I bought this to replace a failing discontinued model, for which parts are not available. The lid did not properly engage the motor when I first tried to run it, right after I received it. I was about to return it, but decided to call Cuisinart instead. They sent me an entire new lid assembly which works perfectly. It would be better if Cuisinart would support all of its models. The only reason I had to replace my old one is that the bowls and lids are no longer made. I also love that my complete accessory blade collection actually works in this model. The only thing about it that I don't like is that the lid engagement mechanism is at the BACK of the unit instead of in the front. It's not a "fatal flaw" but is much less convenient than having it in the front. I ... MoreI bought this to replace a failing discontinued model, for which parts are not available. So 5 stars for this because of great service from Cuisinart!

I absolutely love my new Custom 14 Food Processor! I've owned a Custom 11 for 35 years and while it still runs fine, I needed more capacity so I was happy to see that Cuisinart made the 14-cup model. It has more power than the 11 but otherwise operates the same, a real bonus for this senior cook. So far I've sliced, grated and chopped a wide variety of foods and every one of them came out perfectly. My last project was chopping leftover Christmas ham to make ham loaf, and the Custom 14 did a great job: finely, evenly chopped ham "crumbs" that mixed perfectly with the remaining ingredients to make a tasty ham loaf. I've been cooking for 50+ years and I certainly am critical about my tools, but I can find no negatives to report on the Custom 14. My previous food processor was also by Cuisinart, a lower end model which worked great but I wanted to upgrade to a larger capacity. I've read reviews on Ninja, Kitchenaid and others and kept coming back to this 14 cup by Cuisinart. I'm thrilled with the way it works. It's so quiet and smooth and very simple to operate with very little effort. I use it for all chopped and sliced and shredded vegetables, bread and pizza dough and pie crust. I was a little apprehensive spending over $200, but took a chance and so glad I did. This is the Cadillac of food processors in this price range. This is one small appliance that doesn't get put away in-between uses!

I bought this Cuisinart in January 2019 and I am very disappointed in the design (the reason for giving it a one star--for performance, I would give it a 5 stars). I have had many Cuisinart over the years as I had to replace our old ones. Cuisinart changed the design. The cover where you insert the food is now in the back instead of the front and it is very awkward. The cover is also very difficult to clean. I don't put it in the upper rack of the dishwasher because it doesn't work very well after that. It does a good job of processing the ingredients but not easy to clean. I wish Cuisinart would go back to their early design of the 70's. It was simple, easy to use and easy to clean. They probably had their design engineer change the whole model after some dumb mother let her toddler's or her own hand in the bowl while it was running. Having said all that, I once tried a different brand and it was not as good as Cuisinart. All I can advise: when you use your Cuisinart, wash it right away--don't wait. Cuisinart: Please go back to the cover being in the front for loading the ingredients.
Overall this is a very quiet, powerful processor. It is easy to assemble, operate and clean. The extremely sharp blade covers most of the bowl, which really improves its ability to process foods. It does not offer blade lock, but that doesn't seem to be a huge issue for me. This large 14 cuplacks a smaller bowl attachment which would be useful. I also wish it had a dicing disc and an adjustable slicing disc, as both would be very beneficial. There are optional size disc available, very expensive. For me, it works for the big jobs. It is a quality motor and the unit itself is sturdy, does not jump around and again, very quiet. For the size, I like its sleek design as it fits easily into the cabinet for access. I love the design and smaller footprint of this large processor. The blade is sharp, large enough to get to the bowl edges. It is easy to assemble and clean. It has enough power yet is quiet. I also appreciate the small hole for drizzling in oil and other liquids. With its weight it is solid when using, no jumping. The negatives: short unretractable cord, no small bowl accessory, additional shredder and grater sizes are expensive and some areunavailable at this time, no blade lock feature. Chose it over newer models as I feel it is still the best quality and design overall. I am purchasing the new mini 4 cup to compliment this machine for smaller jobs.
This is a fabulous machine and I love it. It is my third Cuisinart foor processor bought for a second home. I was glad to locate this simple model, which may be being phased out and replaced by a more complcated machine. This one fits on the counter under upper cabinets. (The newer models look too high for such a space but I have not measured.) This was the highest rated food processor on one of those rating sites, and I fully agree: It chops even cheddar cheese evenly, the slicing is easy, and the top is simple enough to use. My previous model is not easy to use for slicing, because the top is cumbersome. I have such a top in my previous machine because I bought it at Costco years ago and I think it was a special Costco bonus. This simple top with one hole and a cap is wonderful and is my every day top. I would buy it for my new 14 cup machine if it were available. The Cuisinart site does not show such a smart simple top.As I said, still, this is a fabulous machine and I love it.
I bought my first 7 cup Cuisinart Food Processor in the 1980s at Bloomgdales. It lasted for years. Now I was pleased to see it was on sale online and it had great reviews by professionals so I bought the 14 cup version. I couldn't find assembly instructions in the booklet that came with the machine. Initially I tried to put the work bowl cover on the old way but since the new one is meant to be attached in the rear instead of the front, it took me a while to figure it out. My finger still hurts from my first cut on the very sharp slicer. Ouch! I really needed the big size since I make coleslaw and bread crumbs and I used to have to empty the smaller machine twice. But the base of the machine is so huge and heavy that even my husband had trouble lifting it to put it ... MoreI bought my first 7 cup Cuisinart Food Processor in the 1980s at Bloomgdales. But the base of the machine is so huge and heavy that even my husband had trouble lifting it to put it away. I think that I may have aged a tiny bit since the 1980s and it is not quite so easy to learn new things. I think I will be happy with it eventually but will need to use it a lot more to feel comfortable.
I selected this machine due to its sleek design, it is large but sized to fit in my cabinet easily. It is easy to assemble and clean. It has a very powerful but quiet motor. It is solid, sturdy and does not jump around when in use. I am disappointed that the cord is a bit short, but overall that is not a big issue. I do like the option to drizzle in oil and other liquids through the lid cup. On the negative side, I wish this machine came with an adjustable slicer disc. Cuisinart does offer other discs at cost, but they are fairly expensive and the ones that I want are out of stock. Sadly, Cuisinart doesn't not advise if the out of stock discs are discontinued nor when they might be available if they are not discontinued. None-the-less, I chose this model over the newest because it has the perfect size motor and power and is quiet. It does the job and fits perfectly. While it does not offer a smaller bowl cup for smaller jobs, I did purchase an addition 4C model for that - and I like it as it is small, easy to assemble, use and clean too.
I have had a DC-7 Cuisinart for 30 years = and I love it! But the bowl finally broke. I got a new bowl, but then the top broke. So it greatly pained me to have to buy a new Cuisinart when the old one had a perfectly good motor. But the parts were no longer available. What I like about my new one is that the controls are semi-manual (depress the lever) rather than electronic (press the touchscreen). The plastic seems sturdier than the earlier model. Clever packaging and storage, with the slicing discs being able to be stored within the mixer bowl. Powerful motor, as expected. I guess it was time to get a new one, but I haven't figured out what to do with the old one.
