As long as I have feet I'll keep buying these boots

Unlined is perfect for Southern California: never really cold, but with the right socks they feel perfectly fine on those balmy days. Not sure if the sole material has changed, but the sole is holding up much better on this pair and thank goodness, because the non-slip is worthless once the tread has worn out. I've been wearing this pair for about two years now and I rotate them out with the moc toe versions if I'm in the warehouse or not. There are some minor issues: the tongue won't sit quite right (straight) on my right shoe, there's some small stitching inconsistencies, the sole will never be as white and clean as the day you buy them, and the shoes don't look quite symmetrical if you look close enough, but at the end of the day they're a work boot and a great deal for the price. I will keep beating them up knowing that they'll keep on kicking. They'll be due for a resole soon-ish and I am definitely sending this pair in once it gets to that point.

Comfortable, long-lasting, versatile, and they look great.

If you are considering bumping up to a more expensive and longer-lasting boot, I would definitely recommend these boots without hesitation. There's a reason I had to dm Danner on instagram and call a phone number to back order them!I am fashion/appearance - minded AND I work in residential contracting (repair and remodels) so I am usually standing/kneeling while at work. These boots are very comfortable, they feel durable and secure on my ankle and foot, and they're not heavy. I would love a pair of these to work in and another pair to wear while out and about. This summer will be a test of their comfort, but I have heard of people wearing these year-round to work, hike, and wear casually. I'm giving them 5 stars because of the reasons mentioned above at a reasonable price.

Favorite boot there is. Danner customer service was very gracious with helping me find the right size. It’s important to note, these will feel significantly smaller on first try-on than they will feel a week into wearing them. I originally thought I was a size 9 (felt most comfortable when trying on), but 8.5 ended up being the best fit when worn in. Keep the break-in phase in mind and you’ll end up with the best fit and look.

Great boot let down by floppy tongue
23 March 2023

I really like this boot. Break in was quick and painless. After a couple of weeks they feel great. Sizing is generous. I have bunions and usually have to order wide sizes but in these the standard D width fits great. They’re also a unique and cool style. The only gripe is about the tongue. I’d read reviews complaining about this but dismissed them as folks who couldn’t figure out how to use the tongue slits or tie their boots properly. Nope. The slits in the tongue are useless as they don’t line up with where the laces cross. Tying the laces tight enough to hold the tinge in place would make them too tight to wear comfortably. The tongue flops to the side no matter what you do. It’s not enough to get rid of the boots but it’s enough that I don’t think I’d buy ... MoreI really like this boot. Great boots, run a full
28 December 2020

Great boots, run a full size longer than standard. The inner fabric around the heel could be left out as the exposed leather provides a much nicer feel once broken in. As a side note, If Danner made these with an additional layer on the sides (as in the discontinued thorogood lace-to-toe 'Roofers' boot) and in the same lighter color option, they would sell. I would gladly pay for them. This style would easily gain a cult following, as demonstrated by the fact that I literally wrote to TG boots hq to ask if they had a pair in my size anywhere, no luck, and they don't plan on bringing them back. My grandpa wore Danner's as a search and rescue climber back in the 70's which is the reason I tried these boots in the first place. (I'd work on the design team for free just to make this happen. No competitor makes this boot right now and it's easy to adapt the round-toe bull run. Two sole options, 'regular' and wedge, and three color shades, light, med, dark. Non-dyed veg tan, and a over-dyed Indigo options for Japan would be a hit. I have some collaboration ideas too) Anyway, thanks if you made it through all this. Have a great day!

I have worn 20+ danner
23 September 2023

I have worn 20+ danner boots and 8 pairs of bull runs over the years. This pair is off* the tounge stich to the toe box on boot is to thick and causes discomfort and calluses on top of foot. And the heal box / counter on the same boot is wider than the other by a bit.Laces appear not to be the same quality as prior purchases.Interesting that this pair has a gell insert compared to the prior versions.

Looked good, and I normally
31 July 2023

Looked good, and I normally love Danner boots.l but these were very uncomfortable, the tongue is thin leather which causes lace bite. The lace material doesn’t stay tight while lacing until you get to the top, but then you get lace bite on the ankle. Wish it had a padded tongue. The footbed was not comfortable, which is odd because other Danner boots are comfortable right out of the box.Was expecting something like my moc-toe 6” leather sharp tail boot but with a white sole, not at all what it was like. Was very disappointed, had to return them. The comfort was that of a $60 boot, not $200.Danner customer support was great though, through the purchasing process and had no hassle with the return. Low quality with design flaws, should not be marketed as a work boot.
12 January 2020

The first pair of Danner boots that I purchased were the Mountain 600 model. After occasional hikes and days of work as a finish carpenter the seams in the leather uppers began to separate and they were no longer water resistant. When the lace hooks began to pop off (not while tying laces or wearing them overly snug) I decided to return them for warranty. Danner gladly issued me an online refund and I chose to purchase the Bull Run boots as they are marketed as a made in America work boot with seemingly better quality than the Mountain 600 and more suited for the work I do. Break in was not brutal and only took about two weeks after being oiled with Whites leather conditioner to be very comfortable. However the tongue doesn’t seem to be long enough and isn’t sewn in high enough which makes the tongue always migrate to one side of the boot leaving my socks exposed. After four weeks of wear the soles began to separate and I returned them under warranty. Danner again gladly replaced and shipped me another pair. The second pair of Bull Run boots had the same issue with the tongue and a similar break in time and after a 4-5 weeks one of the upper lace hooks popped off (again, not while tying, lacing or snugging them up. I was simply wearing them). I continued wearing the boots for another few weeks with the lace hook missing until I had time to drive to the factory store and explain that I would like a refund, not exchange because I no longer want to continue to exchange for boots that aren’t made with quality. Danner suggested that I was pulling the laces too tight when tying the boots and that if I wasn’t satisfied with the bull run boots I could try a higher end boot like the Power Foreman, Quarry, or their version of smokejumper boot and pay the difference. I was not willing to get into the $300-$400 price range with Danner because the quality didn’t look much better than the Bull Run at $190 and I already own a pair of whites and Hoffman's Boots. So, I left that day with a gift card because they didn’t have any Bull Run boots to exchange in my size and had to later drive to another danner store to pick up the boots, which after getting home and wearing I discovered had a large fold inside of the toe cap. I decided to wear the boots anyway after being frustrated with returns and exchanges but was forced to again return to a danner store after the toe cap cracked and separated from the leather after two days of wear. Another trip to the danner store to again ask for a refund, not return. Danner again would not refund my money but gladly issued me and exchange and suggested again that I try a higher end boot that was suited for work (you will find the Bull Run boot on display in their work boot section in stores and online). I left that day with another pair of Bull Run Boots only to return home to find that the right boot has no plastic toe cap at all! Another trip to the danner store today to ask for a refund, not exchange....same story. Danner did not have an exchange in my size but offered to ship me a pair when they are available next week after refusing to make another trip to the Danner store. How many times will Danner exchange defective boots and how can it be worth it for them? Danner has great customer service and return policies if you’re willing to stay with them as a costumer and try their entire boot line but their quality and designs are low and flawed. Please consider the time, energy, and money it will cost you to receive warranty exchanges. Please do your research when buying boots and buy truly American made boots (made in America with American materials) if you can. Thank you for taking the time to read.

They look amazing and surprisingly
29 June 2023

They look amazing and surprisingly light weight. These are possibly the most comfortable footwear I’ve ever worn. I’ve walked long distances on hard concrete floors and my feet have not hurt or felt worn out. I’m currently in an extreme heat environment and they are not at all hot. I will be buying more of these soon. Bottom line, they are hands down my favorite boots of all time.

excellent boot. Pros: Many. Cons: 1
21 February 2022

I've been wearing these boots for almost 3 months. PROS: I didn't need a break in period, they were pretty much comfortable from the beginning. Uninsulated and not water proof (I added winter insoles for the season) I've worn them in the cold, rain and snow and they did better than I expected. At work I'm on sidewalks, gravel & crushed concrete for hours - no issues. They are very comfortable, I've walked 1.5 miles on sidewalks - no complaints. CONS: They are slippery on wet floors. Possibly a little long. My personal preference is replace the 2 sets of hook eyelets with regular eyelets.
