I have several of the older style tatula sv tw reels, and they have all held up very well. I have several Shimano Curados, and although they start out slightly smoother than the Tatulas they seem to get slightly grindy after a season or two. All my Daiwas are just as smooth after 3 years as they were when new. The SV 70 casts light lures well when paired with a medium or lighter powered rod. I'm very happy with my purchase and will probably replace my older Tatula SV TW reels with this smaller version when and if they wear out.

Just purchased my second one of these. I have the 7.1:1 and now the 8.1:1. Very smooth and easy casting. I love Daiwa's breaking system on these, very easy to dial in and so far very minimal backlashes, the few that I have had were not very bad at all.

Fishing for over 40 years. I have owned several types/ brands of reels. Not saying this one is better than the rest, but? I have never skipped jigs this easily and when hitting the water hard, very little penalty/ backlash if reel is adjusted correctly.

This is just a first impression, as I haven't been able to fish with it yet. That being said, this reel is tiny! It's my first Daiwa, and I wanted the smallest possible reel without dipping into bfs reel territory, as I already have a Shimano Aldebaran BFS for small lures. I wanted a reel with a small line capacity, that I can throw small to mid size lures with, so I could cover all avenues for trout fishing here in Tassie. This Tatula 70 SV TW fitted the bill nicely on paper, and in hand I'm loving it. Did I say it was tiny?!? Aside from its small stature, it feels nice and smooth cranking the handle, rubber knobs feel nice and grippy, like they'll be nice and grippy even when wet just like Shimano knobs. I cannot wait for the new season to open up here so I can ... MoreThis is just a first impression, as I haven't been able to fish with it yet. That being said, this reel is tiny! This reel is good for those who want to throw the 2 to 5 gram lures and I believe it will be an excellent bfs reel when there is a sub 7 gram spool available. As is, it works best with 3.5 gram (1/8 oz) lures. The sv spool does a great job of controlling backlash and it is smooth enough. The only gripe I have is the bland grey color but that's just me.
Stylish and very light and easy to cast. this is my fourth TW reel. Love all of them.
