I have owned many a pair of Crank Brother pedals through the years and never had a single complaint about how my foot made contact with and stuck to the pedal. These pedals on the other hand changed that. I read the reviews after my purchase and figured I would at least put them on my bike and check them out since they were on the way. Well, all of the negative reviews are true and after taking 1 look at the design from the side it is obvious why they are worthless. The middle bar sits way too high making it impossible for the pegs to contact your shoe. I put them on my bike for a test ride down the driveway and verified they do not work well after a quick roll off the pedal. The price is great but the pedals are not. I've had these on my Santa Cruz Bronson now for about 6 months. They are for sure a budget option coming in at around the lowest price point for flat pedals out there ($50). However they have held up pretty well for me. I don't pedal strike too often as there aren't a ton of rocks on the trails in southern California. However the few times I have struck one, they don't give that feeling of resonating through your entire skeleton as the alloy pedals often do.One of my favorite things about the CB design is that there are 2 pins near the center of the pedal. I find the grip to work well paired with a grippy fiveten shoe. I've sent some big stuff and had no issues with slipping on these where I have on other brands. I was going to upgrade to the stamp 7 for my other bike but actually ended up going with these again as the price is on point for what you get. Even the higher end CB pedals use the same internals so I didn't see the need to spend 3x the money.Also I'm a size 9.5 shoe and use the Large size platform. I've tried the small as well but the large is more stable feeling. The small is better for those tight trail sections tough for sure.

Nice flat pedals. They’re thin. Enough pins to be grippy. I don’t ride in muddy conditions so not sure how they behave. I have one up pedals on other bike and I prefer these actually. They seem just a touch more compact and still big enough. Pay attention when buying what size they are. There are small and large. Small is perfect for kids.
Great pedal. Very impressed with the adjustability for the pedal grip. Really liked the mounting using the allen-wrench. Very clever. Put this on my son's 26" mountain bike-perfect size for his foot. I was upgrading my HARO Steele Reserve 1.1 which had blue RaceFace Chesters currently on them and these were the only non-metal flat pedals with gold studs. I heard a lot of people liked the CrankBros, so decided to get them. After riding them I found that the center studs arent any higher than the center and felt as if there was no grip at all. They did feel lighter but also spun a lot easier which I didnt want because I like to hit ramps and the more force it takes the pedal to spin the better if your feet do end up coming off the pedals, which seemed to happen due to the design where the center studs didnt touch the bottoms of my shoes. I thought that maybe the studs were shorter than my Chesters but that wasnt the case. I would consider the Race Face unless you dont care about the studs and free spin on the pedals.

I bought these a few months ago to replace some Deftraps that were to large for all mountain trail riding… Well these have been absolutely terrible replacements. Yes they are the right size, reducing the pedal strikes dramatically, however they have terrible grip. I slipped off these pedals going up a technical section and nearly went over the bars (up a hill), then nearly fell down the side of the same hill in the process.The 10mm pins do not clear the spindle section of the pedal, and when you then only have 2-3 pins remaining on the heel side…. Slipping is inevitable! The $12 to get 12mm pins make these a poor cost option, avoid them!!! I purchased large Stamp 1 pedals and haven’t been disappointed. I ride Race Face Chester nylons on my other mtb and they feel a tad smaller in comparison with longer spikes. I do somewhat wish the Stamp spikes were a mm longer at times, but I don’t think it truly matters that much other than feel preference. My only true complaint is that the spindle is actually a bit proud of the pedal plane since the pedals are built so thin. I can sometimes feel the spindle across my mid foot when wearing my FiveTen FreeRider mtb shoes.Overall these pedals are top notch platforms.
