Initial experience of these NYXL was with my Strat after years of using Fender Bullets. Wow! Massive improvement in tone and feel / playability with the 10-46 set on that guitar. These 9-46 I bought to try on my Tele. Been using Hybrid Slinky on it for a long time. Initial reaction to the NYXL on the Tele is the change in tone is not as dramatic as with the change from Bullets on the Strat but the feel and playability is way better. I will try NYXL on the Tele again.

A Noticeable Difference, Yes.

1st Impression: The first thing I noticed, which was different from all other strings I've used - their surfaces are, "clean"; that is, to say, they have a, "polished", slick feel to them. 2nd Impression: These strings come to tune, very, quickly, and seem to stay there, better than others I've used. I remember, actually, a sense of relief: "I get to skip, a step, or two. (lengthy stretching)!" Next - with, just, normal, maintenance, there was no inclination to want to change them - even after several months. I thought about it, then, realized, I didn't need to. I went on for another month, then, decided to change them, anyway - just out of habit! I almost wanted to save them, as, "extras". I've never had that experience with other strings; this was, truly, unique. ... More1st Impression: The first thing I noticed, which was different from all other strings I've used - their surfaces are, "clean"; that is, to say, they have a, "polished", slick feel to them. 2nd Impression: These strings come to tune, very, quickly, and seem to stay there, better than others I've used. ProAudioStar Overcharges Sales Tax, Refuses to Refund the Difference
27 August 2020

In reviewing my order history, I found that ProAudioStar has overcharged me sales tax on all my purchases this year. My county sales tax is 6.75%, but on two of my purchases PAS charged 9.75% sales tax, a full 3 percent more. In between those purchases, PAS charged 8% sales tax on an order, still 1.25% higher than what I should be paying. The three orders this year totaled about $1,000, so the tax difference is rather significant. When I pointed out the error to ProAudioStar, I was told by JoeW that "Unfortunately, Im unable to provide any refunds for tax collected at this time.". This was even after I provided a link to the Avalara web site https://www.avalara.com/taxrates/en/state-rates/ohio.html, demonstrating that I was correct about my tax rate. Review of D'Addario NYXL0946 9-46 Nickel Wound Electric Guitar Strings
27 June 2024

I’ve been off them for years but decided to try again to see if the new wrapper matches the quality. After 5 days they were rusty and slides down the fretboard became uncomfortable. Still prefer coated competition despite the sound may not be as good.

Strings just don't break
5 November 2023

I can honestly say that since I've started using NYXLs I have never broken a string. They last longer, sound & feel better. I also really like the guage set (light top/regular bottom). Setup doesn't need to change; you get the ease of 9's and the stability of 10s. A win win for me!

Surprisingly good strings.
26 October 2022

I'm one of those people that ends up putting different strings on different instruments. My Telecasters usually use Fender 250s, my Strats DR Blues, my Les Pauls and Heritage guitars usually use Curt Mangan or Gibson Vintage 10s.I have been wanting to try the NYXL strings and was quite surprised that they have greater output at the same gauge compared to other nickel-wound strings, seem to stretch farther than most strings I've used, and seems to hold their tension better. I've had a set of NYXL on a Warrior and Epi Muse and have been generally pleased with the strings. Tuning stability is good, easy playability, and having that new string sound seems to last longer than any string except the Curt Mangan's I use on most of my Gibsons, Heritage, and PRS ... MoreI'm one of those people that ends up putting different strings on different instruments. The Best String
10 April 2024

I have these On My B Bender, because they do not break, have them for my Pedal Steel, and just ordered a set for an acoustic, have used them on a great Stratocaster. Yesterday changed these on a Sire S7 that I had put on a set of these on 10/28/2023 and just changed to a new set 01/09/2024. The Sire S7 is played sometimes 2 or 3 hours per day. What is funny is, I didn't really need to change them yet because they sounded like most of my guitars after 2 or 3 weeks on a string. How many times have you gone over 5 months and not changed strings on a highly played guitar? I clean them once a week usually. On my B Bender Brent Mason guitar, I have had them on about 16 months and still like new. I do not play that guitar very often. These are awesome strings.

They seem great
28 June 2024

I bought strings on the recommendation of the the Guitar Center staff and they seemed great. I am building a guitar kit and went to get replacement string for the cheap ones that came with the kit, well I overtightened my high E and snapped it. So I replaced them with the basic version of this same brand. I am new to this and do not need the high dollar version of the strings, maybe when I get to where can play something I will go back to them.

I'm a Tele guy so that is my point of reference. These strings are way different from any other strings I've tried. They actually create a higher output through your pickups and there is a lot about them I find really appealing. For now I've decided they are not for me, but...they do really cool things and very much make a difference in tone easily as noticeable as changing pickups or saddles. I found them to roll off the highs and enhance the mids in a really nice way. The unwound strings sound much smoother on a Tele. They cut through a mix. They articulate with dirt. But they do seem to distort earlier.....because they create a higher output. 5 stars because they really do a thing. They are not my thing at this time.
