Works like a charm. Glad I am able to have multiple applications opened at once, to help with productivity but also multitasking of free time and needed leisure to have music and games and even the search engine in the background all at once. It sure is the dream to have 16GB of RAM for my computer. Get 32GB if you’re really going to open many more things at once if you read this review! You won’t regret it!

Always buy as much memory as you can comfortably afford.

I upgrade and repair computers as a hobby. I purchased four of these memory modules to upgrade an older HPZ240 to 64GB of RAM. The computer is more robust and applications load much faster. Don't get me wrong, I also installed a 2TB Crucial NVME drive and that's where a majority of the speed improvements came from. However, the additional memory did play a significant role in overall system performance and stability.

I got this particular product because it was the same model number as the 16GB RAM module that came with my system. My motherboard has 2 memory slots, so I decided to get a matching stick and upgrade while prices are low. Word on the street is that it's better to get 2 sticks at a time, as the manufacturers can test out pairs ahead of time and make sure there are no problems between the pairs, but I've had no problems in the month and a half I've been running both. I didn't do much testing to compare 16GB single channel vs 32GB dual channel. My CPU-Z Bench CPU test scores went up 5.6% for single thread and 3.3% for multi thread. So, maybe a small performance boost from having memory running in dual channel. The value here is in increased memory, not in a significant ... MoreI got this particular product because it was the same model number as the 16GB RAM module that came with my system. CT8G4DFD824A... a dual ranked chip???
18 July 2019

As per manufacture's website: Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 UDIMM CT8G4DFD824A Specs: DDR4 PC4-19200 • CL=17 • Dual Ranked • x8 based • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR4-2400 • 1.2V • 1024Meg x 64 • Memory's sticker labels product as CT8G4DFD824A. After closer inspection, the chips and circuitry on the board of RAM are slightly different than my original 8GB stick of the same model which is a dual ranked. Also, the only sticker on this chip is the label itself, no other "warranty void" stickers on the chip. I install the RAM and run CPU-Z for chip information. It lists the following information: module manufactured by Crucial Technology, DRAM manufactured by Micron Technology, and part number CT8G4DFD824A but it is a single ranked chip. My original chip shows up as dual ranked in CPU-Z. The first RAM I received from the seller was labeled as CT8G4SFD824A 8GB DDR4-2400 UDIMM 1.2V CL17 on the sticker. As per the manufacturer's website, CT8G4SFD824A is a SODIMM chip. I cannot confirm whether this is an issue of manufacturer defect by mislabeling chips or if this is actually a counterfeit chip but the specs are not as they are advertised by the maker so I feel that a 1 egg rating is in order.

Couldn't give a perfect rating because...
17 October 2023

My first set of chips didn't work, so I sent them back. When the second set of chips didn't work, I asked for assistance, because something was fishy. Turns out, it can sometimes take a very long time to train a laptop to use the chips. I had been waiting a normal amount of time, not a very long time. Had a simple note been placed in the packaging, I wouldn't have had to spend for return shipping and crucial wouldn't have had to send me another set at their expense. It was a colossal waste of time for everybody. A simple fix is all that's needed. Include a note to be patient and let the chip be discovered.

Does Exactly What I Wanted
19 September 2024

I have a Dell Inspiron 3260 with limited opportunity for memory upgrade. My computer had slowed-down considerably, when performing tasks, even with more than 50% of hard drive free space available. The extra 8GB of RAM added increased the processing speed considerably and was a good 'first option' for me.

Good item but bad return policy
10 August 2024

Hopefully b&h posts this review, I ordered the cruicial 16gb dd4 3200 initially because of the search result which although I searched for the lower speed, the result pointed me towards the high one than I needed so I had to it and purchased this ram at 2400 mhz. However b&h photo charges 10 dollars for a return, so beware of this and be very careful when you make a purchase because a mistake on either end you get charged for it.Otherwise as a ram it is pretty good and I liked that I was able to find the exact ram for the current one I have although this is a bit older.

Great RAM Memory
24 October 2023

My HP desktop has been running slowly, and with a total of 12GB RAM, one 8GB, and one 4GB module I found that almost all of the RAM was being used. I would also end up with Registry errors and problems waking the machine from sleep or not going to sleep. At the price offered for a 16GB module, I found it worthwhile to purchase two to upgrade my system. What a difference! The computer is much faster, the screens don't hang up and problems like I've had are no longer there. The Crucial memory modules made all the difference in the world.

If I can do it, anyone can!

So I bought this RAM to upgrade an HP laptop I bought on Black Friday at BB. The laptop was not intended for a ton of storage and came with a 128GB SSD. That was totally fine with me. It wasn't until after I bought it that I noted it only had 4GB RAM. I had thought it had 8. I almost took it back when I found BHP and made this purchase. The funniest part is, I bought this knowing I could up the laptop to 8GB RAM, but I also had been reading a thread about it. Of course, someone had asked the question could it be done. The experts on this laptop said of course it could be done, there was one slot for the card and it would take 8. Towards the end of the thread, there was one guy who said yeah, but this manual says there are 2 slots, would 12GB be possible? The final post was the guy commenting that he had opened his, found 2 slots, put an 8 in, in addition to the installed 4 and his system was recognizing and responding to 12. When it arrived, I finally took the laptop out of the box. Within 20 minutes, I opened up the back, found 2 slots, added this 8GB card. After closing up the back, I turned the computer on and fired it up. It immediately indicated 12GB RAM and has been working nicely since. The card is easy to install and is a way better purchase option than buying a new computer.

My old laptop is much faster now
26 July 2024

I installed this on an old laptop running Windows 10 because it just seemed to be dragging. Even installing system updates seemed to take way too much time. Little did I know that the old drive was almost ready to go when I ordered this SSD drive. The old drive totally died while I was waiting for the new drive to arrive. I also installed more ram, doubling what was there. Now it boots up really fast. I'm a happy camper.
