I've used Dakins Scout gloves a number of times over the years. To be honest, I would have preferred ledthrt, but the rubbertec is fine. Waterproof, warm. Cinch for your wrist, tensioner on the back. Soft material to wipe your face(nose usually) and screen wipe to clear your goggles. Good dized cuff to go over your hacket sleeve. Nice additional glove liner included for the really cold days. A classic glove.

These gloves were great for my hike up Kilimanjaro, primarily on Summit night when temperatures were around -5 F with the wind chill. Once the sun came out, I only needed the inner liners, which were also amazingly comfortable and warm in the 10 degree F weather. The only downside, and the reason I gave it only 2 stars instead of 5 is because the inner gloves snap onto the outer layer, and the inner layer ripped when trying to unsnap it THE FIRST TIME. That was pretty discouraging as I eventually lost them on the hike up. Other than that, these are some top of the line gloves for almost any weather condition.

Dakine mitts are basically disposable in my mind, but this pair (my first leather palmed ones of about 5 titans in the past 6-8 years) was particulary disappointing. On day one, the cuff cinch, a bit of leather at the end of the elastic strap, seperated. So I had to tie it in a knot to make it work. Functional enough fix but after only like 3 pulls, I was miffed. I buy these mitts because they're gore-tex and have a squeegee on the thumb, which I need for the Mt. Hood winters in the wet PNW. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't bother. I also like the nose wipe, general design, and mid-weight warmth. So I'll keep buying them. On sale. Because they're throw-aways. I have a whole tupperware full of random L/Rs from the survivors of all the pairs that never last more then ... MoreDakine mitts are basically disposable in my mind, but this pair (my first leather palmed ones of about 5 titans in the past 6-8 years) was particulary disappointing. This is my third pair of Dakines. First two pair I bought approximately 10 years ago a couple of seasons apart. Thus, when I saw these, I immediately bought them. They have a break-in period. Once broken-in, the leather is soft and supple, and in my humble opinion, will last ten + years. Yes, the price is steep, but if you use them like I've used mine, it ends up around 25 bucks a year (I used my 20% off coupon on these). As much as I ski, these are an investment. I saw a review that mentioned the faux leather, he had the wrong gloves, these gloves palms are leather. I bought an XL, they are tight so make sure you get the correct size.Note - the red gloves do "not" have leather palms
These mittens are good, albeit not very well suited to the PNW, where I snowboard. They've held up really well, considering the abuse I've put them through. They're extraordinarily warm. Sometimes juuuust a bit to warm, sometimes causing my hands to get sweaty, which is also a result of them not being very breathable. In wetter conditions you will get wet, after enough times falling and planting your hands in the snow. The removeable touchscreen-compatible liners are great, stopping your hands from getting too cold when you briefly remove the mittens to unzip your pockets or switch up your tunes. You can also remove them and dry them out, as they absorb most of the sweat from your hands. Overall, I think they're well suited to drier conditions, keep in mind these ... MoreThese mittens are good, albeit not very well suited to the PNW, where I snowboard. Overall, I think they're well suited to drier conditions, keep in mind these aren't leather or Gore-Tex, so you will get wet eventually. They are well made, they haven't fallen apart yet, and I like the little touches like the soft backside of the thumb for wiping your nose, and the goggle wipe on the other thumb.
The liner in these gloves moves around substantially. I use them for skiing and the lining moves so much relative to the shell that it's hard to hold onto the pole. The lining is nylon covered and I think that is the problem. Also after two days of use one of the seams on the lining is coming apart. And finally it is very difficult to remove the glove while keeping the lining in the glove. But that makes sense as the lining is so slippery against the shell.I was very happy with the warmth. Used for skiing and it was about 20 degrees.
Very nice set of gloves. I like the fact that they come with a removable liner glove, and that the liner is touchscreen compatible on the index finger and thumb. It would be nice if the inner liner actually attached to the outer glove with velcro at the cuff or by some other means, the way my older REI gloves did. With these gloves it is difficult to keep the liner and glove together and most times you end up removing the glove and liner separately. The hand warmer pocket is a nice feature my other gloves do not have. The little squeegee on the thumb to wipe goggles might be useful if you have the large frameless goggles, but I found it essentially useless on smaller goggles with a plastic frame. They do seem waterproof and windproof and well made. They are relatively warm as well. I was hoping they would be warmer than my previous ski gloves, but they are about the same, and my fingers did occasionally feel a bit cold on the lifts in high-teens, low-20s temperatures.
Feature wise the gloves hit everything I was looking for:Waterproof,Removable liner,Split fingers,StrapsGood fitHowever, I think there's a huge design flaw with its liner attachment. The liner are attached using two buttons. The material that's attached by the button isn't durable. After one single day of use it's already torn. REI sent me a replacement and guess what, it was already torn when I received it. That's why I think it's a design flaw that they don't reinforce the part that's mostly being pulled.Another minor issue is that the liner fingers are so easily to be separated and pulled out when taking it off.Overall I don't recommend this product despite it being feature rich.
Spent a long time measuring and remeasuring my hands to their size chart, and then went a size up anyway. Gloves and especially the liner were too small and cut off circulation to my hands even with the tighteners all the way loose. Required a bunch of breaking-in to make them usuable but after that were very warm and waterproof.Don't know if this is just a common glove thing or something wrong with the way I ride my snowboard but pretty much the fingers on these showed noticeable wear from wherever my hand hit or rubbed against the snow. Biggest reason I needed new gloves was blowing out the fingers on a handmedown pair and was definitely hoping these would last longer but it's not looking to be the case
These gloves without the liners fit pretty true, maybe a little small. Nice ski glove. When you wear the liners they are very hard to get in the glove due to the inner material that gets pushed up into the finger tips. There still wearable but now they fit tight and feel a little awkward with the extra material pushed up into the finger tips. I don’t think going up a size would help with the inner material getting pushed up into the finger tips. The outer glove is good quality, soft leather palm and comfortable inside. The inner glove is also good quality with a snug fit and a sticky grip in the palm and fingers for a good grip. They would be good for driving or for the fall and spring.
