This is the best reel out there, period. Has a wide sweep power handle and can easily outcast the antares dc without any effort. I've never had a better reel in my life and without having to pay the high cost of other high end megabass, shimano, or any of the other expensive reels out there.

This is one nice and definitely dependable Baitcaster that really holds up in saltwater. Ive tried other brands that looks really good when new, but it cannot withstand the corrosion from the saltwater in just 2 weeks and started squealing. So I had to return them.

Reel worked great when new, but after the second use the reel felt like if I had used for a whole year. I opened it and cleaned it, again reel worked like a champ but then again after that one trip it when back to crap. This is has been the only Daiwa that I have ever had any issues with, so I know its not me or the way that I care for it. I still have it and use it but I am not satisfied with the product.
I think this reel may be defective because it makes a loud whistling sound during casting. Not on every cast but at least four out of 10 cast
Once adjusted this reel is almost impossible to backlash..it is super smooth and makes incredible casts with light baits and cork/live bait..I have 4 of them! I love the smooth drag system and lightweight...i catch many speckled trout,redfish,, and flounder with these reels..
i'm giving it a 5star but will update after open it up (end of season) and see how well it held up with basic cleaning after each use. Other than that, I do believe that the 40% lighter spool does make a difference in my casting. It consistently casts well on days when i'm fishing a swimbait. IMO, when it comes to casting 3/8 oz lures or bigger...there is no difference in casting distance than when I use my Lews Super duty 300. But I believe it shines when using lighter lures. I did have to grease a couple key points upon 1st opening it up but other than that it's been pretty flawless.
After dialing the tension correctly, I can't backlash this thing. I was throwing a top water 120 ft with ease. And the drag is butter smooth. Redfish and big speckled trout have proven this was the perfect purchase.
I really wanted to like this reel. I have been a long time Shimano Reel faithful but wanted to try something different, as I heard this Daiwa Inshore Coastal would be an excellent choice, and even was recommended here by one of the better fishing guides.Well, I was disappointed. After cast, after cast it was just okay. I think the TWS system might just be a gimmick.It cast okay, but their is no comparison between this reel and the Shimano Chronarch I have. I will say it is a very nice looking reel, solidly built, and very light weight but it just isn't for me so I will be returning, and buying the newest Chronarch. This reel may work for others, but again just isn't for me. Live and Learn.
Smooth reel for flounder and other bottomfish. It's even caught a couple octopus for me. This light reel pairs nicely with the 7' inshore Daiwa Sol rod. The release bar can be flipped up with your thumb to stop line flow making this a one-handed vertical jigging phenom! Thumb down to release line...thumb up to stop...jig, jig, jig--fish on!
