I love crafting, and the circuit Joy is terrific for beginners; it is great for making cards labels and personalizing just about anything you want. I had been using my Circut Joy for about one year before I upgraded to a Circut Maker and enjoyed how easy it was to learn how to make custom cards and to design personalized items. It did require some getting used to using Design Space as I had never used it before, only the craft room app that Cricut previously had; after watching some Youtube videos, it was not difficult to learn. Setting up the Circut Joy was easier than I thought it would be and only took me 10 minutes to get it up and to run! Setting up the Circut Joy was easier than I thought it would be and only took me 10 minutes to get it up and to run! It comes with samples of silver vinyl that you use to practice cutting without using a mat, and they give you six designs to choose from. They also give you a sample of blue cardstock to use as well. The machine is only about 8" wide and 4 1/2" tall, so it is no problem to find a place for you to set it up for use! You could even pack it away in a drawer when not in use, but I keep mine out on my desk. I've not had issues with ripping the paper or poor cutting except for one item I tried to cut out, which was a very intricate circular design at 4" with a lot of swirly bits. It did not cut out well, but I was not surprised, given its intricacy. I have also used the Joy pens in the machine, and they have worked well. I have done a couple of cuts where the machine draws a shape and then cuts it out which was neat. I have also used the card mat to address several envelopes and that has been a lot of fun. One nice thing about when you take out the blade to use a pen is that you can place the blade housing on the upper right side of the front of the machine and it will hold it up and out of the way while it writes or draws. My only big issue with the Joy is the bluetooth connectivity. If I turn on my computer and use the Joy soon afterwards, it is not a problem; if my computer is on for a few hours, or my computer goes into sleep mode, and then I turn it back on! Overall, I highly recommend to all beginners of Circut who love crafting!

I have the larger Cricut Maker 3 and the Cricut Joy. I don’t have a permanent place to have it, so I have to put everything away once I’m done and take it all back out again. So when I am doing a smaller project, I always go for the Cricut Joy. It’s so light and easy to move around. It works just as well as my Maker 3, it’s just for little projects. It’s so easy to use, it’s quiet, and get the job done quickly. Highly recommend for beginners or an experienced crafter.

I'm a heavy Cricut user, as I have an Etsy shop that sells mostly vinyl decals. I have had the Explore Air 2, as well as the original Maker. I purchased the Joy to use for smaller projects, and was interested in the versatility it offered, as well as the "smart vinyl" options. Overall, I was happy with the product, but found that it wasn't any less of a hassle to pull out than my larger maker, and the "smart" materials were very hit or miss in terms of 1, how effectively they cut through, and 2, even despite using all Cricut products, I consistently ran into issues with getting the decals to transfer onto transfer tape. However, I did find that any of the "card making" features on this were on point, and would definitely recommend for small projects and entry level ... MoreI'm a heavy Cricut user, as I have an Etsy shop that sells mostly vinyl decals. Maybe someday they'll be able to make a rechargeable version, and I'd definitely buy that!
I was a little skeptical about buying this machine at first after using my old cricket expression 1 and 2 along with the gypsy and I come to love the new cricket machines after using the design space . I even purchase a bigger machine as well the same day due to the fun I had with creating projects in design space! I love using vinyl and the pens as well to draw! This is an amazing buy you will enjoy it if you are a crafter! Shipping is also a plus as well! I love when things are shipped and sold by walmart!!! Make sure it’s shipped and sold by walmart!!
Great machine, so light weight. I have the bigger Maker 3 machine but this one is perfect for taking to class or away from home. I took this to my Mother In-Laws house to show her what the Cricut was all about and she's gone and brought herself one now too. So easy to use, the customer service was great too, at first my MIL thought she might be better off with the Joy or the Explore 3 but when they mentioned she could cut fabric with a Maker she got that one instead, at the sale they had at the time the Lilac Maker was a little cheaper than the Explore 3. The staff really looked after her. I'll be buying my Cricut things from Harvey Norman in the future, just for the customer service and they always seem to have something on sale with Cricut :D
I got this for my birthday a few weeks back. I have used it non-stop! I never owned a cricut before this one, so I have not much experience with these machines, so it does take some getting used to, but once you do it is amazing. I couldn't think of what to ask for for my birthday, but this was the way to go. I got this from my mom and the supplies with the extra $250 I got from the rest of my family. It does stink since I don't have a job yet that I can not buy any more stuff for it, but I am lucky it when to a massive sale right when it was time from me to buy all the stuff for it. But anyways I sidetracked a bit, I love it so much, the cards are super fun to make! And I love the drawing aspect of it! I ordered the joy pens 30 set and it should be coming in the mail soon, which I can't wait to try out all of the colors! I love how small it is too, I have not at all much space to store a cricut but this one is perfect, it sits right on my desk at all times and I can still have some space to work on other stuff, and I have a small desk! All and all this is perfect and I couldn't be more happy with it!
Since about the 2nd or 3rd use, I’ve experienced the Machine Interference Error more times than I’ve actually made anything! I’m so frustrated! And there’s nothing online to offer any real (other) troubleshooting tactics. I’ve made sure the Bluetooth was disconnected from everything and sat my device directly next to it. Closed all other apps.…And I bought just about every product for this thing! I’m infuriated actually. The idea is great, but the execution of the thing is poor. I think if it were programmed to move half a second slower, it might be able to execute the design commands better. I’ve watched it jump and drag the pen across the material often (like it got ahead of itself or forgot what it was doing…might just be that moment the Bluetooth ... MoreSince about the 2nd or 3rd use, I’ve experienced the Machine Interference Error more times than I’ve actually made anything! I’ve watched it jump and drag the pen across the material often (like it got ahead of itself or forgot what it was doing…might just be that moment the Bluetooth disconnected…); same with the blade. But more times it just seizes and doesn’t move. One time, the cut on a continual and duplicated script yielded one good font cut of the words, but the next cut was off track from outside to inside cuts…like how the heck can it do that after successfully completing one??The paper alignment is ALWAYS bad and think that may have contributed to the above scenario. But believe me, I’ve cut the vinyl straight (and tried multiple new rolls) unloaded and loaded the vinyl MULTIPLE times…it rarely to never goes in straight. This Machine Interference Error occurs using no mat, mat and the card mat. No luck either way.I work too late to call customer service and feel trapped. Thinking of going to Michael’s to purchase another one just so I can return it easily if it behaves the same way. But also don’t want to invest ANYMORE MONEY INTO THIS!
I had recently developed an interest in sticker making but didn’t have the space for a full-sized Cricut machine, so I was stoked when I found out about the Cricut Joy! It comes with a little welcome packet including some sample vinyl and instructions; a standard grip mat; and the cord to plug it in. I was a bit surprised when I opened the box and it didn’t include essential tools, such as tweezers, scissors, etc. Luckily, I was able to find a Cricut essential basic tool set for $20, but it’s honestly a disappointment that it’s not included. Setting it up on both my iPad and iMac was a cakewalk, and I was able to print my first decal (a bear) within ten minutes of pulling my Joy out of its box. bought this machine after multiple people recommended it and months of what I thought was research. I downloaded the cricut joy app as it's supposed to be so easy and user friendly. I spent over 3 hrs trying to create 5 labels. and instead I broke the app over 30 times had to restart my phone over and over and jammed the machine multiple times. the only thing this machine successfully cut was the test cut. figured must be me and I did something wrong so called customer support spent another 3 hrs on the phone trying desperately to learn design space app as the lady knew nothing of the cricut joy app itself. so after 3 hrs and getting absolutely no where other than frustrated, I learned that in order to use this machine at all you have to have an apple phone(which ... Morebought this machine after multiple people recommended it and months of what I thought was research.
