apart from they have the top the wrong way around). Dont forget to put a washer either side of the larger bolts that hold the top on. Mine has a "Front A" sticker on it so I made that the front left.The indents in the metal work goes on the outside of the legs. The top doesn't quite line up flat and level so may clamp it gently then redo the timber screws up. The shorter bar on the collapsible a frame goes at the back. Other than that it's not to bad to set up. I will now have to test it out for light duties.
Despite what the other reviews might tell you, this item took about 1/2 hour to assemble (I'm a bit slow getting up off the floor sometimes!), all the pre-drilled holes are in the right places, and the instructions clearly tell you which screws/bolts go in which holes. It doesn't fall over or collapse and i'm generally pretty impressed with my $36 acquisition.I'm going to go and buy another one, i like it so much.PS. It worries me that people who can't put a simple workbench together are undertaking any kind of construction work, but there ya go! :-)
You get what you pay for. The jaws deflect upwards when trying to clamp a piece and is not secure. I bypass this by clamping the jaws with another clamp. The spreaders are very flimsy, so be sure not to press too hard or it will deform like mine. Still, having this workbench is better than working on the floor and at this price, I shan't complain.
The top is veneered MDF and I am not sure about how it will handle bumps and knocks. I ended up painting the edges, but another method would have been to apply some BLO to penetrate and harden the tops. If you were really concerned, you can come back and put some oil based poly on to create a better seal.This workbench is better than the ryobi because it doesn't overcomplicate the design. However, this has thinner metal and the folding control arms are really flimsy. The bench tends to collapse by itself too, I think this is the fault of the arms.During assembly, note the long bolts go at the top, with the nyloc nut and a washer for both bolt and nut.I found that standing on the handle side andpushing the table away from myself, the table started to collapse. ... I turned the table around 180 degrees so the short part of the folding arm was closer to me, and the table became more stable.Overall, the unit is cheap, construction is much poorer than the ryobi and I have a problem with the selection of MDF, but the design is better so I think this is the superior product
Not terrible quality but very, very short. Some say it’s a direct copy of Bilbo Baggins’ workbench before he left the shire. I modified it to be a comfortable working height and in doing so spent around the purchase price again. I’m not that tall but I would stand out in the Lollipop Guild. Wouldn’t buy one again unless I was cut off at the knees.
Easy to set up and fairly good functionally. Works appropriately for my use but requires securing of feet to floor to prevent sliding. Great purchase!
