My family has 3 these backpacks. One is used by daddy and two other by his sons. We love the feature of built in insulated section as both kids use it to keep their lunch fresh as well us daddy during commute time. Laptop section is convenient for both iPad and laptop.25L is the perfect size for 162-170 cm height adult as well as 10 and 11 years old kids. Smaller one was not useful due to limited insulation bag size and larger one is probably for a quiet tall person. We have another kiddo and she can't wait for her backpack too :)

I bought both the 25 L and 33L backpacks over boxing day as I really couldn't figure which size would be best for me . I use it for work and use it to carry lunch, study notes, at times my laptop and some gym clothes . I often go to the grocery store on my way home from work and try to only use my backpack - so all that being said I've chosen the 33L as I found it, while quite big (and tall across the back )- a better choice for all the things I carry around . The 25L was a very good size for someone carrying basics and traveling somewhere for 2 days for example. The 33L I would take on multi-day trip if I were traveling light. You could put an ice pack and keep some drinks cold or keep something warm in the winter (I've never had this in a backpack !!) There a super soft pocket where you could put your sunglasses into at the front and a million little pockets inside as well. I do love the casual chest strap in case it does get heavy - a feature I've only ever had on my hiking packs- not city ones so I really love that - while it may feel a little nerdy in the city- my back will be grateful! Lastly, the colors- the red is very rich and gorgeous- very similar to the photo! The yellow I found also really nice but more of a mustard yellow than a bright yellow . Excellent pack !

Bought this backpack for my grade 4 student and confident it will grow with him. It is shorter body to the 33L design but all the the key design features we were looking for. Great all in one bag. Padded computer compartment, tall and wide enough for full size workbooks, separate compartment for change of clothes or extra books, insulated compartment for lunch, side pock for water, panel for smaller items. Even a chest strap - that is rare in school backpacks! Also some pockets we weren’t looking for that are fun extras for child - eg. lined-section for sunglasses. Quality is durable but light. I suspect this would be small for a high schooler if there are many textbooks… but great for grade through middle school.

I got this backpack as a replacement for the one I had bought in 2016. This is the same exact style, but there have been some changes that I don't like. It's smaller, the small front pocket is now zippered, and the space with the little zippered pouch inside is now as deep as the whole bag (previously is was half). And the sunglasses pocket is now on the front of the bag instead of on the top. I don't like any of those changes. I have a really hard time getting my sunglasses in and out of the pocket because the zipper doesn't open wide enough. I wish the zippers on the 2 small pockets on the front were on the opposite sides that they are - every time I have the backpack on one shoulder and want to grab my keys out that front pocket, it's the wrong side. If the pocket were open like in the old design, it wouldn't matter what side I was grabbing from. Other than the changes in design, I love the backpack. It's well made and has the features I want, just not exactly how I want them.
Great bag with plenty of necessary stash compartments. I have four Dakine Backpacks and each one is a little different and each new model offers modifications that either are or are not necessary changes. I like this bag, but they moved a few things from previous design iterations and I like the old placements better. Next, I think it's a little narrow in comparison to a different 25L Dakine that I have. Knowing this, I might upgrade to the new 33L and sell this and my old 25L bags. Nonetheless, the quality is good and design features still meet my needs. A few changes are needed to be ultimately perfect, so that's certainly not worth complaining about. One thing I really wish it had was a roller board strap and slightly larger water bottle pockets. There's two of them, and my bottles are narrow- with both of the bottle pockets full, the interior gets even narrower- yikes. It's a decent day-use pack. I'll need to upgrade in the near future though.
I love this backpack! I bought it for school but I also wanted something that I could use if I wanted to take a short trip or go on a hike. I was excited about the front insulated pocket and think it works well for what I need. However, it is relatively small and therefore there isn't much room to place an ice pack in it so if you are hoping to keep your food cold all day, you might be out of luck. However, for me it is perfect to keep any condensation off of my other items and keep my food fine for a few hours. The biggest downside for me is the zippered area for pencils/pens etc. It is extremely small and I can barely fit pencils in the holders without them hitting the zipper. I end up putting them in the larger holders and let them fall diagonally.Lastly, the ... MoreI love this backpack! I had a hard time choosing between this size and the larger option when buying it, however, I have a friend who has recently purchased the larger version and personally I like the smaller version on my frame (5'4"). I have no problem fitting multiple notebooks plus my laptop in the 25L version.Would definitely purchase again!! Love the durability of Dakine products :)
My kids are small for their age, so they’ve used their Grom packs since kindergarten. This year with “hybrid” learning, they’re only at school twice a week and they have to bring their issued Chromebooks with them when they attend. I decided it was time to upgrade so a slightly bigger pack with a padded laptop space. This pack is much bigger and holds a ton, but isn’t so big that it’s hurting my 4th grader on the back of her knees when she walks. The side pockets are perfect for her water bottle, but if you had a wider hydroflask (with a M or larger base) I don’t think it would fit. I know that Dakine packs last for years, so I always know that I’m getting great quality and I’m sure that pack that will follow her through school. I am never disappointed with the quality stitching and build of DaKine backpacks, which has made me regular customer for this brand. I am a working student within an urban setting, so I was in need of a reliable backpack that was spacious with still enough room to hold my 15” laptop with room for extra belongings while in transit. The padded section keeps my laptop secure, and offers much more space than I anticipated. My favorite part of this pack is the cooler section and the lined sunglass pouch. Some cons with this pack: I have a short torso (I am 4’9”) and the shoulder straps tend to dig into my neck- not too bad once they are loosened. The biggest gripe I have with my purchase is that the color of the pack was not true to what was shown online.
I’m really picky about bags I’ve bought numerous bags and they all end up in the closet . This one is a winner . I bought the garnet red color .This bag has all my must have features.Water resistant, organizational pockets , two bottle compartments one I use for my umbrella . Padded laptop sleeve , and supportive padding and strap. I carry so much in this bag so it’s super heavy but the bag is so supportive I feel like the weight is balanced . Great for school work or even a small weekend adventure. Also I’ve never had a backpack with a cooler pretty awesome . The size is perfect not too big or small . Only reason why I give it 4 stars is because it doesn’t have key strap . I wish they had more color options and designs . And I wish they made a tote version of ... MoreI’m really picky about bags I’ve bought numerous bags and they all end up in the closet . This one is a winner . I really wanted to love this backpack. My old Dakine 25L Prom finally needed to be replaced after many years of usage. Since the 25L Campus was supposed to be the replacement for that exact backpack, and the size measurements were almost identical, I expected the same roomy but sturdy design I was used to. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. This backpack is TINY! I held it up right next to my old Prom backpack, and there is no comparison. Tried fitting all of the things I carry to and from work daily, and the backpack barely closed-- and I would not have been able to fit my water bottle into the outside sleeves anymore. So, unfortunately, I will end up returning this one and am crossing my fingers that the 33L is a better fit for me.
