I was amazed to see a Daiwa reel at such a great price. Even though I already had a good reel, I had to have one. I was impressed on taking the reel out of the box - quality finish and very smooth running. I was equally impressed on using it for the first time. All in all, a great purchase.

Bought formy daughter as a step up from the kiddy gear. I've had constant issues with the anti reverse clutch and bale. I can fix it temporarily by pulling it apart, cleaning and lubing but the slightest contamination makes the reel near unusable. Spend a bit more or by a Sienna...

Excellent reel for the money.I normally stick to Shimano gear but thought I would give Daiwa a go.Very happy with this very inexpensive spinning reel.Great casting distance & smooth rewind. Couldn't ask for more.

I have had a number of Daiwa products before. I still have an old Daiwa beach spinning reel. It is an anniverary model and must be over 50 years old. Still use it occasionally.I now prefer the Alvey side cast for the beach but the old Daiwa still works perfectly.
I bought this reel as a cheep reel to put on my KATO Legend rod. I can't believe I'm saying this but this is my favourite combo its light and cheep, Casts well, has a nice handle feel it is reliable all round. Great reel for the price. For Beginner or passionate fisherman. Hope this helped.
I purchased the 2000 to pair with my 7 ft rod. I've caught more fish on this setup than my other saltwater reels. This is a freshwater reel. Have not had any issues using in salt. Just rinse with freshwater after every outing. Going to purchase the 3500. Can't beat it for the price.
Surprisingly good quality, considering that the body and handle are made of some composite material. I haven't fished with it yet, but seems like it will work fine. Except for one big problem, at least for me. The usual anti reverse lever is not... there. The reel has fixed anti reverse. I can't imagine doing some nice, fast casting with this thing, always trying to line up the bail just so. Also, a drag is nice, but sometimes I want more control, and need to do some reverse action while fighting a fish. Finding other reviews of this reel on the 'net, I'm not the only one complaining about this. This inexpensive reel is ok for some of my fishing, like trolling, but I won't be doing a lot of casting with it.
I have a box full of expensive fishing reels that need to be repaired but there is no one to repair them. Also, if it was someone available the cost would be so high that it would not be worth it. So, what is a man to do- buy inexpensive reels with great drags and when they break THROW THEM AWAY. Diawa Sweepfire is one of those choices and they are excellent- about $20. I can buy 6 of those for less than one expensive reel and don't have to worry about cost.
The best reel money can buy. Fully metal. Cast and reel very smooth. Gear extremely quiet. Love the big handle.
Fully metal housing. Heavy and big reel. Great quality!! Good for salt water fishing.
