Bought this tent a month ago and just came back from a 2 week camping trip. We found it very easy to put up with or without attaching to awning. It only takes a few minutes with 2 people to put up on awning a little longer when on its own! We found once pegged out and bars are on pull the rope and peg the back then extend side poles. We also unattached tent from awning and left it self standing while we used our vehicle for the day but make sure you place markers where your tyres are so you can return to same spot when reattaching your tent. It is very well made and the floor is very good quality and quite thick but we did put a tarp underneath so it was easy to pack up when the ground was wet so it could be pack back into the bag which by the way is a really good ... MoreBought this tent a month ago and just came back from a 2 week camping trip. Good room inside tent pleased we decided on the extra room we had a double blow up bed and still had room on both sides to put things and walk around . The only thing we did find was the pegs weren't real good so we changed to stronger ones as they bent on some hard ground. Oh and the other thing we had to watch the zip around the door so it didn't catch on the tent. We were highly impressed as we do own a camping trailer but found the tent just as easy. We free camped a lot so we had many Rv travellers wanting to have a look as they were impressed! My partner and I are in our early fifties so I found the tent not heavy and bulky and very easy to move ,carry and lift. Can't wait to use again .

Pleased with the quality and ease of setup. There is a discrepancy in the number of tent pegs supplied. The Booklet states there are 25 pegs but I could only count 18 supplied! Haven't had a chance to test the tent in the wild yet.

Good all rounder but not cut out for heavy rain
9 January 2020

This tent is easy to erect with two people (still possible with 1) and is a great all rounder in terms of size and design, working well with any awning with a sail track, also working well free standing and price point. The biggest downside my husband and I have found is that the material is permeable so is not well suited to heavy rain or dew. The additional ‘roof’/ built in awning does help but it does not stop water seeping in the sides, joins, back slope of the tent and front detachable awning. For that reason it is better in non-winter conditions.NB we have the smaller version of this tent but the material is the same spec.

Pros and cons
29 July 2021

Ok…..so I really wanted an oztent tbh but they were expensive, bulky, heavy and impractical for my own semi-feral camping with a D22. I chose the darche for its reputation, good looks and portability. Very much a ‘brand choice’. Pros. Looks great Lightweight Airflow is excellent Roomy Great floor Great optional awning and fly sheet supplied as standard. Stand-alone tent. Bonus. Feels high quality for a glorified fly sheet Cons. Cheap tent pegs which bent pretty easily Possibly over-designed….there’s an eyelet in the middle of the back strut sleeve, which has no reference from the manual…..is i.t for a pole?…is it for a guy rope to manage the tension?…who knows…once the fly is installed you can’t see it anyway…doh? The fly sheet. What a PITA this has been. The fly is ... MoreOk…..so I really wanted an oztent tbh but they were expensive, bulky, heavy and impractical for my own semi-feral camping with a D22. The fly is actually the awning, which is pulled up and over the front to cover the vulnerable sleeping quarters. Getting the tensions correct to keep this fly clear of the ‘lining’ requires a degree in physics and engineering, neither of which I am capable of. So…both times I have had light rain or heavy dew, the fly has contacted the lining and produced droplets inside the tent. There’s a Velcro strip on the fly which corresponds to the Velcro fasteners on the back strut sleeve, but if you align these when erecting the tent, it just doesn’t seem to stop the fly touching the inner lining. Darche’s brochure shows there’s a middle support or eyelet on the fly…but mine didn’t have one…so…I went to a canvas maker and got a third eyelet installed in the centre of the fly, which I peg down at the back of the tent. and this has allowed me to keep the fly free of the lining. The hard-sell. Sold as an extension to a rooftop awning, I can’t see how practical this really is. You would have to re-park your truck every night exactly 2m away and in exactly the right position to align and join the tent to your awning. Yeah right. You’d be so drunk by the time you parked it exactly, you’d probably just kip in your truck. Conclusion. Fab light tent, which can handle a bit of wind and light rain. If I was doing any serious all-weather camping, I don’t think I’d be choosing this tent. It looks great tho 🙂 and feels good. It is what it is. Snowys team were very responsive to my queries and I’m still waiting for a response from darche…but they are shut with covid, so no worries.
