All the brands have gone up in price. I like the fact that Danner makes a lot of their boots here in the USA. The fit is comfortable. They are not waterproof. You can make them water resistant with Danners waterproofing products. They will never be 100% waterproof though. The plusses are the flat vibram soles have cushion. They don’t track mud in the house. They will wear a little more quickly than other soles. They are well made. Another pluss is that Danner will completely rebuild your boot as long as the leather is salvageable. I have been a longtime customer of these boots. I found that this pair had a tighter fit across the top of the boot were it pinches the top of my foot and leaves a mark on the top of my foot. This is located at where the beginning of where the laces start. Would of thought that purchasing the wider version would have provided more room. However that is not the case. The toe box is also very narrow on the wide version. To compensate for the wide foot, I had to order a larger size and the boot fits longer than I would have liked. Makes walking difficult. The most disappointing feature of my boots have to be the lacing hooks. I have broke x2 hooks just from walking. My father was an immigrant shoe repairman and I also learned the craft. He taught me about good leather and good craftsmanship. I am now 80 and retired. The Bull Run Moc is a GREAT shoe; BUT the soling material does not meet the standards of your shoe. We used Armortred wedge soles and heels to repair work boots and it was a good wearing material. The heels on my Bull Run Moc are worn in half after only 3 weeks. Please use a better material and I would be pleased to pay extra. Your boots are expertly crafted with good leather and fit; please use a better quality material for your soles and heels to match the quality of your shoes. One Bass Pro employee said they wouldnt return them because they looked like they had been worn to work in. News flash they are WORK BOOTS! So will get Danner involved again to get the boots replaced and I have no doubt they will take care of the situation and stand behind their one year warranty. Danner has always been the go to brand for work boots around our house but after 2 very irritating experience with bass pro employees we will no longer be shopping there for work boots… or anything else. I am completely shocked at how they handled the situation and expect more from them.

Never again!
22 September 2022

I’ve heard good things about Danner boots so I thought I’d give them a shot. After getting used to the idea of spending $260 on a pair of boots, I took the plunge. I’ve been working construction for over 20 years so I understand that boots need time to break in. These however are the most uncomfortable things I’ve ever worn. My feet are literally bruised from being on my feet all day wearing these boots. There is absolutely zero cushion anywhere inside the boot except for the sole which seems minimal. I expected more from Danner and had much more comfort and cushioning from boots half this price. Never again will I buy these boots or recommend anyone else to get them. I would return these torture devices if I could.

Overpriced, Weak Materials
28 April 2022

I am ambivalent about these boots because the company has been nothing but nice to me. However the materials used ruin what could be one of the best boots on the market. The leather, while cool in the summer, is too thin for jobsites. It easily gets punctured and I believe could be a safety risk. The first pair I had while working in Sheetmetal. The boots are definitely not suitable for Sheetmetal, welding, or any trade involving hot and sharp metal. The first pair I had, the sole began to peel off and crumble at the toe within the first 2 months which appears to be an issue for other reviewers. However I think this was just a defect and not a quality of the boot as my second pair did not suffer similarly. However I think this was just a defect and not a quality of the boot as my second pair did not suffer similarly. The staff at Danner was very kind and sent me a new pair which I then used for carpentry, masonry, and now for just wearing around and occasional work because I returned to college. For Masonry and Carpentry I think they are tolerable but still made from weak materials and the stitching around the toe quickly tore and I had to repair it with thread multiple times. Now the soles are nearly worn through after about a year of wear.I think it is a real shame because the assembly in Portland is clearly done by skilled and passionate people but for $230 it is a disappointing that the company has been selecting cheaper materials and thus squandering the excellent craftsmanship. I hope that they at least increase the thickness of their leather and stitching and perhaps increase the quality of the soles. Then I would definitely order a new pair. But with the current price and quality I will try a different brand for now.For those of you planning to purchase, They run narrow so size accordingly. I ordered them wide and they still ran quite narrow resulting in getting a larger size boot which occasionally makes me trip on the long toe. Also they do not offer much arch support so if you have high arches you will need an insole.

So I really wanted to
18 July 2022

So I really wanted to like these boots, and to be fair, I think they look great. The problem is the fit, finish, and feel.Right off the bat, the design doesn’t accommodate the additional steel toe on the interior dimensions. Meaning what should be a size 9.5, now needs to be a size 10 or 11 to fit the same toe. But this means that the rest of the boot doesn’t fit. In addition to this, when it doesn’t fit great, and is constructed with very stiff leather, it rubs all the wrong way causing blisters. As for the finish, with something at this price point, I wasn’t expecting the brown leather color to rub off so easily on any clothes they came into contact with - aka socks and pants.Overall, very dissatisfying for me. The shoes look great and treatment is awesome, but I was disappointed in the consistency and comfort. First off, the shoes are not very comfortable. It does not offer much in the arch support department. I could not see myself wearing these all day and be on my feet. The boots are beautiful, except there was a significant difference in material of the tongue. The right shoe has thick stiff leather material the left shoe tongue material was much thinner and flimsy. I assumed this was manufacturing error and I was going to exchange, but I couldn’t be bothered shipping them back and wait another couple weeks. They were sort of comfortable only lasted 5 months
16 March 2023

I bought these boot for around 260, expecting a decent life time from them. Nothing crazy but not 5 months. After four months the soles are more or less completely smooth, whatever I walk alot. The part that really makes me angry is the leather is starting to tear in placesThere's a massive hole right by the shoe lacesFor no reason. I have been walking in urban environments so it wasn't a might twig or trap or something. Just super cheap leather. I will never buy Danner boots again. And I'm a little disappointed REI would carry such a poorly constructed show. 250+ boots should last years not months. I couldn't be more passed off with Danner, and I'm just a little disappointed with rei.
