Water kefir grains create a carbonated lacto-fermented beverage from sugar water, fruit juice, or coconut water. Incredibly easy to use, the starter culture can create a new batch of water kefir every 24-48 hours. Water kefir makes a fantastic non-dairy alternative to milk kefir and can be flavored to make a range of delicious beverages, or as an ingredient in many recipes. Your family will love it!

Ordering and shipping was great. I was exciter about finding this site because I live in a very rural location and I try to make as much of my own food as possible, However, my water kifer grains turned to a pile of mush after about 48 hrs. I followed the directions (non chlorinated or fluoridated water-the only spring water I can get is in plastic bottles that contain chemicals I choose not to ingest) and temps, etc. Then I went to the trouble shooting it says something about too many minerals in the water and I need to get the “pearls” out of the water into water with lower minerals. Well I have no way of knowing how to do that since I do not know the mineral content of my current water. I had purchased these grains for usage in India. The quality of the Water Kefir grains is truly outstanding. Compared to my prior vendors grains in India, these are far superior and this can be seen in the carbonation and flavour. By adhering to the instructions of Nourish me Organics, the grains are steadily multiplying.Without a though go ahead with your purchase from Nourish me Organics. Authentic.Appreciation for your Kind BonusKriben Govender was kind enough to include frozen water Kefir grains at no cost along with the regular organic water Kefir Grains.

I ordered 2 packets from here and all is going well. Primary fermentation is extremely active and I have found that when using a store bought product its best to go straight into secondary fermentation with an 80 percent water kefir to 20 juice ratio. Currently using this culture to jump start some tepache as well. It seems to give all my beverages a nicely aged flavor that is comparable to a sparkling cider on Thanksgiving day would recommend to anyone. My roommate absolutely loves the kombucha culture I got him for Christmas off here as well its extremely active and burnt my nose with it delicious scent only 2 weeks after we had started it. It took failing a ginger bug culture about 6 times before I decided to order these products but money well spent.

I just wanted this to work
12 December 2022

This was my 2nd attempt to rehydrate this brands kefir grains. 1st batch didn’t work so I emailed support and they sent a 2nd. I think the instructions should tell you to just keep an eye on grains and when you see bubbles that’s when to change the water. I saw bubbles and all looked viable but only 4 hours later when I went to strain the grains, they were practically all moosh :( I decided to try a new batch with the almost moosh grains to see if I can resurrect any. There are a lot of reviews on here that this product does not work so I wonder if it’s the instructions and if those need to be updated. I believe I will go for live grains next time and not the dehydrated kind.

It's alive! Fast ferment if fed right.

This is my second time doing water kefir, but the first time using this particular product. I live in a very hot climate, and my first batch of grains sickened after a year and I tossed them. But I had enjoyed the kefir so much that I was super excited to see this on iHerb and had to try it!! The grains are tinier than my previous ones. But I had no problem activating it, even though I was worried that the grains might be damaged in transit, given the high heat in delivery vans here. Mine were definitely alive though! Do NOT use distilled water or tap water. At home I have filtered water that has a pretty good mineral content, and the sugar I used was soft brown sugar (3 tbsp) and Billington's natural molasses (1 tbsp). Do NOT use distilled water or tap water. At home I have filtered water that has a pretty good mineral content, and the sugar I used was soft brown sugar (3 tbsp) and Billington's natural molasses (1 tbsp). I was a bit worried that I was overdoing the minerals, but the grains seemed to love it!! Grains naturally gather at the bottom, but within 24 hours I noticed activity - some grains floating up and down (as they do when the carbon dioxide content increases). They stayed tiny (about 1-2 mm wide)- much tinier than my previous batch (5-6 mm wide), but from the bubbles forming on the top, and within 36 hours the pop of gas whenever I released the catch of my Fido jar confirmed that fermentation was truly taking place. In fact, it was happening too fast, because temperatures here have been high (it went up to 33C/91F today). This is a concern for me because I don't know how long I can keep this batch of grains healthy. I'll have to change the sugar water probably maximum 36 hourly, and I'm sitting the jars in bowls of water hoping that evaporation will cool them down a little. I don't want it to be sweet at all, so after transferring the grains to fresh sugar water I'll leave the kefir to ferment another day before drinking it.

Not very good
20 December 2022

I purchased water kefiir grains in March 2022. The kefir made was ok. The grains themselves have been shrinking ever since I purchased them. Tried to get help with customer service but they were no help. I received different grains from my brother about 3 months later and these grains are awesome. They are 100 times bigger than the grains I bought from Cultures For Health and they grow more and more. Not recommended from this source of grains. My brother got his from Amazon

These water kefir grains are a huge disappointment
30 June 2019

I have made water kefir on and off for over 10 years, because of a broken leg last year I lost my last batch of excellent grains. After spending a few months trying to track down new grains locally, I decided to order these grains. These grains are terrible. I followed the directions and the grains never behaved like healthy grains, they endlessly sulked in the bottom of the ferment jar and only a few grains ever floated. The floating grains never got bigger then a tiny dried french lentil. In the past, the grains I have had, had many floating grains that would float in clusters often larger then a cooked broad bean. With healthy water kefir grains they reproduce so quickly there should be an excess of grains within a week or three, but not with these grains, there ... MoreI have made water kefir on and off for over 10 years, because of a broken leg last year I lost my last batch of excellent grains. With healthy water kefir grains they reproduce so quickly there should be an excess of grains within a week or three, but not with these grains, there has been no growth since I soaked these grains to start. The kefir these grains make is awful, it had a slimy texture, cloying flavor, and largely undetectable fizz, though I used recipes I have used successfully for years. I bought the grains in late January and the instructions promised that even if the grains didn't look all that active at first, they would improve with time. After 6 months of coddling these grains along, they are still barely alive and have not grown at all nor has the flavor or texture of the kefir improved to something that is recognizably good tasty water kefir. The only water kefir I have ever tasted that was near this bad, was a few years ago I lost my grains and I used some very old grains I had dried over a year before. Even those old grains made better kefir then these grains, though it was never as good as the kefir made with healthy live grains. When the kefir is good, I will drink 2-3 liters of it a day, if it's bad I won't drink it. I am tired and annoyed with having to throw so much kefir away trying to reform these awful grains into something tolerable. I am currently looking to get some healthy grains so I can send these jokes of grains to the compost. These grains were awfully expensive for such an utter fail. These grains are a complete waste of money.

I just randomly ran across this website fallowing a link from another site. I just wanted to remark that whoever made this website did a really good job. Everything responds quickly, all the links go to the right places. All the little extras like touch an example photo (pro looking photos too) it jumps to a closer view within the same frame size. Touch again and goes to full page with manual zoom. Then pull down pic and it goes away and back to page. Very intuitive. Many examples of a well crafted site here.
