This worked great in the first week of having it but then I found my phone was constantly angling down, even when I’m just turning a corner slowly. Constantly having to angle my phone up and that’s annoying when I have maps on

I have a cygnet non vent one of these in my car that sticks to my dashboard. I have had it for a number of years and found it robust and excellent and has strong holds to both dashboard (sticking through double sided adhesive) & phone (magnetic).I purchased a vent version for overseas car hire, it is illegal and dangerous to have the phone on the passenger seat when trying to use it for navigation so i really need a proper phone holder device in my car hire. It was an instant fail, within a mile or two it fell straight off the vent, i tried a number of different ways to get it to stay upright, using the vent knobs etc but always failed and on multiple different makes and models of cars. Expensive, but so far fo the job. Magnet is strong. Be carefully not to break the aircon vents
It’s fit for purpose. Comes with 4 magnets to use for several units. Love the stable and firm grip attachment, not flimsy at all. A bit heavy built so will pull down the vent. A bit of adjustment needed to make sure best angle for viewing.
I found that the magnet on this simply wasn’t strong enough to hold my phone consistently. On most journeys it fell off at least once and ended up in the footwell. I will be returning it and trying something else.
Do not buy! Weak magnet. Your phone will fall off at the slightest bump, which in itself is a safety issue and you would be fined for touching your phone to retrieve it from the floor. It’s a piece of rubbish, and it’s irresponsible of the company to sell such a faulty and dangerous item.
I've been very happy with this holder so far. I do a lot of driving and it has fallen off only once. Perhaps I didn't have the phone positioned correctly that time. I'm considering buying a second for our other car. I'm not sure how it would go over rough terrain but on normal suburban roads it has been fantastic. So much esier then the old claw time I previously had.
I am struggling to understand the experiences others have noted. I am using this product in the vent of a VW Golf 7.5 series with an iPhone XS and it far exceeds the performance of any other I have tried. The rubber claw that grips my vent is SUPER sturdy. I was very impressed. Then, after slipping the large rectangular metal plate under my proprietary Apple leather phone case, found the magnetic attachment to be ultra firm. Bumps, speed humps etc do not dislodge the magnetic attachment and I LOVE the grab-and-go factor that this solution provides. I cannot stand messing around with claws that squeeze my phone into place and found this type of option in the past has been less effective over time. I HIGHLY rate this product and trust me... I am one fussy consumer!!
The magnet is not so strong. If plate is attached directly to the phone it's OK, but even through a thin case it will not hold even a small phone like a Sony Z3.However, the vent clip is the worst. Almost no grip. If the magnet actually holds the phone then removing the phone simply pulls the mount right off the vent.Useless.
