this pedal is amazing. i've tried it with a number of bass and amps (tube and solid state). it just makes everything sound better. makes it real easy to get finger picked p-bass sound that shines through the mix without crushing it. or put it before your favorite distortion/fuzz effects for even more mayhem.

Overall:Instead of altering my beloved Fender Jazz with a preamp, this pedal was a great answer to adding that active touch to a passive bass. It has unbelievable tone shaping capabilities for any type of music genre.

Overall:This Pedal "NEVER" gets turned off! it is such a wonderfully added touch that makes my sound 3D! The band loves it and really helps cut through the mix without altering my instruments intention. Truly wonderful! Next to the hyperluminal compressor.... this one is my #2

I have yet to combine it with other pedals but I can tell you just this thing straight into an amp makes a huge difference in sound. It adds heft, punch and sparkle to your sound all at once if you want it to. 100% the biggest sound improvement I have ever experienced from an eq pedal. Darkglass just keeps knocking it out of the park.
Best pedal preamp I've ever used. Love the simplicity and quality of sound. I have a few other Darkglass products and the more I use them the more and more I fall in love with them.They are somewhat pricey, but not too far out. Well worth it.
I have other darkglass pedals which I use occasionally. The HB will be on all the time (together with the HL). I play mainly clean and this has brought out clarity and depth of the bass. It has totally transformed my passive Pbass. I thought I would use only to boost during solo but no this will be on full time. It also brings life to the AO and BK3. Best pedal on my board apart from HL
This little box is magic for tone. Can make old strings sound new and has a very musical EQ even at extremes. Can get many different tones out of this very clean pre amp.Now when i switch the pedal off and hear what my bass tone was like before (which i liked), it sounds muddy and no where near as precise in note definition as when the pedal is on.Would highly recommend this if you are thinking about pulling the plug, it sure is worth it.
All the reviews talk about how good this pedal is. I’m just a +1 to every other review on the internet. Buy it. It enhances your tone so much. I can’t see a situation where I’d ever turn it off. It’s like magic in a box.
This is my first pedal by Darkglass. Great pedal to have for extended eq options and works well with others. I chose this over a full preamp because Darkglass pedals are quite expensive and I'm a newbie to their gear so decided to start small and will possibly go bigger later on.Alot of attention has been given to the inner workings of this unit. It is a very clean sounding and punchy pedal. It's also just the right size if you're running a relatively small board like I am.Overall, very happy with my first Darkglass pedal.B7K Ultra next!
Once you turn it on, you'll never turn it off! very musical sounding and adds a so much sparkle to my high gain tones. I'm so impressed I wrote my first review!
