Abrasion may be an issue?

I spooled some of the 30 lb j-braid and took it out for an evening to throw. My line came back to me with a lot of knicks and fuzz in it. I was fishing opening water with nothing but grass bottom. Decided to re-spool my entire reel with my go-to suffix 832. It was such a weird thing. You’d think I had been fishing some of the craziest cover ever. I saved the line and will re-test at a later date.

After months of trying different lines, I settled on Sufix 832, deeming that it was the best. Then I tried Diawa J-Braid and Holy Whaaa...I found the best. Hear me out, both these lines perform very very well. For my testing, I used the same reel, same poles and same lures, side by side. I have no complaints. There is very little resistance and they can cast a mile under right conditions. After a lot of heavy use they can both fray, and you end up sacrificing large sections. The main difference is the sound through the eyes. There is practically no braid pull sound with the J-Braid. That translates to its easier on the fishing pole long term.

I'm the kind of angler that likes to try different things, including just about every braid from Chinese crap to the most expensive.i almost exclusively use 10lb test to catch snook redfish, jacks etc off the beach.i find myself going back to j-braid grand and momoi diamond braid x8 .super soft and pliable and casts like a dream!! Highly recommend!! The only downside if any is if im fishing bridges, docks mangroves the abrasion resistance might be challenged.

Great braid. Issue with 6lb version
1 October 2021

Probably the furthest and smoothest casting line I've ever used. Bought the 8lb in blue and it pairs perfectly with ceymar C10 reel and celilo rod. Makes for a super lightweight and capable rig that works great for all day lake fishing. One warning though- I tried the the 6lb version and that bird-nested really badly at least once per outing. It's just too flimsy, so I don't recommend that particular version. 8lb doesn't have that problem though

J-Braid X8

Love this braid. I use it on my spinning reelsin freshwater, and I've never had a problem. Casts great, limp, excellent strength, no snarls. Seems to last forever, and doesn't fade like some other higher priced braids. What more can a guy ask for? Oh, great prices at Discount Tackle!

One of the best braid I ever used!
9 May 2022

I have to say that diawa j braid 8 strand is the softest braid i ever felt before and the smallest diameter I ever seen! If you are trying to save some money and is using Kastking braided line, try using J braid 8 strands, you won't regret it and it is worth the money compare to power pro super slick (More expensive line) One negative about the line is that if you get a bad spool (rarely) sometimes the braid knot strength is weak so be careful. Overall check out this line, you won't look back at the off brand braided lines.

One of the best!
7 August 2021

This product has not let me down. It holds up to the punishment of distance surf casting in the currents and the Jetty's and cast wonderfully. I say distance but my skills net me just over 100 yards...not quite a pro but better than most I run into here the gulf. The line is consistent and very smooth which also makes it quiet. Hard to get used to hearing line noise after you get used to not hearing it. The only problem i have with this line is that it seems that when I go to buy the light gray is always harder to find. Highly recommended!Tight lines!

Quietest braid ever
7 August 2022

When I first tried the J-8 Grand several years ago I was not impressed. It was good line but wind-knotted frequently which makes it not so good. So I picked up another spool in my normal 8# and what a difference. I switched from the grey to the marine blue and the difference is unbelievable. Unfortunately I will never know why the newer Grand is better but it is the only line I use and buy currently. The 8# landed a 32" drum in the OBX surf so I know it is strong!

Sure is Pretty
24 July 2021

I tried the 80# Diawa J-Braid line a couple of years ago for muskies. I thought it handled as well as any line and I'm a fan of the blue color. Though green seems more invisible in the water looking from the top or side, I'm guessing the blue might be more invisible from below looking up at the sky? It also looks really pretty on most reels if you're into that and all other things being equal - why not?. I saw this "Grand" version so I decided to try it. It's a little slicker and more supple than the original. I've only used it for a couple of hours but my impression is that it casts and retrieves a little smoother and makes a bit less zipping noise going through the guides so I'd say as much as I liked the original, I like the Grand even better.I'm thinking it ... MoreI tried the 80# Diawa J-Braid line a couple of years ago for muskies. Terrible Line
4 October 2022

Terrible line. I was using on my Shimano Baitcaster, the line kept tanngling on the reel. It was like it melted or got stuck to the rest of the line on the reel. I also lost 2 light to medium lures while casting. The line just snapped, not my knot undoing. I know this as I saw a bit of the line follow the lures into the deep. The line was recommened by the staff member after I show the type and size of lures I usually use, and would match the reel and rod I purchased at the same time. I changed out for mono and no further issues.
