This reel seems to hit all the right spots in the right way. Just enough drag (although I don’t know why this one gets 22lbs and their sub $100 Emcast gets 26lbs), wide spool to aid with the casting, holds plenty of line, and overall has a solid build that feels great. One thing to note though is that the one I bought from BassPro was returned because I found it cheaper elsewhere by $50.
I purchased the 8000 for salt water applications and will be purchasing the 5000 for big game applications. My 8000 arrived as Right Retrieve. My local bait shop offered guidance on changing retrieve position.
