Wow, love this reel. Power knob as standard, fantastic braid capacity and smooth reeling action. The drag has this sound that when you got something on the line you let it run that little longer. Light weight good to throw slugs in the surf or off the rocks.

Very nice reel! I recently purchased the Saltist MQ 6000 and was impressed with the build quality. This 2500 size doesn't disappoint. I've yet to put either of them to the test but they are as great looking, stout, smooth as any of my Shimano reels. I may be tempted to switch. Diawa has a few more reels with the MQ design that would directly compete with all of my Shimano reels.

Have used this reel extensively whilst having it and have enjoyed using it. Reliable and smooth however looses its out of the boat smoothness as all similar reels do. I also do own Saragossa and Twin powers as-well, and find that these reels out class the saltist especially at its price point and i will always recommend the shimano reels over the Saltist MQ. This reel however is amazing but i feel for the price point there are better options available.

Great reel very smooth and light. Very fast shipping and reliable from tackle direct. Wanted this reel for a few months but it was out of stock, finally it came back in stock very happy to own one. Get it when you still can before its all gone. Will test the reel out very soon. Probably will get another one =).
MQ 6000 is smaller in body than previous 6500, but doesn't mean its bad. Drag is not as strong as in previous 6500, but only by 2-3 kg. very smooth, well made. Definitely worth money
Awesome reel by Daiwa. Super smooth, silent and powerful. I paired this with a 10 foot light surf rod for shore jigging and beach fishing. Caught some decent size salmon with little reeling effort.
2 trips out at the surfside jetty and has performed spectacularly with speckled trout and a few reds including a new pb 37†Bull red. The drag is super strong and made quick work on that bull. The reel performs similar to my shimano twinpower but a bit cheaper on price. The ball handle is a nice touch and works well for spooning. Up close the special composite material on the rotor and monoque looks like cheap plastic similar to the bg line up. Could have made that part look higher end with some nice paint like shimano does . Overall excellent reel for now until it need servicing a few years from now .
Don't expect bells and whistles, this is a no-nonsense beast of a real. No reverse/anti reverse switch and auto return on the bail arm. At first I thought this was not good until I remembered that I never use them anyway (less useless features, the less that can go wrong). This real has plenty of power and a super drag. Thus far, I can't fault it.
First larger Daiwa spinning reel I’ve bought. Has done great on surf and nearshore and has pulled in multiple slot to overslot/ bull redfish drag was smooth as butter the whole time. Reeling is smooth and crisp. Bail arm has a very crisp and secure sound when engaged after a cast. Aesthetically it looks pretty good too. Would buy another and probably will down the line to add to my surf rods.
These reels are fantastic, but sizes - of actual body, are completely off. Previous generation saltist 6500 is far larger than MQ's 8000£. obviously spool is deeper but because of body handle arms are smaller
