I absolutely love these and they make it so much easier to run the game at the table without having to have the monster manual or an app open. Each card shows all the stats found for each Monster Manual entry, with some of the stats simplified to fit on the cards (for example, only modifiers---not ability scores---are shown. My biggest complaint is the lack of animal cards, which would be super useful for druids, and NPCs like commoners, thugs, veterans, etc. There are also some cards missing, such as dragon wyrmlings and unicorns, inexplicably. Keep in mind when you buy these that they aren't all normal card sizes. Some are wider to fit all the information explained on them.

I have been GMing for over 45 years now, and I used to make my own handy cards on 3x5 and 5x8 cards. These sturdy cards have all the information that I need and more. (Please see the enclosed pictures.) One side has a picture of the critter in question, and the other side has all the information that you could want to plan fun encounters. The cards are colorful and plastic coated. These will survive a "soft drink apocalypse" at the gaming table. I love these, and I wish that they had been around 40 years earlier.

I like that these have the exact info from the Monster Manual, but the fact that the cards are not the same size makes it difficult to use. The small ones would fit into a 9x9 binder. However, the medium sizes don't fit in a binder. The next option would be an index card box, but there are large size cards that won't fit. These are a great idea, but not helpful in their current sizes. I'm disappointed, because it seems like whoever designed these hasn't ever been the DM or even played to know that this design is impracticable.

I love the idea and execution. I am disappointed with how many monsters/creatures/NPCs are missing. It's also frustrating to have the cards be different sizes. Makes it difficult to alphabetize them together rather than in two separate stacks.

Out of all the monster decks and character decks. This is by far my favorite. My player group are all high level and these group of monster cards are perfect for running my encounters easily. Highly recommend for challenging the higher level characters in a campaign.

Pro: Decent quality, text is legible IMO, design is good Con: While I didn’t expect this set to include all (CR 0-5) monsters from every supplement I did expect all the 5e (CR 0-5) monsters from the 5e Monster Manual to be included. You have to manually search for deck to see ones that the set includes too since there’s no “included monster” list either.

The cards themselves are great, good quality, detailed. However, they are not in any standard size (5x5), so getting sleeves for them is hard work. I had to purchase 5x7 sleeves and cut them to the right size. Also no deck boxes for them, so had to purchase a carrying case for decks and resize with internal dividers.

These cards are great for their intended purpose. However WotC has decided that having cards that are already an annoying 2 different sizes wasnt enough that they had to add a 3rd size. These cards are basically 4 7/8" square, so the only sleeves they fit into are the 5" x 7" 2 pocket photo pages. WotC also couldnt be bothered to put artwork on every card either, guess it was to difficult to get artwork for Creatures and monsters that they most likely have already..

6 March 2020

While the cards themselves are well made and beautifully detailed, the lack of variety is evident. Based on the description given for the product, I was expecting a majority of the creatures featured to come from the Monster Manual rather than from three different books. The deck seems to be a little heavy handed in the dragon and demon categories which is great if that's all a DM wants to have their players encounter. I would recommend this deck more as a supplement and not your sole monster reference.
