It comes with a disc so you can install the software, but if your computer doesn't have a disc drive it tells you to go to their website and download the software. This would be easy if you had internet, but if you're buying this product it's probably because you don't have internet. I had to download the software on a friends computer, put it on a USB, and move it to my computer.

This DWA-181 did not work for me on dual band. After three (3) replacements it still could not recognise our 5G router. We have a 171 & 182 that work perfectly but not this 181. D-Link support is excellent via telephone & emails bar none. I am receiving a refund. Thank you for the support D-Link.

I bought this to use on Mac OS 10.11. It works fine but the software insists on searching for a WPS signal each time the computerrestarts. Fine for me as I can just cancel the search but I was setting this up for a nana in her 80s and not fine for her. I called D-Link help line who said it must be a Mac issue. I know it isn't as the computer only does this with this software installed. Overall I cannot recommend this item for use with a Mac even though it can be made to work.

when i first installed it, it was incredibly slow, 10MBps down to 700KB at time youtube videos played at 240p and still had to buffer. I had installed the driver on the disc, but after going to the support site and getting the 1.02 driver it works much better, though not at speeds I was hoping for. 26MBps last time i tested, and it now plays hd videos without interruption. I will be installing a wireless router in my room to hopefully boost the speeds as this isnt even half, or a quarter of the advertised speed, even on 2.4ghz.
So far everything is working fine. Hppe it continues. Thanks to the Geek Sqaud for all their help.
I've had one for about 1 1/2 months now and I'm already experiencing problems. First off it wasn't detecting my 5ghz wifi so I had to actually uninstall all the drivers that were on the disc and download them from the internet. then my 5ghz wifi worked for about 3 weeks and now I cant find it again. Problem 2, the internet cuts out a lot. it also gets very slow at times only on my computer using this adapter. Lastly, I've noticed it gets quite warm which i don't think its supposed to do

Only required for usual office tasks, email, Internet browsing, updates to computer, etc. Priced right. No complaints whatsoever. Highly recommend.
I had never ending problems connecting to my wifi with my old adapter, Im handy with a PC yet I couldnt fix it. Bit the bullet and purchased the D-Link AC1300 adaptor, No problems whatsoever now. I connect first go now and appreciate the speed this adapter provides. I would highly recommend this product if like me, nothing else works to fix my wifi, but this D-Link sure did. Im one happy customer.
Bought this product few months ago. Had problems from very first beginning. On Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz signal is decent, but I bought it for 5Ghz for increased speed. On 5GHz, dropping connection every two minutes and once you change the position of your laptop or you cover the adapter with any object (even with your hand) is losing signal. All my other connected items are doing fine on 5Ghz (because they have a proper antenna). I have bought even a Wi-Fi range extender and I can confirm that the issue is the adapter. Only time that works fine is if you are close to your router and in direct sight if possible. D-Link customer support was worthless. I've tried all USB ports (2.0 and 3.0).
After a couple of minutes I notice the bandwidth drops off. I get very good download/upload at first. Then videos start stuttering or dropping. Ookla speedtest done and shows speeds not good. Unplug usb and replug and this fixes it but then it drops off again. Will return this and try different mfg.
